Queen Camilla's father is hero war Major Bruce Shand but Queen Camilla interview about her dad served in 12th Lancers during World War Two
QuoteThe Queen, who is Colonel-in-Chief of The Royal Lancers and The Grenadier Guards, also opened up on her father, Major Bruce Shand, and what he went through during 12th Lancers World War Two

QuoteThe Queen's statement about her late father, who passed away in 2006, is the latest in a long line of tributes she has paid him over the years. Major Shand served with the 12th Lancers during the Second World War, earning the Military Cross twice once in 1940 during the retreat to Dunkirk, and again in 1942 for his North Africa campaign. Despite being wounded and captured in the same region, he thankfully survived the ordeal.
