This week, The Earthshot Report premieres on BBC One, iPlayer, and PBS. This documentary is a showcase of inspiring environmental solutions from across the globe, presented by Prince William and Hannah Waddingham. To celebrate, we invited them to play a game of darts at Alexandra Palace, where the very first Earthshot Prize Awards took place in 2021.

Watch The Earthshot Report on the BBC and iPlayer from Sunday December 15 at 5pm GMT and on PBS from Wednesday December 18 at 8/7c

The Prince of Wales enjoyed the "best day of my life" when he was encouraged to spray pond water at the press – all in the name of science. William aimed a syringe full of the cloudy water at journalists when he joined school children collecting DNA samples for NatureMetrics, a finalist in his environmental Earthshot Prize awards project

Blue Peter Earthshot competition winners meet HRH Prince William

The Blue Peter Earthshot Competition gave you the amazing opportunity to come up with an original idea to help the planet and address at least one of these five important areas: Fix our Climate, Protect and Restore Nature, Clean our Air, Revive our Oceans and Build a Waste-Free World.

The Earthshot Prize is a global environmental prize and platform, founded by His Royal Highness, The Prince of Wales in 2020, designed to discover, accelerate, and scale ground-breaking solutions to repair and regenerate the planet.

The five winners each attended a VIP filming experience with Blue Peter and met Prince William at Windsor Castle. They then had the opportunity to ask questions about the environment before being presented their certificates.  The winners also received the rare Orange competition winners badge!

The winners also had the exciting opportunity to present their ideas at Speaker's House in the House of Commons in front of members of a cross-party Environmental Committee.

And what pray, does David Beckham know about Earthshot and/or environmental matters in general that he can bring to the table?

 He certainly knows an awful lot about schmoozing, to be sure, particularly of the rich and famous and more importantly of royals, because, of course, that all-important (to him) knighthood, is still up in the air, try as he might! After all others have got it, why not me, schmooze, schmooze.

Such a shame about the tax avoidance scheme coming to light some years ago that put paid to any honours at the time, eh David, lol!

Never mind, lay doggo and smile and nod your head a lot when royalty is around and maybe it will happen one day, if you wait long enough. In the meantime, keep on with the barrel loads of buttering up of royals. After all, you're becoming quite an expert in THAT, lol.

The Earthshot Prize has today announced its CEO, Hannah Jones, will step down from her role this summer after four years. She will continue to provide strategic advice on innovation and sustainability to Kensington Palace.

Jason Knauf, former CEO of The Royal Foundation, has been appointed by the Board of Trustees as CEO.

Prince William, Founder and President of The Earthshot Prize, said:

"As the first CEO, Hannah has built The Prize into a world class organisation with an incredible team delivering an annual Prize, powering a platform for speeding solutions to scale, and catalysing a movement to encourage young people, spark imaginations and infuse urgent optimism across the world. As we look ahead to the future of The Prize and the urgent work needed to scale more inspiring solutions to the world's greatest challenges, I look forward to working with Jason to chart the course for the next five years of The Earthshot Prize and beyond."
