Would not catch me doing that even if I was younger, Catherine has guts to do that, and we all know that she had plenty of guidance and help in learning how to do that yet are other things I would do, riding a bike for one.  She is definitely a sporty girl who is a bit fearless in life......marrying into a royal family and staying on the job...yes that is a bit fearless to me as she has had to put up with all the hell and drama of the media and other royals.

Kate Middleton and Prince William pay their respects at Aberfan memorial in Wales - live updates | HELLO!

Quotehe Prince and Princess of Wales visited the Aberfan Memorial Garden on Friday to pay their respects to those who tragically lost their lives during the Aberfan disaster.

The coal-tip landslide on 21 October 1966 led to the loss of 144 lives, including 116 children.

William and Kate were led through the Aberfan Memorial Garden to pay their respects to those who died when a colliery spoil tip collapsed and sent tonnes of ash slurry onto the village below.

I can actually remember the Aberfan disaster quite well. Prince Charles begged to go and help dig at the slide there but the way BP behaved in those days, of course he wasn?t allowed to. The Queen kept away from the scene of the tragedy for quite some time, and it was later said that it was one of the greatest regrets of her public life that she didn?t go there sooner. The survivors must be getting on a bit in years now.

@Curryong-Thank you for sharing your recollection. I can only imagine the horror and shock that the nation felt during that time. I had not known that Charles wished to go and help but was not permitted. Now I am aware though that the late Earl Snowdon (Anthony Armstrong-Jones) did go to Aberfan to offer assistance.

Cute clip of Catherine letting a toddler play with her handbag today.

QuoteA mum whose baby took a fancy to the Princess of Wales' handbag as she greeted crowds on a visit to Aberfan said it was a moment she "won't forget".

Cheeky Daniel Williams, who is one years old, was with his mum Lucy along with hundreds of others from the town who went to see the royal couple on Friday morning.

As the princess met with crowds while visiting the memorial garden to pay respects to those who lost their lives in the disaster, she began speaking to Lucy when Daniel snatched her small black handbag from her.

This is absolutely priceless. A sweet gesture - and the mum?s face when she realised the Princess was going to let the baby play with her handbag. Brilliant.

Very sad, I only knew about it years later, when it was mentioned.

The work included resetting a path, digging a new soakaway, sanding and revarnishing the front door, adding planters to the front of the building and adding a mural to create a 'lasting legacy of the Big Help Out's work'.
