I'm wading into this completely blind, no idea what the issue is, but good for William for what ever it was that he did.  Well done!  :whatcanisay:

@Macrobug67 - These appear to be the big issues that fan have with the Super League.

Why are football fans protesting against Super League plans? | Goal.com

QuoteWhat is the Super League?

The Super League is a new breakaway league featuring 20 of the biggest clubs in Europe, including 12 established "founding clubs" ? Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City, Man Utd, Tottenham, Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Juventus, Inter and Milan ? set to rival the Champions League.

The 15 founding clubs will be competing in the tournament on a permanent basis, unable to be relegated (three more founding clubs are still yet to be confirmed).

Three additional guest teams will fill the remaining spots each year, based on their success in their respective domestic leagues.

It is understood that clubs playing in the Super League will still feature in their domestic leagues, but with the competition for the top four all but removed, and with their Super League presence never in danger, the tournament could threaten to imbalance football forever.

Fans and teams complain.

QuoteThere have been many reasons about why there has been so much backlash to the Super League, but the overwhelming issues are that the competition is elitist and exclusionary, removing healthy competition, and that the owners of the clubs involved seem to be more fuelled by financial reasons than by a genuine love of the game.

Fans of the "Big Six" Premier League teams were left upset and disappointed by the Super League announcement, having not been informed of the plans. Coaches and players were also not aware of the situation.

In the hours following the confirmation of the Super League, fans of the Premier League "Big Six" took to their stadiums to protest the announcement, with Liverpool fans hanging banners and flags outside of Anfield.

Chelsea supporters then voiced their concerns at Stamford Bridge in numbers prior to their Premier League game against Brighton.

Thank you.  Could have read it buuuut....no.  But well done William, well done.

I only said: inside knowledge (GBP 300 Million per each owner) and pulse (what the FA team as a whole know and told their Presi, re: the Fans and the players who wouldn't receive a penny of that malignant deal). His communication was about devastating effect and the fans.

I didn't say that because of his communication as president he ''triggered'' the fans and players to speak out and rally. Although they did after his official tweet.

Oh please! Fans were riled up about this proposed Super League as soon as it was announced. There were protests all over Twitter.

I have large numbers of friends and family all over England still, and it was practically the sole topic of conversation in the last two series of calls I made to about twenty people in all age groups.

Nobody on those calls even mentioned William?s tweet and quite frankly soccer fans in England couldn?t care less about tweets from Patrons not involved in the day to day running of the FA, nor about official statements from anyone, President, Chairman, etc whoever they are.

It?s truly bizarre to believe that fans only publicly protested (in Britain anyway) because they were waiting for some signal from Prince William. As I said there were ructions and protests from many followers of the game and officials from the beginning.

Williams message was quote tweeted by many prominent footballers.  Many national newspapers had his remarks on the front pages.

Its a victory for the fans clearly, but having a person of the magnitude of Prince William speak out cant be ignored.

*Imagine being the PR hired gun having to deal with Prince William shitbagging your idea (of a breakaway Super League). Wouldn't be surprised if this reaches the desk of Jamie Dimon, CEO of JPMorgan, the bank backing the project.*

Pignal is a journalist. And journalists hardly ever ignore what members of the RF do.

Bold and Underlined  :hehe:

If Stanley the Economist from Paris, who has the pulse in mainland Europe, then it is what it is Princess.

Curryong

He?s still only a journalist not an expert on Soccer. And no one human being holds ?the pulse of Europe?, or any other Continent for that matter. Sorry, I don?t worship any of these people, certainly not some journo in the economic field.

And no one person is a spokesman  for the ordinary soccer fan in Britain, Germany or any other place. Those people are perfectly capable of making their feelings known for themselves.

wannable

and yet the super league crumbled. The FA has to do its job, and they did. Now internal meetings with players, coaches and owners of the 6 English clubs.

Stanley has worked as an Economist in the most important cities in Europe, including Brussels and London, now stationed in Paris. I'm not one to chit on his CV or his contact book.  :flower:

It is still unclear what punishment will follow from FIFA, UEFA, the FA and Premier League.

Curryong

Yes, of course the FA had to do its job in the face of this incipient rebellion. And that job was done by people whose careers have been in soccer admin for years, usually decades and know the game inside out.

What was done and is being done within the FA (and other football overseeing bodies)  would have been done in exactly the same way over the past week if the Patron (another name for the President) was Bozo the Clown or Dumbo the Elephant. And these administrators know exactly what the fans in the stands wanted them to do.

Btw, I?m not sure why the FA was highlighted to three times its normal size in that quote in the last post. If it was for my benefit I do know about the FA. and its history.  I have attended soccer matches in England since childhood in the 1950s (Grimsby Town and Norwich City) and Chelsea and Manchester United many times since.

wannable

William is the image, image of a famous public person hits the news, the nice touch, he loves football.

He has done a lot for football; from mental health, to stop racism. Don't understand what the problem is that the FA President is actually taken serious by the players and fans, the dude was trending yesterday.  :orchid:
