The Lawyer for Juliane Snekkestad has formally requested that the police question CP Mette Marit in connection with the case against Marius.

The lawyer Petter Grødum says:

"The situation regarding evidence in this case is such that we find a matter of course that we now get her explanation (statement). I actually believe it would be unnatural (most unusual) if she does not answer questions from the police. A explanation from the Crown Princess will in my opinion shed new light in regards to the case against her son."

That will depend I guess on how much MM really knows about her elder son's relationship with his ex girlfriends and secondly how much she is prepared to tell the police or his lawyers and others about these situations which have in some cases recurred over years. I've just got a feeling that, like most parents, she and Haakon are pretty appalled but in an effort to keep their (step) son from incarceration, might well spread a more benign light on things than is warranted.

Fundamentally, these are serious charges that Marius faces and, in his late twenties it's about time he put his big boy pants on and faced up to the consequences of his actions. It wasn't MM who assaulted these women, and imo she already has unnecessarily inserted herself into proceedings by phoning his latest victim while the police were investigating. She is obviously naturally worried but she should not be unburdening herself to lawyers or anyone else apart from answering police questions.

This shows that speculation in the Danish Press that I posted here yesterday on the other Norwegian thread was correct, then. The NRF has certainly had a tempestuous year and very recent stories that MM rushed over to Marius's living quarters to 'clear and tidy up' before the police arrived to take a look around have also been unhelpful. Motherhood should only go so far in legal situations, and if it is proved in the future that anything important like phones or letters were removed from Marius's house it will not reflect at all well on the Crown Princess and by extension the rest of the core royals.

According to Norwegian Press Marius is back in Oslo. So Haakon accompanied him, it seems, to a Boys Weekend out, cancelling a royal engagement (and probably much else) just before more engagements to do so. Is Haakon as tone deaf as his wife and stepson seem to be? Did Marius get to the facility in or near London and buck at the last moment? Who knows, but this family's manoeuvrings get weirder by the day!

Since reading all the news about this situation in other sites also, I have come to the conclusion that neither Haakon nor MM have any idea on what to do in regards to Marius, he is a grown man for God's sake, he needs to be kicked to the curb and suffer his actions, choices and decisions.  I in my family we all dealt with a druggie, and there is nothing none of us could do to help her, it was a living nightmare for years/decades and we turned to our church, our doctors, our friends who went through the same problems, and the law and in the end it was all up to her to survive and she didn't.   H/MM are not fit to be rulers of any country if they can't put their duties ahead of Marius, hand holding him will only make it worse for them and the country and heaven forbid if the monarchy will survive this or not.  Of all this, MM should know better as she went through tough times before her marriage to Haakon. Marius will destroy this family if they don't get tough and strong and listen to the professionals out there..

The Marius Hoiby affair is NOT 'a private matter business' in Norway. It has dominated Press headlines and impacted the popularity of the NRF in approval ratings in polling for the past several months.

Nightowl, I am so sorry you experienced this, it can be so hard for the family.

Quote from: PrincessOfPeace on November 19, 2024, 02:04:33 PMDaily Mail: Marius Borg Høiby, son of Norwegian Crown Princess Mette-Marit, is arrested on suspicion of rape

This is another incident. Marius is out of control. He was surrounded by so much privilege, but sadly, he seems to be more troubled than anyone has ever realized. Truly sad state of affairs.

Here we go again! The trial, when it does come, is unlikely to be before the Spring. Marius needs some serious re-training on how to treat women with respect and dignity before he rejoins society after the custodial sentence he will undoubtedly serve. By that time he may well be past thirty, and it's to be hoped that no more trouble of any sort will be caused by him for the rest of his life.

Instead of threatening media with libel actions over past events these two should pay their bills and then go off to California, there to slide under the nearest rock. Marius can join them after his prison sentence is ended as well.

As well, Shaman Durek ought to shove his supposed spiritual advice to all and sundry where the sun don't shine and hope that the Norwegian Press don't conduct a serious investigation in the future into his life over the past twenty odd years. There's plenty still to come out into the open about this individual.

Marius Borg Høiby has left rehab in London just after a week. The newspaper also reports that he must have contacted several friends back home in Norway, and has broken the restraining order against at least one of the three women.

However his defence lawyer has denied this report from a certain newspaper, and stated that Marius went to rehab (presumably in England) and is still there, though he is finding the course (conducted almost certainly in English) 'demanding'.

Well, it's to be hoped that the defence attorney is correct and the news outlet wrong. Otherwise, especially if Marius is indeed in contact with at least one of the three women he is accused of assaulting as well as his so delightful criminal mates, the reputation of the NRF will sink further. The Norwegians are waiting to see what happens with this case and so far recent polls, except for Mette Marit, aren't too disastrous, though a rising sector is stating that they  monarchy is weaker now than in the past.

Lovely photo of the NRF. Wonder where Pr Sverre Magnus was? Queen Sonja's looks haven't changed in the last decade it seems to me, and the King looks very relaxed.

Incidentally, Haakon was seen in London the other day. Checking up on errant stepson in his facility, or just Xmas shopping? This family have had one heck of a year so hopefully they will now be able to relax for a couple of days.

Merry Christmas everyone and have a great time tomorrow our time!

Quote from: PrincessOfPeace on December 28, 2024, 05:01:27 PMDaily Mail: Norwegian royal family breaks silence on rape scandal and admit getting 'professional help' after 'challenging year'

The Crown Prince couple have said the least they can under the circumstances. Don't know whether they will still be questioned by the police. The elderly King Harald was diplomatic and empathetic as usual. However there is no getting away from the fact that whole Marius scandal, plus the antics of Prss M-L and her shaman, has seriously dented the popularity of the Norwegian monarchy with its people to the extent that CP Haakon, who could in theory, be monarch at any moment given his father's health, is seriously unpopular along with his wife. Tough love should have been used with Marius years ago. As it is, there's the delightful prospect of his criminal trial in 2025. I think the swipe of CPss Mette Marit at media pressure was unnecessary. I'm the last to defend media but did M-M expect the Norwegian and world's Press to ignore Hoiby's behaviour and how it has impacted the crown? Ridiculous.
