Tom Markle Jnr's letter would have been effective (if that's the way he feels) if he hadn't lavished a lot of praise on Meghan when the couple were dating and if, only a fortnight ago, he hadn't given an interview saying he was looking forward to being an uncle to Meghan's children when she has them.

Both he and Samantha change on the spin of a dime, and it's obvious that their main grievance is no wedding invitation in spite of the fact that neither of them has seen her for years. And if he's talking family estrangement perhaps he could explain why his two grown sons no longer bear the surname Markle.

I am sure Harry knew all this, hence the family she never had comment.  Perhaps though, since he is pist off with the press pack, he did not expect so much baggage from his other half.

Baggage? Really? The Baggage comes from the gossips on Tumblr IMO. He's finding out how obnoxious her 1/2 siblings really are.

The press did not set up Tumblr some Meghan bashers did. The tabs cherry pick stories from Tumblr.

I think Harry knew all about her. And I would be annoyed at the Tumblr people rather than Meghan.

Meghan was married once and divorced and lived with someone. She is not a stripper or call girl or escort and never was. There is no extra husband.  All this spread on Tumblr.

I think the Meghan bashers don't like Harry himself and trash him holding up Kate and William as "ideals," trash Meghan and want some blonde like Cressida to have married him even though Harry and Cressida broke up, just plain don't think Meghan is Good Enough for "their" Harry. Liked fans enraged that a film star (that they have posters of) is getting married.

The baggage Im referring to are the articles mentioned in the Cold Shoulder thread, it has nothing to do with the 00.01 % of the tumblr or twitter, but massive media outlets that have carried out articles of Who, What etc. of Meghan's past.   According to that article, Harry is mad at the press pack.   

I doubt he expected so much negativity and trashing from the press.

Harry loves Meghan and his family has accepted  her. Not all the "press" trashes her. The "shady" stories did come from the Tumblr people who put out stories that she and harry "broke up" in 2016. And some believed the stories.

Meghan has no "red flags." If she did the Queen would  not have allowed the marriage. The royals have their own red flags or some of them do.  SOME of the family have red flags. Samantha was vicious about her ex stepmother. So they don't just attack Meghan.

For me it didn't.

Kate has her dysfunctional Uncle Gary who got in trouble with the law. Sophie's company was in trouble and the Queen had to bail her out. Charles married Camilla, the ex mistress and other woman in his marriage. Prince Andrew has shady connections. Prince Philip's sisters were married to Nazis. And much much more.

So why is Meghan singled out.

Honestly Meghan is not being "singled out" as most knowledgeable  royal watchers are aware of Harry's,  Kate's, Sophie's, Charles', Andrew's, Phillip's, Anne's etc... own mistakes or those embarrassing episodes which were committed by their family members. It's just that Meghan is now the person in the spotlight because of her upcoming wedding. :shrug: Everything that you've mentioned @sandy was covered by the tabloids years ago and are even remarked upon today. Eventually someone else will take that "spotlight" off Meghan.

I'm sure it's correct TLLK, that Sofia, the Duchess of Windsor, Leti, Maxima etc had nasty stories printed or said about them. However, with the exception of Sofia, most had the benefit of marrying and settling down before Twitter and Tumblr became so prolific.

There are at least a dozen Tumblr sites dedicated to attacking Meghan's morals, character and background daily in the most salacious terms they can find. Their hatred of Meghan is palpable. It leaps from their screens. Then Twitter, which has hundreds of thousands of followers on it each day from all over the world, desseminates the filth and discusses it all over again. And it happens daily.

It's that which makes Meghan's case different from all the rest, the growth of Twitter and Tumblr sites in the past five or six years. And it's very very different to a criticism in a forum or newspaper.

While I do agree @Curryong that social media sites ie Tumblr are a relatively new way to either praise, or viciously criticize or attack a public figure, I can't agree with the statement that Meghan is "singled out" for attacks.

It is unfortunate that she is having to face this now but I do believe that in the months and years to come that the "appeal" to attack her will wear off. Eventually only the truly bizarre and zealous critics will be a small group.

If anyone should know this it would be Camilla who obviously has her vocal critics, but it's nothing compared to what she faced in the past.

If anyone should know this it would be Camilla who obviously has her vocal critics, but it's nothing compared to what she faced in the past.

I distinctly remember suggesting here that Camilla would be a very good role model and confidant for Meghan. Then some bright spark started complaining that no she would not. Apparently since she was not the "other woman" and her divorce did not involve children and since her husband was "in love with her"; there was nothing she could learn from Camilla. Indeed, someone here also selected a few rather unfortunate pictures which seemed to show Meghan snubbing Camilla at Church (btw I don't believe she was).

Meghan would do very well to learn from Camilla. She apparently has ambitions of being the "new Diana" but if she gets there, it might not end well for her. You need patience, a thick skin, discretion and a good sense of humor to survive as a member of the BRF. Some people make it their life mission to criticize everything you do and reiterate all the mistakes you are accused of making in the past. A wedding or birth of a child is not enough to stop their negativity. You just ignore them and do your job which is primarily to support your husband (not to change or reform the monarchy).

BTW if you are one of those that have been incessantly criticizing Camilla for the last 30 years, you have absolutely no moral right to complain when to criticize Meghan. You will just have to put up I am afraid, something that many of us who are Camilla fans have learnt the hard way.  :teehee: :lol:

Sadly it seems these people did not do their maths: 1. early dawn transportation home/airport/home 2. airport/windsor/airport 3. airfare 4. food and beverage 5. emergency money just in case a sleep over, etc.   All this read by real selected people in twitter.   I do hope their organizations and families may help them with the expenses.  Clearly they all were selected because they want to be in the Windsor Round About in front of the St. Georges Chapel.

Times are hard if the queen of England (I know that now it is the UK) cannot afford to feed and entertain guests at her grandson's wedding. Why invite them if you can't look after them? Perhaps a small wedding with a few wealthy friends might have been in order?

It's exactly the same arrangements per refreshments that was made at Sophie and Edward's wedding. They didn't have burger and doughnut stands on the Long Walk. And KP have apparently stated that light snacks and refreshments will be available at the castle.

To be fair with both the Guardian and the Express; the twitter real people who have been invited and are complaining have not received or to date have been returned with concrete confirmed information of snacks provided by the Monarchy or Government.  This information request is for these people as they have explained to fill out forms to their organization requesting the moneys for the trip.  Some are out of the requesting money period...like any serious organization advanced planning for expenses needs to be allocated 1 month prior, so come April 19, complaints started to spring.
