Sir David gave George a sharks tooth. And Charlotte looks thrilled at Sir David?s appearance. Such cute kids :happy:
Sir David Attenborough has attended a private viewing of his new documentary at Kensington Palace, hosted by the Duke of Cambridge.
During his visit, the naturalist gave Prince George a fossilised giant tooth from an extinct shark. The young prince looked captivated as he handled the tooth of a carcharocles megalodon, a shark that was once a sea predator.
Sir David and Prince William both campaign on environmental issues.

Charlotte and Louis are both getting very tall! George was sitting down, so it's hard to tell if he did a lot of growing this summer as well.

Malta wants the tooth back
Sir David has had the tooth since the 1960s. I think its his to give.

I know life is difficult at presnet but is this the best they can do for a story? People making a fuss about a fossilised tooth?
People, especially reporters, make fusses about a great many petty and stupid things.

Yes, and it does appear that they were impressed with the opportunity. I myself was also very impressed with Sir. Attenborough - for a man of his age he is amazingly spry and engaged. It's good for folks to see that.

From what I can remember the Cambridges are doing the same thing that Charles and Diana did when their sons were young. They flew together as a family until William's 12th birthday. With air travel being much safer than it was after QEII ascended to the throne, the greatest risk in royal travel is when they travel by car.

The Queen last attended in 2012 and since 2013 it's been the PoW and his family who have been the regular attendees alternating years. Since then the PoW/DssoC have been there twice. The Cambridges have been there 4 times. Prince Harry had one solo attendance and then one with Meghan.

I must say it is hard to figure out which of the evening gowns that Catherine wore lately that I love, the gold or the green....she looks fabulous, just stunning again. And that head of hair is magnificent, Catherine has in time become an extremely beautiful woman who is very comfortable in her own skin being the Duchess of Cambridge and her role in the royal family. The woman is to be reckoned with I assume......and I bet she is learning the ways of the Firm from one of the best....HM!

New: The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, accompanied by other members of the Royal Family, will attend the Together At Christmas community carol service at Westminster Abbey on Wednesday 8th December.
The event is hosted and spearheaded by Kate, and supported by The Royal Foundation, and will pay tribute to the incredible work of individuals and organisations across the UK who have supported their communities through the COVID-19 pandemic.
The service will also provide a moment for the nation to come together and reflect, and celebrate the acts of kindness that we have witnessed across our nation.
It will combine traditional elements of a carol service with a modern twist, and feature carols sung by Westminster Abbey choir alongside musical performances by Leona Lewis and Ellie Goulding and readings by speakers including British Paralympian and junior doctor Kim Daybell.
The event will be broadcast as part of Royal Carols: Together At Christmas, a special programme which will be aired by ITV at 7:30pm on Christmas Eve.

The song is so poignant and the performance brought tears to my eyes. Now I understand why Catherine chose to wear the red version of the coat worn to the DoE's funeral. I have not had the opportunity to watch the entire concert but I have viewed the many galleries. One question that was popping up in the comments was "Why is Draco Malfoy there at the concert?" 😅 lt seems that actor Tom Felton who did a reading, will never be able to leave behind his most famous role.

I don?t know if anybody else here has ever visited the Foundling Museum. I did many years ago now and I have to say that it was one of the most fascinating places I?ve ever visited. There were mementos there of little keepsakes left by the young mothers with their babies they had to give up from the 18th century onwards. If you ever are in London do try to visit.
@Curryong- I wonder if anyone would ever be able to visit all of London's museums from the grandest to the smallest quirky ones. The keepsakes left by the children's mothers would be heartbreaking, but at least these children did have an opportunity that so many millions did not have throughout history.
More on the Foundling Museum and how it's beginnings in 1739-1954 led the way towards the modern foster care system. Over two hundred years of providing care to children so they could have a better chance and start in life.

QuoteWhen Thomas Coram (1668-1751) returned to London in 1704 after eleven years in America, it was to a city that was a powerhouse of industry, invention, global trade and wealth. It was also noisy, disease-ridden, polluted and the site of desperate poverty. The situation for children was particularly bleak with soaring mortality rates. Parents who were unable to care for their babies due to poverty or illegitimacy had few options, and many chose to abandon them in the street ? it is estimated that around a thousand babies a year were abandoned in London. It was this clear need for practical action that spurred Coram to start his campaign.
After 17 years of tireless campaigning, Thomas Coram finally received a Royal Charter from King George II in 1739, enabling him to establish his Foundling Hospital to care for and educate some of London?s most vulnerable citizens. Instrumental in helping Coram realise his vision were the artist William Hogarth and the composer George Frideric Handel, who helped establish the Hospital as one of London?s most fashionable venues. Hogarth encouraged leading artists of the day to donate work, thereby establishing the UK?s first public art gallery. Handel donated an organ and conducted annual benefit concerts of Messiah in the Hospital?s chapel. Their creative generosity set the template for the ways in which the arts can support philanthropy.
From 1741 when the first babies were admitted, to 1954 when the last pupil was placed in foster care, the Foundling Hospital cared for and educated around 25,000 children. The Foundling Museum opened in 2004. The building at 40 Brunswick Square was constructed in the 1930s on the site of the Foundling Hospital, and incorporates many architectural features from the original eighteenth-century building.
No TLLK, I think even Londoners would have a hard time visiting all these museums on a regular basis! One I desperately would love to see is the Black Museum at Scotland Yard. Artefacts from famous to obscure crimes of all kinds from murder down in Britain from the mid-19th century onwards are stored there. I never shall because it is only open to serving Met officers and the occasional VIP.
I knew about Handel and Hogarth?s backing of the Foundling Hospital only when I visited the Museum. Both were genuinely compassionate men, well aware of the terrible social problems of their day. Awful to think that girls were driven to leave their babies in the streets!! Even up to the period between the wars river police and others were regularly plucking the dead bodies of infants from the Thames, as well. Thank God for Thomas Coram for showing these women there was a way to save their babies.

Yeah, the visit of the Cambridges to the Ukrainian Cultural Centre went down really well, especially William?s remarks regarding conflicts in Europe vs Asia and Africa in recent times. Apparently he has never heard of the Bosnian conflict or the Hungarian uprising or the Prague Spring, let alone a civil war that raged in Greece straight after the war.
?Whew, Prince William?s racist comments at a Ukrainian center were a two-day story. It might even be a 72 hour story. Even Keenshot didn?t get this much ink!! People are still putting the pieces together of exactly what happened, but here?s what everyone knows now: Richard Palmer of the Daily Express was the pool reporter at Wednesday?s event at the Ukrainian center. Palmer reported William?s comments this way: ?He said Britons were more used to seeing conflict in Africa and Asia. ?It?s very alien to see this in Europe. We are all behind you,? he said. But he added that he, like many, wanted to do more to help. ?We feel so useless,? he said.? William got absolutely roasted as a racist throughout the day and evening Wednesday, and throughout Thursday, #PrinceWilliamIsARacist was still trending on Twitter.
On Thursday, an ITV journalist posted her video from the event, in which William is overheard saying: ?Everyone is horrified by what they are seeing. The news every day, it?s almost unfathomable. For our generation, it?s very alien to see this in Europe. We?re all right behind you.? Within that one statement, he did not reference Asia or Africa, but he absolutely said ?For our generation, it?s very alien to see this in Europe,? which is ahistorical bullsh-t.
Palmer then went to the Press Association and asked them to change his pool reporting, and Palmer offered this passive-voiced explanation on his Twitter: ?He doesn?t appear to have compared it to conflicts in Africa and Asia. In the chaos, a remark he made was misheard, starting a social media storm. Apologies for reporting that online.? The ?social media storm? is an understatement, as other royal reporters attacked other journalists for reporting Palmer?s words. It was all a huge mess.
ITV was the only television media there. William never mentioned Africa or Asia in his comments, and in fact Nevers mentions 'war'.
He said this sort of thing was alien to his generation. And it is. Even Scobie had to delete his tweet. This Tweet from The Telegraph sums it up for me:
Spare me the quasi-intellectual hand-wringing about Prince William. He said, off the cuff, "for our generation [he's 39] it's alien to see this in Europe. We're all right behind you. We're thinking about you." Struggling to imagine a more innocuous comment.

And during the early 90's, William and Harry were dealing with a far more personal but sadly public war happening in their young lives.
Actually I am pleased that it's been a relatively peaceful era for the continent and that Europe has been able to offer asylum, humanitarian aid and military assistance when required in other parts of the world. And once again it's offering the same to Ukraine 🇺🇦.

I disagree actually. Children can usually remember conflicts happening. Most children who grew up in both World Wars had vivid memories of bombs and relatives missing and dead. And I was a child in 1956 yet can clearly remember the Russian invasion of Hungary. That was in spite of my mother?s long stays in hospital at the time and her death from cancer the next year.
The problem with Prince William's 'racist' comments? They're fake news - he didn't say them at all.

There was just one small problem: the Duke did not actually say the comments ascribed to him, and is now facing a "fake news" backlash after the story took on a life of its own online.

President Zelensky is roughly 4 years and 5 months older (end of Generation X) than Prince William (beginning of Millennial). Now while they're technically not from the same generation, but as Europeans they appear to share a similar view of the scale of the terror that the Ukraine is experiencing now at the hands of an invading force from a foreign nation.

Meaning they broke the 'discrimination' rule and the 'ranking' rule. Both the ATP and WTA have already pronounced against the AELTC (Wimbledon) and the LTA. Yes, it?s made news in Australia. Just awful. What is just as bad is that one of the suspects was found dead too, and his brother is still on the run. These sort of mass stabbings are thankfully much rarer than those perpetrated by guns but the consequences for the victims and their families is much the same. As for the man on the run, these sparsely populated prairie provinces you would think that any stranger turning up into small communities would stick out like a sore thumb, but apparently not.

Well, there?s a turn up for the books. A time for reconciliation perhaps as the grief for their grandmother continues. Perhaps, with this show of unity Levin, Morgan, Wootton and co might shut up for once, along with the red top tabloids.

That was and is extremely well done by William and Catherine to have the Sussex's go on a walk about with them during this time......a very smart PR move ......William has surely learned from his grandmother how to handle a dire situation.
Yes, extremely well done by Prince William and Catherine. The brothers and their wives have had their differences over the past few years but are very much united in their grief and love for their grandmother and father, the King.

A ligh'hearted moment during the meet and greet at Sandringham:
One well-wisher, Gemma Schultz, spoke to William after he noticed her baby wearing a top with Paddington on it and commented about the bear's popularity following the Queen's skit with the marmalade sandwich-loving character for her Platinum Jubilee Celebrations in June. The Prince joked: 'I was saying, I think Paddington might have knocked the Corgi off the top spot now. The Corgis won't take that very well.'
On another note the google map tracker indicated from 1: p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Mary Madgalene Church at Sandringham estate was ''temporarily' closed. It usually is open daily until 5:00 p.m.
