Pakistan! So glad they are leaving all their children at home.  Their security team will have enough stress without adding concern about the children's safety!

It's not a tour anymore, but an Official Visit (usually 3 days, 2 nights).

I'm quite surprised, agreeing that security will be a nightmare.  Reading comments from political journalists and RR's, apparently the visit will rely heavily on government and diplomatic (soft) mission engagements, and a few cultural and friend stops  i.e. where Princess Diana went.

Sounds like the government has a lot of faith and trust in them.

they will be guided by Govt as to what to say and do etc. They are senior royals

It will be historical, because their PM Imran Khan, not only was a very good friend of Princess Diana, but most importantly his political party was founded by him PTI, which for the first time in Pakistani history has their first ever PM, but largest and dominating their National Assembly.  Their stance and beliefs are more centered and westernized...so they have a lot of changing or balancing to do with his 11 point agenda, issues with India, the Taliban, etc. hence the security issues.

So, Archie will probably be close to the same age that William and George were when they travelled to Australia. Hopefully he won't be teething, because that is a great age. They can sit and be friendly but not mobile enough to make their parents crazy!

Archie will be a bit younger than William and George as both were sitting up unaided and crawling by then, however he will be the youngest British royal to go on this type of official tour. :)

Looking forward to seeing the details of the couple's upcoming visit when they're released.

Duke and Duchess Of Cambridge will tours pakistan on October waiting for date from Kensington Palace confirmation

wannable

I'm not sure an agenda/schedule will be provided, perhaps only some general information of the visit.

It has been confirmed that anti terror police from the UK/Pakistan will be 'working' before/during the tour.  So IMO factor that into the mix of having a full fledge press meeting with KP detailing.

TLLK

Dates of the official visit are Oct. 14-18, 2019.

wannable

I pretty muched guessed the tour date when announced.  The half term of their children 24th Oct to 1st Nov.

I thought it would be longer and involve more countries, but I guess that was wishful thinking on my part. Of course while their family is so young they will keep visits short. Unless, of course, the children are with them.

TLLK

Also it's up to the Foreign Office to determine where and when the BRF does its official visits/tours.  Many nations will be sending representatives overseas in Oct. to Emperor Nahurito's enthronement ceremony but Charles will be the official representative for the BRF.

Plus the UK is set to leave the EU in late October so it would seem that the government has other things to contend with in the next month.

wannable

I've seen some tweets from Pakistan government officials related to the visit, so I believe it will be full on formal and with soft diplomacy, 90%  They will probably throw in a few community tied with their favorite charity type stuff they usually do in the UK, but the Pakistan counterpart 10%.

5 days in one country is not usual (tour in 1 country lasts 2.5 max 3 days), they will be formally received, so they will be travelling 'daylight' for departure/landing receptions.

TLLK

It's been over a decade since a BRF member has visited Pakistan so I'm hoping that the itinerary will be announced soon. The PoW and DssoC were the last to visit in 2006.
Kate Middleton & Prince William?s 2019 Pakistan Trip Dates and Details

QuoteThe itinerary for the trip has not yet been confirmed, with Kensington Palace saying further details will be shared in due course. The British Foreign and Commonwealth Office currently advises against travel to certain parts of the country. The Palace also shared that around 1.5 million people of Pakistani heritage live in the U.K., and around 100,000 British people are in Pakistan at any one time.

According to the U.K.?s Foreign and Commonwealth Office, approximately 270,000 British nationals visit Pakistan every year. The two countries also have strong trade links, with U.K.-Pakistan bilateral trade in 2017 valued at ?2.9 billion, or roughly $3.7 billion.

If the statement about being the Cambridges going to be  'formally received' and daylight arrival and departure receptions in Pakistan  is a dig at the Sussexes tour of Southern Africa, wannabie, the Sussexes were 'formally received' on their long tour of Austrslasia in every country.

However, every Royal on tour is guided by the Foreign and Commonweslth Office, and the host country, and if, for security reasons, or expense etc, the advice is not to have formal receptions at arrival and departure then they do not. They would hardly go against local advice!

Nevertheless, the Sussexes were invited to SA as honoured guests, like the Cambridges they are touring at the request of the FO, 'soft diplomacy' is also involved as it was in Australasia, and therefore there is absolutely no difference. Or is the SA tour and the Australasian tour last year considered unimportant because it doesn't/didn't involve the Cambridges?

They are going to be there for such a short time, that I suspect the itinerary will be absolutely packed. Looking forward to hearing about it.

Hoping to see some of the characteristics of the country as they tour - I suspect it is dramatic in some ways.

After reading this article I can't help but think this will be more than a state and cultural visit - William and Kate will be wanting to spend some time with those in whom his mother confided, as well as visit the hospital she helped to build.
