That's wonderful!  BTW, isn't Louis a tall little boy!  He is only just turning two and he already looks like a big boy. We knew the children would be tall.

The Cambridges have sent some of their staff to work for the British Government during the COVID-19 pandemic.

QuoteITV's Chris Ship noted: "Some of William and Kate's staff have actually gone to work for the Government at the moment.

"They are helping with the coronavirus crisis because there is a lot of work going on in Government.

"So they are actually a few members of staff down at the moment."

The Duke and Duchess took their turn as guest bingo callers for one of the games, before speaking to some of the residents and their care workers.

On Wednesday, Their Royal Highnesses joined residents from the Shire Hall Care Home in Cardiff via video call as they played bingo in the home?s cinema. Shire Hall provides residential, nursing and dementia care and is part of Hallmark Care Homes, a family-run care provider with 19 care homes across England and Wales.

Before the game, The Duke and Duchess heard from members of the care team about the impact of Covid-19 and the challenges that they have faced as a result of the pandemic. Their Royal Highnesses also heard how the home has adapted to the current circumstances, including greater use of technology to allow residents to stay in touch with their families and friends.

 I have to say that this might be a first for the many royal video chats that I have seen in the past couple of months. :hehe:

Very cute, and they own a classic manual bingo 'cage'. I wonder when they zoom between their families, do they play?

Boris Johnson has promoted Simon Case, a senior UK civil servant, to a new role at the heart of Downing Street to oversee the governments handling of the coronavirus crisis.

Mr Case, 41, currently serves as private secretary to Prince William and will take up the newly created role of permanent secretary at Number 10. His arrival follows tensions in Whitehall and Downing Street over the role of Mark Sedwill, cabinet secretary and head of the civil service.

Number 10 said that Mr Case's role was temporary and that he was only on secondment from the Royal Household.

That is perfect, he has to date, the most impressive CV from all households ever IMO.  Someone who was Mi5, Brexit top collaborator 2nd to the top Brexit boss, and now temporary Boss of Covid19   :notworthy:

It's a win win, William loans him for a undisclosed time, and at the same time has the best possible advise. I hope he turns out like the Cambridge's Maria Poppins, the Female Kate bodyguard, many many years with them.

PrincessOfPeace

^^^

He also served as Principal Private Secretary to Prime Ministers Cameron and May. As you say the most impressive CV from all the royal households

3 other members of the Cambridges staff are on secondment to government as well to help with the COVID19 response.  Speaks to the quality of the Cambridge household.

The Times reports Prime Minister Boris Johnson personally phoned Prince William last week to ask his permission for Dr Simon Case to be loaned out to No 10.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge marked Volunteers? Week this June, speaking to volunteers in different parts of the country to thank them for the support that they provide to their communities.

On Wednesday, Their Royal Highnesses called volunteers from two organisations that rely on their volunteer networks to help run and support their services: Conscious Youth which is based in Kirklees, West Yorkshire, and Machynlleth Community Corona Response in Powys, Wales.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge thank volunteers | The Royal Family

QuoteThe Duke has been volunteering for Shout85258, the UK?s first 24/7 crisis text line which was launched in May 2019 by The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and The Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

The Duke is one of more than 2000 Crisis Volunteers who are trained to support anyone, anytime, whatever their crisis may be.  Last month, The Duke and Duchess marked the service?s first anniversary by speaking to five Shout volunteers via video call.

Glad that William was able to train and become one of the many Crisis Volunteers since the launch of the program one year ago.

As we approach the end of #VolunteersWeek The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are pleased to share a new photo taken by The Duchess as they played their own part in the national volunteering effort.

In April, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their family visited the Sandringham Estate where they packed up and delivered food parcels to isolated pensioners in the local area #VolunteersWeek

I like it after months of volunteering, the disclosure from William is because of the expansion and width of receiving calls of the Shout line starting this past week. Previously the online service was limited, so if he had disclosed before, the site may have crashed. The official explanation.

Meanwhile Kate was volunteering with the NHS Volunteer Responders, Department: Check and Chat. Camilla and Sophie are also volunteer responders, Camilla is also in the Check and Chat the elderly like Kate, whilst Sophie was in the Packing Department (her children are much older and can self study/connect with the internet classroom with no parent supervision).

^^^ Yes, from Hello magazine:

The Duchess of Cambridge has become an NHS Volunteer responder, along with the Duchess of Cornwall, Countess of Wessex and Duchess of Gloucester. The royal women have been making "check in and chat" calls to people who are self-isolating. Kate's calls have included one to Donna Williams, 42, a mother of two who is currently shielding her daughter Alessandra who has a rare form of Type 1 Diabetes.

Princess Cassandra

I'm happy they are shining a light on volunteerism.  Volunteers don't usually do what they do for the recognition, but it's nice for others to see the example.

According to Camilla Tominey, who works for The Telegraph, but did a special one off article for The Spectator, William may very likely loose Simon Case to No. 10 rather than a temporary secondment.

She describes Simon Case as almost perfect for any job to 'get done' and will very much delight the Prime Minister in a short time.

PrincessOfPeace

Simon Case is under contract to the Royal Household.  Hes worked in government for years and we dont know if hed want to return but if he does, itll have to be with Williams blessing. The Prime Minister just cant take him away.

She did very well in today's assembly.  She has learned so much with all those visits in the past few years to scientists, experts and professionals.

The aim of the talk was to promote mental wellbeing among children.

Thank you @PrincessOfPeace. I have read that the garden center had to make half its workforce redundant during the shut down. Hopefully they'll be able to be hired back.
