The Duke of Cambridge has thanked Swim Englands staff and members for their work to support the swimming community during the coronavirus pandemic.

Prince William is the patron of the recognised national governing body for aquatics and has sent a letter to all the Swim England team and members at its affiliated clubs.

With pools closed since 20 March, Swim England has created a range of content, resources and training opportunities to help keep clubs and members engaged.

The Duchess of Cambridge has narrated a special short film to mark what would have been the opening day of Wimbledon 2020.

Tennis fan Kate, who has attended the tournament numerous times and handed out the trophy to men's singles champion Novak Djokovic in 2019, provided a moving voiceover for the footage, which was shared by Wimbledons official Twitter account.

I'm a huge tennis fan, and Wimbledon being one of the 3 biggest highlights in the ATP and WTA, I will miss it this year very much.  The ATP/WTA have decided to squeeze a bunch of tournaments this coming August 2020 with no fans, i.e. like premier football. So at least I'll be watching the US Open and the Roland Garros.

Thank you for sharing. I enjoyed the interaction between Catherine, Andy and the children. Her dress would be a perfect choice for next year's tournament.

wannable

Lovely, and her tennis motif dress too, I'd guess it would be any of the actual top 5's in the finals for both ATP/WTA standings.

My guess is it will not proceed this year?

I'm guessing that if it does proceed that spectator numbers will be limited and coverage would be shown on television or online. The participants themselves can  take the appropriate precautions. Last year there were eight teams representing different charities.

QuoteRacist abuse - whether on the pitch, in the stands, or on social media - is despicable and it must stop now.

William as President of the Football Assoc. sent a series of three tweets addressing racism in football.

QuoteWe all have a responsibility to create an environment where such abuse is not tolerated, and those who choose to spread hate and division are held accountable for their actions. That responsibility extends to the platforms where so much of this activity now takes place.

QuoteI commend all those players, supporters, clubs and organisations who continue to call out and condemn this abuse in the strongest terms. - W

The Duke of Cambridge called an emergency meeting with figureheads and campaigners to devise plans on how a multi agency partnership can work together to stamp out sickening racism in football.

I'm glad that William is following Harry and Meghan in contacting big tech firms in an effort to fight racism and hatred on social media.

However, I'm just wondering where William, and the rest of the RF was, when Meghan, his own sister in law, their own relative by marriage, was living in the UK and being pounded night and day by trolls and the tabloids.

Here was a biracial woman and none of them, not one, including him, raised a finger to assist her. No word in her defence, no shared engagements, no word in any statement. So apparently she didn't matter to him but this does.

PRINCE William has blasted the European Super League for the damage it would cause to the entire football community.

The Duke of Cambridge, who is also President of the Football Association, said that he shared the same concerns of fans about the new league.

Kudos to William (I was pessimistic), President of the FA, he surely has the inside knowledge and the pulse of things in this matter.

Partial victory so far!!! 🎆

BREAKING: The European Super League has been officially disbanded following a meeting between the 12 founder clubs tonight.

Edit: This is a little premature. Nothing official yet.

You are surely not suggesting that it?s because of William?s influence that these successful clubs in England are now withdrawing/going to withdraw from the proposed Super League? Because if you are it suggests you don?t know very much about British soccer! The fans? reaction to the news and the threat of legal penalties to the clubs administration are the key to the recent moves.

The Football Association (also known as The FA) is the governing body of association football in England and the Crown dependencies of Jersey, Guernsey, and the Isle of Man. Formed in 1863, it is the oldest football association in the world and is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the amateur and professional game in its territory.

The office holders in order are: The President, Chairman, Secretary, Chief Executive, General Secretary and Executive Director.

The President is the highest holder, who would you prefer to have written the official communication?

The Duke of Cambridge has held talks with the Football Association's (FA) chief executive Mark Bullingham.

William, the FA's president, spoke with Mr Bullingham on Tuesday afternoon via telephone and was briefed on the latest developments in the controversial proposal.

^^^ @wannable Yes just read all the EPL sides have left the Super League.

William as FA President certainly has a platform.

wannable

I only said: inside knowledge (GBP 300 Million per each owner) and pulse (what the FA team as a whole know and told their Presi, re: the Fans and the players who wouldn't receive a penny of that malignant deal). His communication was about devastating effect and the fans.

I didn't say that because of his communication as president he ''triggered'' the fans and players to speak out and rally. Although they did after his official tweet.
