Prince Charles Tries His Hand at Carpentry on Tour of Canada

Prince Charles looked to be having a banging good time as he visited a woodwork department in Charlottetown, Canada on Tuesday. 
The future King and his wife Camilla were on the third day of their royal tour of the country, when they paid a visit to Holland College.

As Charles, 65, stopped by the community college's centre for applied science and technology, he chatted to students and eagerly took part in a carpentry workshop.

"It's the Flintstones," Charles joked as he picked up a mallet. The royal appeared to struggle slightly as he lifted the heavy load and tried to hammer in a peg, saying, "This is what you've all been waiting for," before breaking into laughter at his attempt.

Day Four: Canada Royal Visit

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall were greeted by students an event to celebrate 'Aerospace and Innovation in Manitoba' at Stevenson Hangar in Winnipeg.

Their Royal Highnesses, accompanied by Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper spoke to the youngsters as they learned about the aerospace and aviation industry. The Prince and The Duchess were given the chance to test the flight of their own paper planes by throwing them at a target.

His Royal Highness asked one group of students whether they enjoyed learning about science and technology at the aircraft hangar.

'It beats sitting in the classroom,' he joked.

Your Honours, Premier, Mr. Speaker, Members of the Legislative Assembly, Distinguished guests, 

I am most grateful to Your Honour and to you, Premier, for your very generous and kind words of welcome. I cannot tell you what a special privilege it is to be able to honour today some of your finest citizens from across the Province in the Order of Manitoba.  Each one of these worthy recipients has, in his or her own special way, greatly enriched this Province and made an enormous difference to the lives of others. 

Ladies and Gentlemen, my wife and I would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations and thanks to you all for your outstanding accomplishments.

I know very well of the reputation for extraordinary resilience acquired by the citizens of Manitoba, a Province so often tested by adversity.  By way of a reminder, on our way to Winnipeg yesterday evening we flew over Duff's Ditch, an innovative and forward-looking initiative of the 1960s that continues to defend this community against the might of the Red River.

The mood was one of sheer excitement as The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall celebrated 'Aerospace and Aviation in Manitoba Day' at Red River College's Aviation Campus on Wednesday, upon embarking on the last leg of their third royal tour to Canada.

Joined by Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and his wife Laureen, Their Royal Highnesses were besieged with cheers and the waving of flags as over 300 elementary schoolchildren joyfully welcomed them into the Stevenson Hangar, an aircraft maintenance training facility at the Winnipeg Airport.

This was an opportunity for the royal couple to witness firsthand the unique partnerships between industry and educational stakeholders in Manitoba's aerospace and aviation sectors, as well as the initiatives that exist to encourage young people to consider pursuing education and careers in these fields.

The royal couple met with dignitaries, military personnel and aviation industry workers, but were especially eager to interact with Grade 6 schoolchildren whose science projects were prominently displayed throughout the hangar.

Drag 'Queen' Leaves Charles Unamused: Prince Grimaces As He Is Forced to Sit Through Excruciating Male Impersonation of His Mother  (VIDEO)

The excruciating moment Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles were forced to watch a male comedian dress up as the Queen and prance around on stage has been caught on camera.

The royal couple can hardly conceal their disgust in the video, filmed at an official event in Charlottetown on Canada's Prince Edward Island on Monday night.

As Canadian funnyman Wade Lynch impersonates Her Majesty, the pair remain stonefaced and grimace when the fake Queen declares: 'There are two members of our audience that call me by quite another name and that is of course "Mummy." Hello kids. Surprise.'

Prince Edward Island's Premier Robert Ghiz, sitting immediately to Camilla's left, was clearly humiliated at the entertainment officials chose to dish up to their special guests.

Prince of Wales Tries Out Google Glass As He Visits Canada's 'Innovation Alley'

Google Glass has been given the Royal seal of approval after the Prince of Wales tried Google's controversial eyewear on his tour of Canada.  Charles was visiting an area known as Innovation Alley on Adelaide Street, where a number of local startups have their offices.

He donned a pair of the smart specs to try out an app designed to help workmen keep up with the jobs they have to do.

Charles tried out the energy sector app VisualSpection, where he was shown a preview by founder David Enns.  The Google Glasses app is designed to improve the productivity and accuracy of utility workers inspecting and reporting problems in the field.

Charles Given Mini Flying Jacket for Prince George So He Can Follow In William's Footsteps

He may be just 10 months old, but Prince George is already gearing up to fly a plane like his father.  And it seems granddad Prince Charles - who was handed a mini flying jacket for the royal infant - didn't know what to think of the prospect.

Holding up the gift from Stevenson Campus Air Hanger in Winnipeg, Canada, the Prince of Wales stared for a few moments before finally breaking out into a chuckle.

George's father, Prince William, has been an RAF pilot for five years, and is now training to pass his commercial flying licence.  And with his new jacket, it seems the little infant is all set to carry on the tradition.

Prince Charles Builds Rapport with Polar Bear Amid Putin Furore  (VIDEO)

The heir to the throne may have angered Russia by comparing Vladimir Putin to Hitler but at least one bear enjoys his company as he visits a zoo in Canada.

Prince Charles visited Assiniboine Park Zoo in Manitoba, Canada, where he had a rare opportunity to feed a polar bear.  He used a pair of long metal tongs to pinch a small fish, then fed it through a metal fence to the polar bear who was awaiting the meal.

When asked if it was the first polar bear he has fed, Charles responded with a chuckle, saying, "I don't do it very often."

75th Royal Ballet anniversary coin unveiled by Duchess of Cornwall

The Duchess of Cornwall has unveiled a new coin from The Royal Canadian Mint to celebrate the 75th anniversary of  Royal Winnipeg Ballet.

A fan of the ballet, Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages presented Camilla with one of the limited edition coins and said: "The Royal Winnipeg Ballet is among Canada's most prestigious and dynamic cultural institutions, renowned for teaching, creating and performing outstanding dance for the past 75 years,"

Our Government is a proud supporter of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet and wishes it prolonged success as it continues to flourish in Winnipeg."

Founded in 1939, the Royal Winnipeg Ballet (formerly The Canadian School of Ballet) is considered one of the world's premier dance companies; the company tours with dozens of performances annually. In 1952, the company receives the first Royal charter granted by Queen Elizabeth II, becoming the first Royal ballet company of the Commonwealth.
