A national commemorative ceremony in honour of His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh will be held in Ottawa on April 17 at 12:30 p.m.

The ceremony will be broadcast live and include virtual tributes and performances.

It will be followed by a recital by the Dominion Carillonneur to pay a final tribute to His Royal Highness, live from the Peace Tower, in Ottawa. Furthermore, a gun salute in Canada will be conducted in honour of His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh on the day of the national commemorative ceremony.

What wonderful photos!! I have to say in the big group shot from 2018 that Isla Phillips looks so proud to be tasked with holding her baby cousin Lena. The then infants Louis and Lena look a little perplexed so I have to imagine that the Cambridges, Phillips and Tindalls were standing behind whomever was taking the photo and encouraging the whole gang to smile and laugh. I have this image of the dads and mums making all sorts of noises, smiles and funny faces to try and attract Louis and Lena's attention.

Being as how the DofE felt so strongly about the military I wonder what he would think of the Queen banning uniforms being worn at his funeral. And if I were Harry and knew she banned them to spare my feelings I'd be really angry that she pointed out my shame in that way. Rarely does she err in her judgment, so perhaps I am wrong.

And they were the only ones that did ''war'' service. The poor Queen, the 2 of them are retired from Royal duties, the POW/DOC/Princess Royal have military honour titles/positions, the DoE was so proud of his own military service, it would have been nice to see them ALL dressed up. This is suppose to be about PP. ✝

The media have no doubt jumped to the conclusion that it will be mourning suits/clothing for all simply because of Princes Harry and Andrew.

The military uniform thing started with a report in the Times which may well have been incorrect.

However, we don?t know what Prince Philip?s wishes were regarding dress at his funeral. If he had wished for a full-on military funeral then surely he would have said so and it would have been granted. He obviously didn?t, except for touches like the military escort in the quad at Windsor. Philip seems to have wished for a no fuss private funeral, or as near as could be for a Consort of his years, and that?s what he?s getting.

Good. Surprising though, as he probably didn?t see much of them over the last couple of years. It looks as though maybe the Kents or some newer married ins are going to be bumped in order to get the thirty mourners.

The military uniform is being reported by the Times, BBC, Harpers, et all others. They are all saying it is a tradition dated back from Queen Victoria. HM Queen Elizabeth II according to all the reports is breaking with tradition to keep the peace.

Yes, that is the article I was referring. It has unseen pictures of the 3 horsey princes at Ascot, Windsor and new to me, they'd go to Balmoral. Last time visit was 2019, before the pandemic.
