Queen Silvia participated digitally in a conference on rare diagnoses at the world exhibition Expo 2020 in Dubai on 28th February.

The Queen's speech inaugurated the conference "Rare Diseases a Global Priority for Equity", which was arranged in the Swedish pavilion in connection with Rare Diseases Day. The conference discussed the needs of the 300 million people living with a rare diagnosis around the world.

Sweden?s Royal Family visits military and refugee experts as they put all their focus on supporting Ukraine ? Royal Central

The Swedish royal family has already showed its support for people in Ukraine following the Russian invasion with both direct messages and an increased focus on how Sweden must react and change as a neutral state in Europe. As the conflict continues, the King and Queen of Sweden led their family in a day of focus on supporting those affected by the invasion.

I believe that at this point in time that most of the European reigning royals have sent one or more members to visit a refugee center in their country. Even the non-reigning royals ie Romanian are staying informed during this stressful time.

Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia visit reception centre for Ukrainian refugees ? Royal Central

The war in Ukraine has forced millions of people to flee their homes. While most have travelled to neighbouring countries such as Poland, Romania and Moldova, refugees are now beginning to arrive in European nations further away from the war, including Sweden.

On March 22nd 2022, Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia visited Nyn?shamn to talk to authorities and volunteers working to receive Ukrainian refugees.

Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia began their visit by talking to representatives of Nyn?shamn municipality. They heard that 200-300 Ukrainian refugees arrive in Nyn?shamn daily via ferries from Poland. Many of the refugees continue to travel, but the municipality is responsible, on behalf of the Swedish Migration Board, for coordinating the reception for those who choose to stay in the municipality.

This job involves, for example, opening up so-called evacuation accommodation and collaborating on issues relating to crisis support, vaccination and other needs for care interventions. The municipality also works to be able to receive newly arrived children and young people from Ukraine in the municipality?s schools.
