What is significant about the Trafalgar Parade and Service?

The Service and the Parade (attended mostly by sea cadets) signifies the commemoration of the Battle of Trafalgar in October 1805, at which, although Britain won that sea battle against the French Navy, Admiral Lord Nelson (a national hero) was killed by a sniper shot. Trafalgar was regarded as a huge victory for British sea power. The country was at that time at war against Napoleonic France and its allies.

Next year will be the 120th anniversary of that victory. It's a bit odd that Prince Michael of Kent, an ex army officer, is attending this year, bit I guess Andrew who did serve in the Royal Navy for many years, is still in too much disgrace to be seen.

Lady Ella Windsor is back at official functions as she accompanied her father, Prince Michael, last week for the enthronement of Bishop Kyr Nektarije as the UK's first Serbian Orthodox bishop based at St. Sava's Church in London. HRH is said to have represented the BRF at the event.

Quote from: PrincessOfPeace on December 03, 2024, 07:58:09 PMDaily Mail: Lady Gabriella says her husband Thomas made a 'sudden impulse' decision to 'take his life at the home of his beloved parents' after suffering an adverse effect to prescription medication

The Kingsons' doctor was apparently one appointed by the Royal Household,(don't know if he is a trained psychiatrist) and there appears to have been a variety of medications prescribed, not just one for sleeplessness. And, according to discussions elsewhere, at least one of the drugs is known to cause adverse effects. Thomas Kingston was said at the inquest to be suffering insomnia and stress due to his high powered career.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if one could add congenital depression to the other mental health symptoms. Thomas's parents may not have known about his mental state and well-being, but it's rather careless for a sporting rifle to be left unguarded in a car all the same.

We're thrilled to announce Lady Ella Windsor as the new Patron of RTM! A huge advocate for how music can help young people.

"On a visit to a school served by RTM I was dazzled by the student performances. What a stunning snapshot of musical talent and teaching"
