Around one in ten believe that it is easy to adjust to life after leaving the UK armed forces. The majority think that there is no difference in access to NHS care or family services ? the ease/ difficulty of access is the same as civilians would experience.
● This perspective is upheld by healthcare workers ? 75% of NHS workers believe that ex-service personnel have the same levels of access to NHS care as civilians. with NHS workers slightly more positive than private sector healthcare workers.
● However, ex-service personnel are associated with health issues ? over two- thirds think that mental health problems affect ex-service personnel more than civilians.
● Participants in the qualitative research believed that ex-service personnel experience a sudden ?jolt? back into civilian life rather than a transition

The MOD UK can't puff up their work with Veterans, they are #5 worldwide, #1 Europe - I can go on and on.  Puffing up equates to pure talk no action, which is not the MOD UK. They talk and have actions. In 2012 the then POW opened a new rehab center, which is deemed state of the art. That is what everyone calls action. As a matter of fact, there are very few countries who have this type of state of the art facility, 10 to be exact, 1 in the MOD UK.

The NHS has been declared the world's best healthcare system

What is the NHS reputation?
As a global 'brand', the NHS is held in high esteem across the world, which is why so many doctors and nurses are keen to relocate to the UK and work for the NHS. Last summer, the NHS celebrated its 70th anniversary - a celebration which highlighted the impact that it has had upon national and international healthcare.

Curryong

The NHS certainly is held in high esteem in the world, including by doctors and nurses who go to GB to work there. That is until they actually get to work there and find out how the Brit Govt has been under-resourcing it?s hospitals, clinics and other facilities for decades.

How the NHS nearly cracking at the seams at times (especially over the last five years in the Covid crisis). There have been dozens of reports of complaints by staff in Britain?s leading hospitals about the conditions that they have to work under. And by doctors outside the hospital who work under the NHS system as well.

Wow, a new rehab centre, opened eleven years ago, supposedly state of the art. And can all vets (especially those in other parts of the UK, access this wonder of the NHS? I doubt somehow, it and that still doesn?t say anything about rehab facilities elsewhere.

And what?s the old saw about lies, damned lies and statistics. Thousands of reports, reams of paper, miles of stating this and that about themselves online,  zzzzz zzzzzzzh and so on, putting everyone except themselves to sleep. Reports from MOD and NHS chiefs about themselves doesn?t equate to work on the coalface.

Care to wait for 18 months to two years for treatment in NHS facilities. Because that?s what the NHS authorities have been faced with over the last few years.

NHS waiting lists unlikely to fall significantly in 2023 | Institute for Fiscal Studies

The NHS has made meaningful progress in its efforts to reduce the number of patients waiting a very long time for treatment. Waits of two years or more have been more or less eliminated. The aim of next eliminating waits of 18 months or more by April remains within reach. The overall strategy of setting incremental, achievable goals on the way to full recovery has much to commend it.

Less progress has been made against the headline ambition to increase levels of elective activity to around 30% above pre-pandemic levels by 2024?25. So far, the NHS has struggled to increase the number of people it is treating from the waiting list each month, amidst ongoing pressures from COVID-19. Indeed, in the 10 months following the publication of the elective recovery plan, the NHS treated 5% fewer patients from the waiting list than over the same period in 2019. There were some encouraging signs in the most recent month of data, but activity is clearly lagging behind the planned trajectory.

Delivering on this ambition would require double-digit (10.3%) annual growth in treatment volumes over the next two years: when combined with the planned increase in the number and fraction of patients treated outside of hospitals, this would take overall activity levels to around 30% above pre-pandemic levels. This compares with average annual growth of 2.9% in the five years prior to the pandemic.

Given the continued pressures on the health service, we judge it highly unlikely that this target will be achieved within the desired time frame.

Based on this judgement, and assumptions around the numbers of patients joining the waiting list for treatment, our central expectation is for the waiting list to more or less flatline over 2023. This assumes that the NHS will manage to significantly increase treatment volumes, but by less than originally planned. In this case, we would expect waiting lists to start falling meaningfully only from mid 2024.

And this from The Guardian

Government aims to boost NHS with thousands more doctors and nurses | NHS | The Guardian

Where they are going to get this highly trained workforce from, God only knows. If they intend to train thousands of specialist doctors that will take decades. And other First World countries are clinging on to their health professionals like from death.

And note the phrase at the beginning of the Guardian article that includes ?huge gaps? in 2023.

Earlier this year. Strikes by junior doctors continue?btw. And Britain is now in Sept, with a long winter ahead.

NHS figures show health service under considerable strain

?While the worst of the severe winter pressures are now over, today?s NHS data continues to show health services under significant strain, with more strikes this week set to cause further disruption.

?Emergency services are particularly struggling, with nearly 40,000 people waiting over 12 hours in A&E for a hospital bed in March once there has been a decision to admit. New data suggests this is just the tip of the iceberg, with 1 in 10 of all patients attending major A&E departments in February waiting over 12 hours from arrival to being admitted, discharged or transferred.

?The waiting list for routine operations was stuck at 7.2 million in February; behind this number is patients left in pain, people often unable to work and, in some cases, lives tragically lost. Although there has been a welcome reduction in the number of people experiencing very long waits before they start treatment, there were still over 29,000 people waiting more than 18 months for the procedures they need.?

One, same Curry! Just because things might?ve been in place, doesn?t mean there was a support system, it also doesn?t mean families can be newtwork of support. They can understand that people have trouble but not grasp how to fully support.

And yes, I?ll leave a link when I?m on an actual laptop but people aren?t allowed to just call in and speak, they have to be verified, speak to a producer / worker on the show and then allowed on air.

So, no bots are calling in and being paid to say something. Along with their names, they also gave out information on when, where their tours were and the branches of government they worked / work in.

And every single one talk about how the help wasn?t there and even now, when even if it?s getting better, they?re still far behind other countries who address this.

Great to see young Poppy and the other siblings. WellChild is such a great cause. The parents and helpful siblings and the children themselves deserve all the praise in the world. Good on them all!

Photo gallery from today's Opening Ceremonies in Dusseldorf. Apparently there were about 6-7 anti-war protestors booing the DoS at the event. Reportedly  they believe that  the IG to be promoting enlistment in the German Army.  Mandatory military service for German men ended decades ago after reunification.

Hmm, from the videos I've seen...I didn't see anyone protesting BUT that being said, I don't mind people protesting War. Maybe not this event? As it's about people recovering from War but Idk what Germany has been doing but hey, can't be upset about anti war.

Happily, the opening ceremony had 20,000 people in attendance. The growth every year! I love it more and more.

It's a very small group of protestors who seem to believe that this event promotes enlistment in the German army... They're protesting war of course which is how many of the athletes received their life altering injuries.

@changemhysoul - There were a couple of signs referring to "Bomber Harry" who is of course a combat veteran. At least a few of the protestors appear to be  of an age where they would been alive during the years of German post WWII reconstruction and the presence of either Soviet or Allied (U.S., UK, France) troops in either East or West Germany during the Cold War.

Prince Harry faces angry protesters holding 'bomber' signs at Invictus Games - Mirror Online

QuotePrince Harry today faced an angry demonstration against him and the Invictus Games - including from one protester repeatedly shouting "Bomber Harry".

Reinhold Boehmer, 68, was among protesters standing behind a barrier shouting and waving just yards away from the Prince when he stepped out of a car at Dusseldorf City Hall at 2.50pm. He was also holding a homemade sign reading "Bomber Harry".

Speaking about Harry, who caused outrage when he revealed he had personally killed 25 Taliban fighters, he said: ?Harry is a representative of the British establishment that has waged war without any legal reason.

"They are responsible for them being injured and now are celebrating this. I think the Invictus Games should be cancelled.? He added: ?The sign is a pun on bomber Harris, the guy who bombed Nazi Germany."
