The US woman?s voice in this video is irritating to the extreme. She sounds like Minnie Mouse on steroids and I could only listen to about two seconds of it. What?s more the premise comes from tacky tabloid speculation that Harry wouldn?t attend his father?s Coronation because his son had a birthday on the day, as if both a child?s birthday party and attendance at a Coronation of under two hours duration couldn?t be fitted in. Ridiculous!

The Coronation  Bank holiday will take place on Monday, May 8, 2023. Time for the revelers to get some sleep and the  first responders and cleaning crews to get some rest after the big day.

A bank holiday added to UK calendars to mark the Coronation of King Charles III ? Royal Central

Who was the first monarch of England to have a coronation and a bank holiday was declared?

I?m not sure about Queen Victoria?s Coronation as banks in Britain were mostly private family businesses then, though I?m sure a public holiday was given. However Edward VII, George V and George VI all had the Govt declare public holidays with banks being closed. And that was certainly the case in 1953.

It certainly is a worthy-enough occasion.

It will be a nice relaxing May for English workers. Three Bank Holidays in May alone!

1 May - Early May Bank Holiday (Monday)
8 May - King Charles III's coronation holiday (Monday)
29 May - Spring Bank Holiday (Monday)

And at a time when the flowers are lovely and there is often some warm sunshine.

The Coronation Bouquet of Queen Elizabeth II was made up of white flowers.
Will there be as Coronation Bouquet at the Coronation of King Charles III?

The Duchess of Portland was one of four canopy bearers to Queen Alexandra during the 1902 Coronation of King Edward VII.
Will Queen Camilla have any canopy bearers?

I doubt it. What was considered suitable in 1902 would be considered superfluous today and this Coronation?s pomp and ceremony are likely to be cut to the bone.

Amabel2

It will be simplified, but I wouldnt say cut to the bone. probalby by the tiem Will becomes King, a coronation will be dispensed with, but I think Charles will try to have a compromise between some glamour but  not more expensive than it has to be.

He understands the value of pomp and circumstance, and how it helps create an aura of majesty and pride in the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth.

Very well stated, @Princess Cassandra!

In the Coronation service of King Edward VII the coronation sermon had been omitted.
Will there be a coronation sermon in the Coronation service of King Charles III?

The King will be crowned with St Edward's Crown during the Coronation Service at @Wabbey on 6 May 2023.
Made for King Charles II in 1661, the Crown has been removed from the Tower of London to allow for resizing work to begin ahead of the Coronation.

King Charles' Coronation Crown Leaves the Tower of London

If it has left the Tower it will be for practice runs of what will happen on the day and then returned for the next time. Charles may try the Crown on for a few hours and if he ultimately decides it will be easier to use a lighter one (as Victoria and Edward VII did) then St Edward?s may well be at the Coronation as observer and symbol, on a cushion by the altar. Queen Elizabeth tried her Crown on several times for hours at a time as well. And everything else connected with the Crown and the ceremony will be meticulously practised again and again, including transportation to and from the Tower and the Abbey. This is a very precious object indeed and mishaps will hopefully be avoided.

I know they?re saying that St Edward?s is THE one, and I?m sure it will be, but this is a 74 year old we?re talking about and any health and strength issues will mean a change.

Princess Cassandra

What did they mean by "adjustment" of the crown? Perhaps to check that the stones and pearls are secure. Surely they can't make it smaller or larger, but maybe replacing the ermine or adding more padding to it if it is too big.
