Not sure if this belongs here, but Charles has invited the Japanese royals for a state visit

Does anyone know if this is commonplace, for the monarch to send an invitation like this?
You may think you're cool, but do you have a smiley named after you?

Okay, fine.  Macrobug is now as cool as I am

PrincessOfPeace

All State visits are at the request of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, so it's not a 'personal' invite per se.

Commodore Laurie Hopkins, LVO, helicopter pilot, naval friend of the King, and sometime Gentleman Usher to Queen Elizabeth II, has died aged 76. In 1973, he converted to fly the versatile Wasp helicopter, and
he was teamed up with the then Prince of Wales as his flight-deck officer in the frigate Jupiter, joining over Christmas 1973, when Jupiter completed a circumnavigation east-about across the Pacific.

How far in advance are the churches notified before King Charles III attends a service?

Well, we don't know how it was stated. It was probably passed on to the team's employers by a reasonably polite aide. However, Andrew must have known this was coming for some time. He has probably received a substantial amount from the late Queen's private estate by now, passed on via Charles and per her instructions. However that wouldn't amount to what she had been giving him annually for many years.

Andrew is not close to Charles as a brother for many reasons and he must have realised the largesse from his sibling wasn't going to last a lifetime. It's sad in a way because of the long lease Andrew holds but the renovated FC remains empty fourteen months after the Sussexes took their last bits and pieces out and it will be an embarrassment to Charles for it to remain so for another year or more.

King Charles has hosted Sir Keir Starmer for his first official weekend at Balmoral as Prime Minister.

The Labour leader was joined by his wife, Victoria, for the royal retreat on Saturday.

The retreat is a long-held tradition in the UK, in which prime ministers visit the Scottish castle for a few days.

The Starmers arrived on Saturday, where they reportedly had an audience with the King.

On Sunday, they joined the king and queen at Crathie Kirk for the weekly church service.

I hope King Charles is well; he looks much older.

So sad to read of Dame Maggie's death. She was a wonderful actress I've enjoyed seeing in many roles over the decades. No wonder she has received so many tributes.

Expect Harry Potter co-stars,Downton Abbey and lots of mores who work with her in films for six-seven decades in film industry but Maggie Smith is Icon
