That is probably so, TLLK, with crossovers etc at appropriate moments. I do think Fox might join in a bit. However, that link I posted had CBS plans and NBC I think. What might make a bit of a difference, extra interest this time with these networks is that an American is marrying into the BRF.

wannable

I said it, she invited people she has met once or twice, influencers, it's a celeb wedding. Her uncles,
, Markle and Ragland whom helped her in life, diplomatic temp job and the bishop, and whom not spoken to press weren't invited.

On another note Anne and her husband was taken the seat next to William at the Queens bday, HM ERII was flanked by Charles and William. I understand Prince Harry is quite upset about the seating arrangement. Oh dear.

Curryong

We don't know how many times in the past twenty years Meghan has seen her Bishop uncle, an eccentric apparently, who is the self appointed head of a tiny 'church'. Nor do we know how many times Meghan and her uncle Michael have met since she was at university.

The vet who treated her dog's legs has probably become a friend if the treatment to Guy lasted months. Plus, we do not know whether people like Serena Williams are coming. It's all speculation by a newspaper as to which celebrities are guests. As for the Beckhams, they went to William's wedding and he and Harry both know them well.

Why would Harry be upset about the seating arrangements, which were very informal?  (Edward, for example, who outranks Anne, sat at the back.) Spoken to Harry personally, have you?

On the internet I noticed that people who didn't like Harry and Meghan were gloating and rejoicing that he and Meghan were in the second row, and you have just proved my point!

He can't have been in that much bad odour with is grandmother as he (as newly appointed Head of the Commonwealth Trust) was one of only two people beside the POW who were called on stage to give speeches on the Queen, his grandmother's birthday. He may well have sat there so as to be able to slip out to make his speech.

Ah that does explain why they won't receive an invitation. <_< Thank you for the information @Curryong.

I believe it will be NBC covering the Royal Wedding. They've usually been the network that has been at all of the weddings from Charles/Diana to William/Catherine.

Any other Americans remember if ABC or CBS were there? @sandy, @Trudie, @wannable?

I believe all three major networks televised the wedding in '81 however like Sandy I watched NBC

I heard nothing about his being "upset." He's getting married to the woman he loves and wants. And she's marrying him the man she loves. He is over the moon IMO. ANd so is she.

It's a Royal Wedding. Not a celebrity wedding. How many celebrity weddings feature the entire royal family attending it?

wannable

There's a pic of Harry looking at Anne, not exactly a smiley smiling. Edward gave his seat to his daughter, the rest of the family are in place at the Royal box in the theatre.

I find it strange that family that helped her and who have not spoken to the media are not invited as well. So left side will be interesting.

sandy

I notice that interpretations are made by how Harry "Feels" by a single photograph. Harry is going to be front and Center with his bride in less than a month. WHy would Harry have to grin sappily at Anne to show he is happy. Then he'd be criticized.  The man can't win with some.

I don't know who's invited but whoever they are, Meghan will still get bashed by her detractors.

wannable

The press surely will be reporting who is who left side, perhaps it is detracting.

The whole picture of the seating last night was that, H&M seated where Anne and husband should have been, whilst Edward gave his seat to his daughter, and took his daughter's seat third row.

Thank you @Trudie. I recall watching NBC in 1981 too as well as in 1986 for Andrew and Sarah's wedding. I do remember watching a little bit of Princess Anne's wedding but would have no idea which network was covering it then.

I saw Princess Annes wedding while in social studies in middle school I still remember my teacher having a crush on Charles but again I don't know what network broadcast it.

TLLK

^^^@Trudie-I was in elementary school when Anne's  wedding took place and my mother insisted that my sister and I watch as much of the telecast as possible.I Consequently this did make us tardy for the day. Unfortunately my mother sent us off to school without a note explaining our tardiness. Our explanation that we were watching a Protestant British Princess Anne getting married was not well received by our principal Sr. Una who was a nun from Ireland.  :hehe:

Curryong

Sr. Una should have looked on the bright side, TLLK, you both could have had the whole day off in Anne's honour.

TLLK

My poor mother was likely torn between being an Anglophile and having all three kids out of the house for six hours.

The seating arrangements were probably worked out ahead of time. Why wouldn't the Queen want her only daughter near her? I don't see any problem with it for Harry.

Harry and Meghan should not get upset  (I actually think it was just one photograph). They will be on the second row for most of their life in the royal family. The high point of them is when Charles is King and Harry is a King's younger son. After that they will go the way of the likes of Princess Margaret and Prince Andrew. In all probability their children will have to find work and not be full time members of the BRF. Anne is the queen's only daughter and second child so occasionally she will be seated close to her mother. No snub IMO. Besides Meghan and Harry have a very long way to go before they can reach Anne's workload and contribution to the institution.

That is why all that fanciful speculation about Meghan "changing" the BRF is in my view misplaced. She will be a relatively minor member of the family and it would cause outrage if she attempted to "change" the institution. As far as consorts are concerned, she will always have to defer to Camilla and Catherine. Her diary will largely be dictated by the wishes of the presiding monarch. There will be no room for her to be "the new Diana". If she tries to force things, she will get the shock of her life. If that family managed to neutralize and silence her future mother-in-law, Meghan will be mincemeat for them if she becomes too revolutionary. Better to wait to be asked and be pleasant to everybody in the family.

Curryong

Of course Harry and Meghan weren't upset by the seating arrangements at the concert. Meghan has never ever said that she wants to change the BRF. That's tabloid talk. She hasn't said a word.

And Harry will be a King's son, one of only two. After that he will be King William's only sibling. (Andrew is one of four.) And following that, if there is still a monarchy, Harry will be the only Royal uncle of King George.

We don't know how many of William's children will go into public life/perform royal duties. It could be that Charlotte and baby number three won't wish to. William and Harry are very close as brothers. In the next reign, under Charles's slimmed down monarchy, Harry and Meghan will be needed. George may not go into full time royal duties for the next quarter of a century. And a King's only other son and an only brother are never minor royals. Meghan will take Harry's status.

sandy

I think George and Charlotte (who eventually IMO will be Princess Royal) will participate. The younger one (or others if t hey have more) won't. IMO anyway.,

One poster thinks Harry "looked" upset. Why would he be upset?

Charles and Camilla are not King and Queen consort yet. So Meghan will defer to Her Majesty. Meghan is being criticized for something she never publicly said. I doubt she'll "defer" to Kate, until Kate down the road becomes Queen Consort. I doubt Kate would expect Meghan to curtsy to her or "defer" to her at this stage.

Meghan is not even married to Harry yet? Why do you think she would "force things.? I hope she has a good work ethic.

Curryong

Some details have emerged of the music that will be played at the wedding, including the soloists. There will be a gospel choir. A young cellist was rung by Meghan herself. There will also be some baroque music played by the orchestra. Sounds like Charles has taken a keen interest!
