Princess Margriet attends the annual commemoration at the Canadian War Cemetery in Bergen op Zoom for all Canadian soldiers who died during the Second World War and are buried in the Netherlands. The Princess also lays a wreath.

On October 27, 1944, Canadian forces liberated Bergen op Zoom and the Brabantse Wal during Operation Suitcase. This operation was part of the Battle of the Scheldt. The Battle of the Scheldt resulted in thousands of dead, wounded and missing, including more than 6,000 Canadians.
