It's a wonderful news, so an accolade to Kate (and Heads Together, the umbrella of Mentally Healthy, both her ideas)  :partaay: to have her initiative as part of the curriculum in all schools in the UK, I only regret that mentally healthy was taken now  rather than back when she spoke about the tool.  Today after school started, more than half of teachers all over the UK felt scared afternoon census.  The tool then 2018 is precisely to help ''staff'' with the wellbeing and MH of children.

Excellent news!!! :happy17: I can see it being very important now during the pandemic and as students across the UK will be returning to in person instruction.

   Excellent. Very much needed.

I'm so happy to hear this. When it was launched I hoped that such a great idea would succeed. It really shows what royal attention can do.  I hope the teachers will use the resources more and more!

Catherine  has marked the start of Childrens Mental Health week by urging parents and their children to open up about their feelings, particularly during such a challenging time.

With schools closed and many forced to work from home during the coronavirus pandemic, the Duchess of Cambridge said expressing yourself is crucial for mental wellbeing, whether it be through speech, music, drama or art.

Last year, the Duchess launched her landmark survey on the Early Years which revealed that while 90% of people acknowledge that parental mental health is crucial to support their children, in practice the majority struggle to prioritise their own wellbeing

Glad to see that parents/guardians are being reminded to care for their own mental well being.

QuoteSince its establishment, the resource website has become a global success story. Over half a million people have utilised the site, which has been used in almost every country in the world. With over 600 resources for primary schools already and 200 organisations helping to promote children?s mental health in school, the upcoming expansion looks only to build upon an already determined legacy.

Last year, Jaime Smith, Director of the Mental Health and Wellbeing in Schools Programme at the Anna Freud Centre described the importance of MHS, saying: ??We are delighted to build on Mentally Healthy Schools? great success by extending its guidance and resources for Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. The expansion of Mentally Healthy Schools will ensure that it is even more useful and accessible for school staff and schools across the UK.

?It is a great opportunity for us to help meet the growing demand on schools and support them to promote mental health across the UK.?

There is also relief amongst local secondary schools surrounding the new expansion. Teacher, Lisa Holt ? who works at Temple Moor High School in Leeds ? described the inclusion of secondary schools and colleges as a ?lifeline after a devastating time due to the lockdown.?

?We?ve seen the mental health of teenagers and young adults take a hammering over the lockdown and wider pandemic,? she said. ?But there has also been an impact on teacher?s mental health too, so to have the MHS expand into our field of work will provide much needed confidence and support for all involved.?

Excellent news for students, faculty, staff and parents/guardians who can take advantage of this program which is available in so many schools now.

A place for articles and discussion regarding the Royal Foundation Mental Heath program for Children

Through our work with leading mental health charities, we know that supporting the mental health of children is vital. With half of all mental health issues starting before the age of 14, nurturing wellbeing early in life can make a significant and positive impact on each child's future. As children spend so much of their time in school, the role of teachers and school staff in supporting their mental health is critical, but teachers are already stretched and often don't know where to start or how best to promote and support mental wellbeing in their classroom

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visit east London school to support mental health initiatives ? Royal Central

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have undertaken their first joint in-person engagement of 2021 , visiting School21 in east London in support of Mentally Healthy Schools.

During their visit, on March 11, William and Kate spoke with students who were outside playing. Kate was seen at a sandbox asking a little boy if he'd found any treasure while William helped a little girl build a wall at the construction area, telling people that he was just ?doing what I was told.?

Kensington Palace noted in a press release that William and Kate's visit coincided with the launch of Mentally Healthy Schools resources for secondary schools and FE colleges and that they spoke to teachers to hear about how the programme is helping them to place mental health at the forefront of their school's curriculum.

We've had some very positive feedback from parents, Andrea Silvain, the deputy head of middle school at School21, told William and Kate about Mentally Healthy Schools. She told the royals that during the lockdowns, teachers and parents were closely linked in teaching the students and that families had appreciated the online resource.

It's a really useful tool, William agreed.

Kate helped launch Mentally Healthy Schools three years ago for primary schools. The online programme provides access to hundreds of mental health resources for teachers and other staff to use in lesson plans, guidance sessions, or assemblies. Since its launch, the resources have been accessed over 1 million times.

Our Patron | About Us | Action on Addiction

Action on Addiction was one of the first four charity patronages Her Royal Highness accepted in 2012.
As patron of the charity, The Duchess has played a pivotal role in promoting the practical solutions we have developed to enable ever more people to live their lives free from addiction, and also in challenging the stigma that surrounds it. The Duchess?s experience with Action on Addiction has helped lay the groundwork for her work and understanding on mental health, and is currently helping inform her work in developing a major project around support for children in their earliest years.
Over the course of the last seven years, Her Royal Highness has visited all our services and has met many of the people we have worked with, as well as some former clients who have moved their lives on in recovery following completion of one of our treatment programmes.
We are incredibly grateful to The Duchess for her invaluable support in helping to maximise the reach and impact of Action on Addiction so that we can help more of the people and families who are suffering from addiction, eradicate the stigma associated with it and, ultimately, save more lives.

This is great. I hope charities with the same purpose merge. One look at the charities commission indicates small and medium ones in bad financial state.

QuoteThe Duchess of Cambridge will deliver the keynote speech at an event hosted by the Forward Trust on October 19 to launch the charity?s ?Taking Action on Addiction? campaign, designed to improve awareness and understanding of addiction, its causes and scale in society.

Busy day for Kate, I've always liked very much her involvement with Action on Addiction, one of the first charities she associated with.

Then the KP Diana party, not official but apparently she and the children will be with William and Diana's friends. It's a great opportunity to meet and greet the who is who (Mother's day, because of the cards from George and Charlotte, especially the latter, about W missing his mother, baby Louis did his hand printing for K).

Action on Addiction and The Forward Trust merged June 2021.  Great, as many charities folded.  I hope other charities small/med that have the same goal follow suit.  She did say in her speech that there are many charities dedicated to addiction, associated to MH, basically wishing the best to everyone involved.  I suppose 10 years, gives an almost expert level.

Kate at 40: How mental health became her royal focus ? Royal Central

QuoteWhen the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge joined Prince Harry for a video encouraging people to speak out about mental health in April 2017, the trio spoke about the difficulties of losing a parent, of raising a child, and just reaching out to talk to someone when times are tough.

In the casual chat, recorded for their Heads Together mental health initiative, the two brothers pointed out that Heads Together was Catherine?s idea. She said she realized mental health was ?a common thread? in their work, whether it was William?s work with the homeless, Harry?s involvement with the military, or ?addiction with me and bereavement.?

The admission that it was Catherine?s idea came as a surprise to some but showed the growing influence the duchess had on the initiatives the then-royal trio carried out. Four years later, mental health is at the heart of Catherine?s work in the Royal Family and promises to be a focus moving on.

Whether it?s through her involvement with the charity Action on Addiction or focusing on the early years, the Duchess of Cambridge has spoken out about how mental health issues greatly impact lifelong outcomes for individuals in today?s society.
