That's not a new civil case. It's the old one for defamation that was dismissed in March this year by the judge with prejudice, meaning it can't be brought up again in any court. In April Samantha appealed against that judgement, to be heard in the Appeal Court in Florida. It's waiting on the appeal at the moment but is most unlikely to succeed.

'Samantha has filed her new, and potentially final, appeal just two days after Meghan celebrated her 43rd birthday.

I thought,from latter years of public pronouncements from the Markle family, that Thomas snr has been a poor old man longing to see his grandchildren (but not the grandchildren he's ghosted from his son and older daughter, just the royal ones) as he has been about to die momentarily many times in the past six years. According to Samantha and himself.

IMO his talk about moving from Mexico to SE Asia has been prompted by worries expressed on SM by many elderly US citizens with fears about what Pres Trump is supposedly going to do to pensions, social welfare and the health system in the next four years, rather than anything emanating from Montecito. Thomas snr is a Dem and loathes Trump (and has said so just as many times as Meghan has) and any attacks on US pensions are likely to affect expats living over the border in Mexico (where crime is rife anyway.)

 He doesn't appear to be bothered apparently by the fact that he won't be seeing a lot of his loving daughter Samantha or so loyal son Tom jnr, lol, when he is living in another continent. We'll have to wait and see whether he is just ranting about things or actually moves in the next few months however. I happen to be extremely sceptical of anything this family says about any issue whatsoever!
