Quote from: Kristeh-H on August 16, 2024, 02:58:07 AMThanks, Blue Clover.  I agree with you too--except maybe for the standing by him part.  For the good of the monarchy, I'm not sure they can afford to publicly support him.  He is dangerously violent.  It's more than the knife even.   These women are saying that he put his hands around their throat and tried to strangle them.  In my view, that is attempted murder.

I'm not a PR expert, but I think the family needs to publicly distance themselves, much as the British Royal Family had to do with Andrew.  They may still see Marius in private (I feel sure Mette-Marit would), but I think they need to keep quiet and he shouldn't be seen at public family events with them.

You have a good point. They may have to go private with their support, meaning they will never be photographed with him again; there will be no more balcony appearances with the King and Queen, etc., with Marius. He is seriously violent and dangerous and is lucky the women involved were not more seriously harmed or worse. Marius is the Andrew of Norway. However, as Curryong pointed out, there are differences, such as titles and royal roles. Marius is related/in relationships with members of the royal family. I think they have known of these problems since his childhood. Marius mentioned this in his statement, and the royals may have kept him out of the royal mix for this reason.

Quote from: Kristeh-H on August 16, 2024, 03:04:31 AMOh, and in Marius' "apology" letter, notice that he calls the woman his girlfriend, his love, etc.  The woman herself says that she is not his girlfriend.  Even in his "apology", Marius is showing possessiveness and disrespect for the woman ending the relationship.  Another classic sign of an abuser.

I put apology in quotes, because I don't believe Marius is sincerely remorseful at all.  He's sorry for being caught, that's all.

Yes! You are right. His statement must have been scary for the women involved. He comes across as possessive and disrespectful to the injured party. His tendencies to abuse women are concerning, and the details here fit with a cycle of abuse. He appears to be a serial abuser. He needs treatment.

The leading Norwegian politicians are sympathetic and understanding about the crisis.

Prime minister Jonas Gahr Støre:
- I will not comment on the details of what we have now followed over the last few days, but it is a family with some very clear challenges, which also applies to a good number of other families in Norway. This family, unlike them, has to endure full floodlights on it. I can imagine that is a big burden. This is a moment where we stop and get to know that this is a family. And in families there are also challenges and problems, also in this family, says Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre to NTB.
The party leaders find the situation sad and praise the work the royal family is doing.

I absolutely agree with your statement that he is sorry for being caught.....that is a sign of someone trying to get out of this situation with no consequences at all.

I've been keeping an eye on the Marius situation since he went sloping off to Italy, with his parents' blessing seemingly. Frankly, as he just seems to be lapping up the nightlife with friends, it's to be hoped that he turns and becomes Oslo-bound in the next few days, for his own sake and importantly for his victims and the legal case.

Otherwise this sojourn will appear to be more and more a sojourn to get him out of Norway and optics-wise more of a reward that anything else. And who's paying for meals, clubs, accommodation? Not Marius himself, that's for sure  It's to be hoped he doesn't try to bolt....

From all that I have read it seems the entire NRF is tone deaf to what Marcus did and the consequences of his actions, Marius is acting like a spoiled child thinking because of who is mom is married to now, he can just do as he pleases with their blessing.  All words and actions have consequences, something his mother and dad need to learn. Beating up your girlfriend should be a very serious issue that deserves jail time and a long stunt in a secured rehab where he can get the help he needs.

I spent a lifetime dealing with children and families what have had drug problems, alcohol issues and violence, if the NRF doesn't face facts and deal with this soon then they in the not to distant future will hear sounds of those that want to do away with the monarchy as that has happened before to royal families that don't hear the people. Maybe I should write that book my sister wanted yet I am to damn old and tired to do so.....

She will extend her training for three more months.

"Here at Skjold, I enjoy myself very much. It's a varied everyday life and we do a lot of exciting things".

"I have been challenged many times since I came in. I think the most important thing I have learned is that you can do much more than you think, and you are much stronger together. Whether it's in a team or in a troop or company, you get a lot more done when you're not alone".

NRK: Princess Ingrid Alexandra announces further plans in the Armed Forces

Ingrid Alexandra extending her military training for another three months or so is no doubt a good idea. The PTB, including her family, have no doubt thought this an excellent idea as a way of separating the eventual heir (who has never put a foot wrong)from a certain trial of her half brother due to occur in that time.

The Norwegian Royal Court announces that Crown Princess Mette-Marit has re-started her medical treatment for her pulmonary fibrosis.

The announcement is made because of previous experience having shown that her medical treatment can cause side effects that may make it neccessary for the Crown Princess to be away from public life for longer periods of time
