Hello! Mag Feb 2021 edition guessed one of August's god parents.
Eugenie and Cressida have been pals for years and have been spotted at a number of high-profile events together. The actress, who married Harry Wentworth-Stanley in 2020, was also among the guests at Eugenie and Jack's royal wedding in 2018.

A thoughtful piece on the joint christening of August and Lucas who christened on the same day  as Victoria (Vicky) who was the eldest daughter of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. She was the first baby to wear the Hointon lace christening gown which was worn by her parents' many descendants.

The sweet symbolism of a rare double christening at Windsor ? Royal Central

QuoteA double christening in the House of Windsor is a rare event. In modern times, their babies have usually been welcomed into the Church of England individually but this is no ordinary year, for the Royal Family or for any of us. In the space of a few months, The Queen has welcomed four new great grandchildren and said a final farewell to their great grandfather, Prince Philip, all against the backdrop of a pandemic that has kept even the most famous of families apart at a time when they needed and wanted to be together. So while the decision to christen two of the new arrivals at the same time is highly unusual, it has a deep and rather special significance.

In some ways, it?s a bit of a leveller. Much was made of Princess Eugenie?s own christening at the Church of St. Mary Magdalene at Sandringham in December 1990 when she became the first royal baby to have a public baptism. Now her own son, August Brooksbank, has been christened alongside her cousin?s little boy, Lucas Tindall. And in that way, Eugenie and her fellow royal mum, Zara Tindall, have followed a path trodden by parents across the UK. Many churches now baptise several children at one ceremony or include the christening of a group of youngsters as part of regular service where they are welcomed by the whole congregation. Rather than the traditional royal route of individual ceremonies, these two great grandsons of The Queen have been christened in the same way as thousands of the other babies born this year. And this extraordinary time may well have been a factor in that. Princess Eugenie was due to baptise her son this summer but the pandemic forced a change of plan. While restrictions have eased, concerns linger. One get together means just one set of contacts outside immediate family units.

But it also means quite a but of juggling. The christenings of Lucas and August took place on November 21st 2021, exactly 181 years after the birth of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert?s first child, Princess Victoria. She was the baby for whom the famous Honiton lace christening gown was created. That was retired after the baptism of Lady Louise Mountbatten-Windsor in 2005, as its age had rendered it too fragile for further use. Since then, royal babies have been baptised in a replica. However, as far as we know, just one copy of the gown was made meaning the royal mums either had to do a quick swap in the vestry or their sons were christened in different outfits which would have a symbolism all of its own.

Other royal traditions are easier to observe, even with a double event. We do know that the boys? great uncle, the Prince of Wales, brought back several bottles of sterilised water from the River Jordan from his trip to the Middle East in the past week, meaning the royal christening tradition that sees all Windsor babies baptised with water from this holy place has continued. And if the Lily Font was brought from its home at the Tower of London to the Royal Chapel of All Saints at Windsor for this celebration then it?s big enough for both sets of parents to gather around as their children are welcomed into the Church of England. But perhaps the most significant part of this special event is its date. As well as its link to Victoria and the beginnings of her dynasty, it comes at a deeply personal moment for The Queen. On November 20th 2021, she marked the anniversary of her wedding for the first time since losing her beloved husband. A year earlier, she had sat with him, looking at homemade cards celebrating their long and successful marriage. As 2021 wound to an end with its darkening days and cooling temperatures, she was alone at the Castle where the man she called her ?strength and stay? had died just months earlier. It was, perhaps, one of the hardest days she has known.

Twenty four hours later, the family she built with him came together to rejoice in the two great grandchildren born in the final weeks of his life, babies he had celebrated and who he knew carried his name. August Philip Hawke Brooksbank, born on February 9th 2021, and Lucas Philip Tindall, born on March 21st 2021, may never inherit the throne but they were much loved and much wanted great grandsons for a man who helped shape the House of Windsor in the 20th century. At a time when all that was lost was perhaps felt more keenly by the wife he left behind, the House of Windsor rallied to support the Monarch at one of her saddest times.

And that is perhaps the sweetest symbolism of this rare, double christening.

Mike Tindall has shared in a podcast that Princess Eugenie is one of Lucas' Godmothers.   Reportedly Zara and Mike have in the past asked her royal cousins to be Godparents to their other children with William allegedly being one Mia's Godfathers and Harry being one of Lena's.

Hopefully it is with great pleasure that Princess Eugenie accepted when Michael inquired about the godparent role for Lucas.

While it's not an official event for most of the royals in attendance, there were several BRF extended family members present tonight at the carol concert at Westminster Abbey: Sophie, Beatrice, Edo, Eugenie, Zara and Mike in addition to the hosts Catherine and William. Plenty of hugs all around tonight as they assemble at WA.

First details for the upcoming Commonwealth Day service and events are revealed.

First Details of 2022 Commonwealth Day events revealed ? Royal Central

QuoteThe first details for the 2022 Commonwealth Day programme have been announced.

Shared on the official Commonwealth Twitter account and website, Commonwealth Day 2022 will be celebrated on Monday 14 March 2022 with both an in-person service at Westminster Abbey and virtual events.

?Given that it is Her Majesty?s Jubilee Year, there will be a special focus on the role service plays in the lives of people and communities across the #Commonwealth.?

The theme for this year?s Commonwealth Day matches the theme of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, ?Delivering a Common Future?. The theme will highlight and share how all of the Commonwealth nations ?are ?innovating, connecting and transforming? to help achieve goals like fighting climate change, promoting good governance and boosting trade.?

Commonwealth Day is a significant day in the royal calendar. The Queen takes her role as Head of the Commonwealth seriously, and throughout her reign has continually reinforced its importance.

Traditionally The Queen is joined by the other senior members of the Royal Family for Commonwealth Day. In recent years, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall have played leading roles in the service and presentations.

Upcoming group events to be held in March 2022 for the BRF include the following: The Diplomatic Reception-March 2 at Windsor Castle, The Commonwealth Service-March 14 at Westminster Abbey and the Service of Thanksgiving for the Life of the DoE-March 29 at Westminster Abbey.

The Diplomatic Reception is typically held in early December at Buckingham Palace but has had a date and location change. The royals that have been in attendance in recent years: QEII, PoW/DssoC,  and the Cambridges. The event was last held in December 2019.

The Commonwealth Service has seen these royals in attendance in recent years: QEII, PoW/DssoC, the Cambridges, the Wessexes and the Princess Royal. I expect it will likely be the same attendees. This was one of the last events in  early 2020 to beheld before the worldwide lock down on large group events due to the pandemic. It was also one of the last events that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended with members of the BRF.

As for the Thanksgiving service I would expect to see QEII accompanied by her children (but probably not Andrew), cousins, grandchildren and their spouses. I'd say that there's a chance that some of the older great-grandchildren might be in attendance too. It's possible that more of Prince Phillip's extended family from the UK and Germany will be present as well. It's possible that we could see a few representatives from reigning and non-reigning royal families.  Any staff members who were long associated with the DoE would likely be there. I'd also expect to see representation from the British Government as well as representatives of Phillip's many patronages, charities and honorary military appointments.

I have read but not seen any confirmation yet that the Diplomatic Reception will not be a white tie event this year. It will be cocktail attire for the ladies and suits for the men. No tiaras or orders will be worn either.

I would tend to believe that HM just isn't comfortable wearing full gala attire for this type of event anymore so the rest of the BRF in attendance and the guests would follow suit. I do hope that those guests who typically would wear national dress would be permitted to do so.

It's unfortunate that the Diplomatic Reception has been postponed, but considering HM's health as well as the current state of affairs in the world this seems like a wise decision. While foreign representatives are trained in the diplomatic arts, I believe that there would have been an extremely tense and worrying atmosphere at Windsor Castle especially if the Russian and Ukrainian delegations were to be in attendance.

Queen postpones diplomatic reception at Windsor Castle next week on foreign secretary's advice | UK News | Sky News

QuoteA diplomatic reception which was due to be hosted by the Queen next week at Windsor Castle has been postponed.

Buckingham Palace said the monarch had accepted the foreign secretary's advice to delay the event, which was scheduled for Wednesday.

The Queen had to cancel planned virtual audiences twice this week following her COVID diagnosis, but it's understood that this postponement is because of the conflict in Ukraine.

The Queen would have met hundreds of members of the Diplomatic Corps at the event.

In a statement, Buckingham Palace said: "The Queen has accepted the foreign secretary's advice that the diplomatic reception at Windsor on March 2 should be postponed."
