I'm loving the criticism on Space Tourism by Prince William and directly to Bezos, Elon and Branson. Go William Go.  :shake:

The idea of using 1 billion a pop to travel outerspace, the 100 x pollution in all atmosphere layers rather than spend that money fixing earth. I really hope W sticks to his guns, as the Queen apparently is also emulating.  :high5:

?It?s not a great idea criticising self-made men?. William (as a recipient of inherited wealth, including a yearly multi million pounds allowance) receives criticism from an RR about his remarks in the interview about space travel. And others have come out blasting as well.

^^^ Plenty of defenders as well as YouGov poll results.

From the Daily Mail:

Why Prince William was right to give Bezos a rocket, writes GEOFFREY LEAN

The mob commenting on this article in the Fail, complete with the old comments about royal ?benefit scroungers,? don?t seem to be agreeing with you, or with William!

And actually, although personally I agree that climate change is an extremely important issue three self-made billionaires actually feel the same, and have done something about it, using their own money.

Jeff Bezos is actually committed to spending 1 billion of his own money a year to fight climate change. He has set up the Bezos Earth Fund to help.

Richard Branson has created a $25 million prize for the first person to come up with a way of removing greenhouse gases from the atmosphere. It?s called the Virgin Earth Challenge prize.

And  Elon Musk is responsible for the creation of a $25 million prize for the first person to come up with a way of removing greenhouse gases from the atmosphere. ?XPRIZE Carbon Removal? is aimed at tackling the biggest threat facing humanity - fighting climate change and rebalancing Earth?s carbon cycle.

Funded by Elon Musk and the Musk Foundation, this $100M competition is the largest incentive prize in history, an extraordinary milestone.‎

Sort of puts the Earth Shot prize and initiative into some kind of perspective, doesn?t it? Not the first initiative, not the biggest prize, not the most far-reaching, in fact.

PrincessOfPeace

Jeff Bezos is part of the Earthshot Prize, so he's already working with William. William isn't saying all space exploration is bad but spending billions on a three minute trip to space  may not be the best use of funds.

One thing for sure, William has sparked a global conversation.

Global? I doubt that the conversation or the Earth Shot initiative are what ordinary people around the world are talking about over their breakfast cereal. I participated in a zoom call today with work yesterday and in the leisure break that wasn?t mentioned by anyone. Neither has it been mentioned by any of my friends and family at all.

And another working with Earthshot is Jack Ma?s organisation. Plenty of controversy there if the media want to look for it, but no of course they don?t.

Just what does these 3 billionaires think is going to happen?  Space Tourism.........to me that is a big JOKE.......so the 3 big B's think now is the time for people to pay them to travel in space....making more money as if they are broke.  And this idea of putting industry on what, the moon or a space station......just who do they think will go up there and work in outer space......look at all the technicalities that are involved in doing that.....you need people to work and they just can't be your Tom/Dick or Harry either, you need facilities for living, medical and the list goes on and on...........it might seem like a great idea on paper yet get real and it isn't period.  What a darn waste of money just to say I want to space for 11 minutes and it cost me a quarter of a million dollars..........shake my head in disbelief at how silly space tourism has become.

When Robert Irwin interviewed Prince William about his upcoming Earthshot Prize, the Animal Planet star got some high praise from the Duke of Cambridge.

"Honestly, I was a big fan of your dad [Steve Irwin] and I am so sorry," said Prince William, 39, in a conversation shared exclusively with PEOPLE. "It's no surprise that you're a fan of crocodiles as well. The family trait has continued into the next generation I am sure."

He did create conversation. He was trending worldwide yesterday in SM platforms.

I love this mini controversy between commentators with the billion a pop travel.

yeah baby!

That dress was last publicly worn in California when the couple attended the BAFTA event in Los Angeles  at the tail end of their 2011 Canada tour. Willam's dark green velvet jacket is also a repeat for him. The color reminds me of the shalwar kami worn during their official visit to Pakistan.

Fashion aside, I  am looking forward to seeing who the winners are tonight.
