Oh I?m almost fainting with the excitement of it all! Whoopy do, lol! And obviously the Edinburgh/Wessexes are out of favour or James would have been a Page. What a shame! Now let?s wait for the tabloids to twist that into an ?Archie snub!?

Yes Archie cant have page due ages and cant invite what Buckingham Palace makes decisions is final but page boy must be between 9-10 years old

I think it is very nice that Prince George of Wales will be a Page of Honour.
Is this the first time a monarch's grandson has been a page of honour at a coronation?

The artwork is stunning IMHO. Considering KCIII's love of nature, I'm not surprised to see the beautiful flowers on the border.

Well I am not surprised to see that the couple asked their older grandsons to participate as pages.

As for the Earl of Wessex, IMO he seems to be a bit old for that role. Most pages that I've seen at events such as the opening of Parliament tend to be  older boys but still pre-teens. James is now sixteen and is far too tall for the page uniform. Also it's obvious that Princes Louis and Archie are far too young to be in that role as they'd be expected to help carry the coronation robe and sit through the two hour service.

Thanks for confirming that the age is typically 12-13 for these events as I believe that perhaps many people are thinking of the pages seen at various royal weddings who can be very young. George is a tall 9 year old who will be 10 at the end of July. He'll have three older boys to assist with the Coronation robe, so I believe that he'll be fine.

Actually  9 year old George will be the youngest of the eight pages.

From prince to page: Nine-year-old George given a role of honour at King Charles' coronation | Daily Mail Online

QuoteThe king?s pages also include Nicholas Barclay, 13, the grandson of Sarah Troughton, who is one of the Queen?s companions and oldest friends.

He will be joined by Lord Oliver Cholmondeley, 13, son of David, the Marquess of Cholmondeley, and his former model wife, Rose. Oliver?s father was recently appointed to be the King?s Lord-in-Waiting ? a significant royal role.

QuoteThe fourth page is Ralph Tollemache, 12, son of British banker and aristocrat The Honourable Edward Tollemache ? a godson of the King and a page of Honour to Queen Elizabeth.

QuoteThe Queen Consort?s pages of honour all come from Her Majesty?s family. They include her grandsons Gus and Louis Lopes, 13, and Freddy Parker Bowles, 12.

Her great-nephew, Arthur Elliot, 11 ? whose father is former Tory Party chairman Ben Elliot ? will be her fourth page.

I don't know the answer as most Kings and Queens of England and later Great Britain have been decades younger than Charles when they ascended to the throne.

Two of George VI's pages were his Lascelles nephews George and Gerald.

Here's another article with information on the young pages for KCIII and QC.

Prince George, Oliver Cholmondeley, Freddy Parker Bowles, & More: A Guide to 8 Pages of Honor at Coronation of King Charles and Queen Camilla

Here are some of the BRF extended family members who have served as pages of honor in recent years. According to Gert from Gert's Royals the length of service does depend upon how long the page can wear the uniforms. Once they grow out of them, their service has ended.  We know that George is tall for his age, so he might not hold the position for too long. Traditionally the pages of honor also serve as the State Opening of Parliament as well.

Most monarchs were youngish when they came to the Throne, not old enough to have grandsons serving as Pages. Certainly in fairly modern history I can?t think of any. After Victoria came the 60 year old Edward VII. He had grandsons by his son George V but in 1902 they would have been a bit too young to serve as Pages and didn?t. Maybe if the Duke of Clarence had lived, married and had a son soon after marriage, ??but that didn?t happen.

Elizabeth, being Queen regnant, had only two Royal Pages. They weren?t her grandsons of course but George V's grandsons were pages for her in 1953 - Prince Richard of Gloucester and Prince Michael of Kent.

Prince Richard is of course now The Duke of Gloucester.

As TLLK has noted, George VI also had grandsons of George V as pages- George Lascelles was the eldest grandson of George V and later the Earl of Harewood and Gerald Lascelles was his younger brother. .
