As most of Willam's generation were children during the Civil War that followed the death of Tito, I would say that a full scale invasion by a neighboring European sovereign state has been an alien event for that generation. And during the early 90's,  William and Harry were dealing with a far more personal but sadly public war happening in their young lives.

Actually I am pleased that it's been a relatively peaceful era for the continent and that Europe has been able to offer asylum, humanitarian aid and military assistance when required in other parts of the world. And once again it's offering the same to Ukraine 🇺🇦.
All in all the press. have apologized and corrected their earlier replies and reporters are moving on to more compelling and sobering stories coming from the real battles

I disagree actually. Children can usually remember conflicts happening. Most children who grew up in both World Wars had vivid memories of bombs and relatives missing and dead. And I was a child in 1956 yet can clearly remember the Russian invasion of Hungary. That was in spite of my mother?s long stays in hospital at the time and her death from cancer the next year.

The problem with Prince William's 'racist' comments? They're fake news - he didn't say them at all.

From The Telegraph:

As the biographer of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, he has been a vocal supporter of their campaign against fake news and online mistruths.

So when Omid Scobie criticised the Duke of Cambridge for "ignorant" comments about the war in Ukraine which he suggested "normalised war and death in Africa and Asia", legions of admirers around the world followed suit with outrage.

Martin Luther King Jr's daughter led the way in saying the Duke's comments were "horrific"; a CNN anchor told his 3.3 million Twitter followers Prince William ought to "read a book about your own family, dude".

There was just one small problem: the Duke did not actually say the comments ascribed to him, and is now facing a "fake news" backlash after the story took on a life of its own online.

Basically the Sussex fans (including Omid) are pushing for the slander via social media. Many admit they don't care if it's fake news, they want it to get more traction just because.  Plenty receipts. It's a crazy world we live in.

The mild apology of Richard Palmer, IMO as I said, his days are counted (career)

Except it isnt and hasn5 been ?alien in Europe? in William?s generation. William has even lived through conflict on the continent in his lifetime ? including the Kosovo War from 1998 to 1999, and the Russian invasion of Crimea in 2014.

President Zelenskyy to US Congress: "This is a terror that Europe has not seen, has not seen for 80 years..."

Pretty much what William said. Not that there's never been any wars, but this level of destruction hasn't been seen in his generation. It's alien to William's generation.

Kate's Sweet Exchange with Little Girl on St Patrick's Day - YouTube

Quote'Kate's Sweet Exchange with Little Girl on St Patrick's Day'

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge celebrated St Patrick's Day with the Irish Guards, but it was an officer's young daughter who stole the show.

During the ceremony which was held at Mons Barracks in Aldershot, Hampshire, 20-month-old Gaia Money grabbed two bouquets from the duchess.

Whilst kneeling down, Kate said: "Shall we swap. Now you have both of them."

President Zelensky is roughly 4 years and 5 months older (end of Generation X)  than Prince William (beginning of Millennial). Now while they're technically not from the same generation, but as  Europeans  they  appear to share a similar view of the scale of the terror that the Ukraine is experiencing now at the hands of an invading force from a foreign nation.

I was intrigued by the Cambridge tour of the Caribbean. Many important questions were raised about the future of the Monarchy and Prince William handled them with maturity and wisdom.
