Of course relatives and personal friends will give gifts to the couple but I believe, and this is only my opinion, nothing to back it, that there will be a request from Harry and Meghan that any gifts coming from Britain and the Commonwealth and probably the US private citizens or public figures will be in the form of charitable donations. I can't imagine Harry doing otherwise. Sentebale is close to his heart, so are vets charities within the Royal Foundation and sanitation, clean water in the Third World is important to his fiancee. These two don't want for anything. Better that those in need get something. I'd imagine these sorts of announcements with come out a couple of months before the wedding.

As for who's going to give pressies we probably won't know in several cases. Harry's popular here in Oz and I can imagine the GG sending something as a private individual. Similarly with the GG of Canada, PMs of islands in the Caribbean where he's toured.

I've got a feeling Theresa could well gift something and the Camerons, whom Harry's met several times. Head of Household Cavalry, almost certain. Sometimes things blur. The Scandi royals like King Harald and Queen Sonja, close to the BRF for example, and the Danes and Greeks, might well send gifts. The Obamas, and Trudeaus are almost certain to do so.

TLLK

I agree @Curryong that there is likely to be a charity fund set up much like we saw with the Oranges, the Cambridges etc...though I'm sure that there will be a catalogue of personal gifts that are given by friends, family, Middle Eastern monarchs (jewelry) etc..

Lesotho Prince Seeiso to grace Prince Harry's wedding - YouTube

QuoteLesotho Prince, Chief Bereng Seeiso, will be among the honoured guests at the wedding of the year. He will get to celebrate the prestigious occasion as his friend, Prince Harry the younger of two sons of Britain's Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana marries US actress Meghan Markle in May 2018. Prince Harry and Prince Seeiso share strong ties which have extended to multiple charity projects and business opportunities in Lesotho.

Curryong

I am glad to see this. These two Princes have been close since Harry's teens. They really are the best of friends and I'm sure Prince Seeiso and wife will enjoy seeing this wedding.

Imagine that... a western European/British wedding with a "white and classic" theme. :P (Insert sarcasm at DM writers.)

^ From last week to today, there's a downplay of the wedding now for family and friends.  Does this mean no invitations to first ladies and royal houses around the world? government officials?

According to this article, H&M are inviting "Close" family and friends.

QuoteRoyal Household sources have made clear that Prince Harry's nuptials were not a state occasion and would be, by royal standards at least, a more low-key, family affair than the wedding of his parents or brother.
'Although the wedding is being attended by the Queen, it isn't an official, state occasion. It is a family event,' the source said, adding that US president Donald Trump is unlikely to receive an invite.
'Unless the President was a close personal friend, which he is not, there would be no protocol, no reason for him to be invited. Harry and Meghan have made clear that this is very much an occasion and a celebration for their close family and friends.'
Downing Street said it was a matter for the Royal Household. Previous royal weddings of those low down the succession list have not been attended by US presidents.

I think the Spencers will be invited to Harry's the same way they were invited to William's wedding.

TLLK

Yes @sandy and I expect that  they might be seated across the aisle from the Windsors with Meghan's family members who will be in attendance much like they were at the Cambridges' wedding.  :)

This is what Meghan Markle's surname will be when she marries Harry

QuoteMeghan Markle may have one of the world's most recognisable names, but when she marries Prince Harry on May 19, 2018, she'll have to get used to being called something else entirely.

Markle will be switching her birth name, Rachel Meghan Markle, for Rachel Meghan Mountbatten-Windsor.

The surname is reflective of both Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip's surnames, following a change made by HRH in the 1960s. The official British royal family website says:

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Wedding: Everything We Know So Far

QuoteWedding bells are ringing! Ever since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced their engagement on November 27, the world has been anxiously awaiting their wedding day. QuoteSources tell me that Meghan Markle has officially picked a wedding dress designer and had her first fitting at Kensington Palace last week👰🏻
BFF and bridal expert Jessica Mulroney is guiding Meghan though the process and quietly flew in to London on Jan 10, spending four days at the couple?s Nottingham Cottage home.
I?m told that they went through a number of options with the designer and Meghan was ?incredibly excited? to see things start coming together.
Jessica, who is an accomplished fashion advisor and bridal stylist, has helped piece together a number of Meghan?s most recent looks (including her iconic engagement announcement outfit). She is also helping with several other wedding day elements.
Right now only a small, select group of people know the designer?s name, so don?t expect to find out any time soon. Even Harry made himself scarce during the first fitting!

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Wedding Page Boys - Who Will Be a Page Boy at Royal Wedding 2018?

QuoteUnlike in the U.S., where wedding parties are filled with close friends of the bride and groom, royal wedding attendants are typically kids, either young relatives, or the children of the bride and groom's inner-circle.

Here's who we predict will serve as page boys on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's big day?and as royal expert Marlene Koenig told us earlier, "It is very likely that Prince George and Princess Charlotte of Cambridge will be a page boy and a bridesmaid...Anyone else is a guess."

Breaking some exciting Harry and Meghan wedding news on @GMA this morning. Stay tuned!

Considering that the engagement dress, price and supposed sheerness (though it had a modesty panel at the front) went down like a lead balloon in some quarters, I really really really hope that Meghan consults with others besides Jessica Mulroney about her wedding gown. I don't even know if Jessica's was the presiding confidante with regard to that engagement dress as Lainey's article suggests, but sometimes girlfriends who don't know the social mores of another country where you are going to live and work aren't the best guides.

I read elsewhere that Harry made himself scarce the weekend that Jessica stayed. I'll bet he did! Two women talking fashion for hours  in a two bedroomed house, lol! I also hope that Meghan doesn't pick Stella McCartney as her wedding dress designer (not impressed ever with Stella's clothing) but goes for someone new, fresh, but who actually has some idea about wedding dress design, which is quite a specialised area really.

And please, no lace! I am so over it for weddings and it's not a fabric I particularly like anyway. It always looks itchy! I'm hoping for something simple, classic, in a soft material, A-line, a bit of detailing (I don't think Meghan is a woman who wears a lot of embroidery etc anyway) with a new tiara and a not too long veil.

wannable

^ I like her latest 2 outfits because it is so different from what I wear (mismatched or not, she makes it work, who would have thought her yesterday look with the green bag, once coat off, the inner jacket was grey checkered, not so keen with using different earrings, but I had not even noticed the detail) - I'm more of the girly dress a la Kate style for everyday Wear To Work, not much of a pants user.

So, I'm looking forward to watch this wedding and what she and basically all the ladies, what they will be wearing.

Why Meghan Markle Will Likely Keep Her Laid-Back Style | PEOPLE.com

QuoteJust because Meghan Markle?s about to become royalty, doesn?t mean she?ll start copying Kate Middleton?s style. Here?s why Meghan will likely be able to continue setting her own rules, especially when it comes to her fashion choices.

?Both Princess Kate and Meghan are established women in their mid-30s with their own style,? royal expert Imogen Lloyd Webber explains on People Now, suggesting that Meghan will be able to keep up with her low-key style ? from forgoing stockings and carrying oversized purses to showing off her perfect messy bun look.

The article mentioned that Meghan "might also have the Spencer tiara".
Numerous people have previously explained that the Spencer Tiara is not part of the British Royal Jewels. It belongs to Charles, Earl Spencer's family.

TLLK

@Jenee-It seems that the Daily Mail is the only publication that doesn't realize that many members of  the BRF are often scheduled to be at their various activities on the same day!

^I've also heard the rumour on the internet that Meghan has been offered a Spencer tiara for the wedding. It's been going around for several weeks now, just a Twitter rumour, and a blind item. I don't know what to think of it. Common sense would say 'not very likely.' However, stranger things have happened.

What holds me back from fully believing this is the fact that Charles Spencer holds both of the family tiaras and so far they have been used for Spencer brides only. I'm quite doubtful that the noble Earl (lol) has such a strong relationship with his nephew Harry that he would offer to lend him either of the diadems for his bride. However, maybe William and Harry have become much closer to their maternal family members since the twentieth anniversary of their mother's death. And we do have testimony from Meghan that she has met Diana's sisters. I just pray it's not going to be the one worn in 1981 by Diana. Suppose we'll just have to wait and see.

I agree @Curryong that while it is possible that the brothers now have a stronger relationship with Uncle Charles, it seems to me that probably the family tiaras are being reserved for 1. Women who have the surname Spencer. 2. The daughters of female Spencer family members (Sarah and Jane's daughters). 3. Women who marry into the Spencer family.

I would be very, very surprised if Meghan is offered one of the Spencer tiaras. IMHO it will likely be one of the BRF tiaras  that will be available in May. (Halo will be on tour.)
