I was reading the Oscar nominees, and so I searched for the Bafta Awards, which will be held Sunday 10 February.  Also checked the historical times Prince William as Bafta President (and Catherine) have attended; only when there is some kind of Special (Humanitarian, Lifelong) Award. 

So this year it seems there will not be any Special/Extraordinary award. Although with not so much fanfare as the Oscars, the category nominations are already up, very similar films/actors/actresses are submitted.

Anyway, I always love the evening gala opportunities with the royal women, so here's hoping.

Today, on behalf of Her Majesty The Queen, The Duke of Cambridge held an Investiture ceremony at Buckingham Palace.

Among today's recipients was Eileen Chester-James, honoured with an MBE for supporting victims of domestic violence @StaffsWomensAid.

The Duke of Cambridge oversees first Investiture ceremony of 2019 at Buckingham Palace ? Royal Central

A little background information on Investiture Ceremonies which are typically conducted by QEII, the PoW and the DoCam.

The Queen bestows honours to members of the public, in recognition of outstanding achievements, personal bravery, and service to the UK and the British Overseas Territories twice a year: in the New Year Honours and in her Birthday Honours in June.

The Cabinet Office releases the list, and if a person is listed in the Honours, they are then invited to one of 25 Investiture ceremonies held over the course of the year to receive their decoration.

In 2019, there will be 1,148 people receiving Honours from The Queen, which includes:

    544 women, which accounts for 48% of the overall total
    70% of recipients are people who have ?undertaken outstanding work in their communities either in a voluntary or paid capacity.?
    12% of recipients are from minority backgrounds
    4% of recipients are those living with disabilities
    358 people will receive the British Empire Medal, awarded for ?meritorious civil or military service.?
    422 people will receive the Member of the Order of the British Empire
    238 people will receive the Officer of the Order of the British Empire

Investiture ceremonies are usually held at Buckingham Palace, but also take place at Windsor Castle, the Palace of Holyroodhouse, or occasionally overseas during a State Visit.

The Queen, Prince Charles, and Prince William usually host Investiture ceremonies depending on their availability.

The sword used at Investiture ceremonies originally belonged to George VI, The Queen?s father, and is used for knighting ceremonies.

The Duchess of Cambridge threw open the doors of Buckingham Palace on Wednesday evening to host a private dinner. According to the Court Circular, Kate held the event at the Queen's official London home in her role as patron of the Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, although no further details were given.

Kate, 37, may have invited guests involved with her charities and patronages. Prince William's wife is connected to no fewer than 16 organisations that reflect her interests, whether it's sports or the arts. Kate's key focus is also on mental health and providing early support to young children.

Love seeing that William is out there meeting world leaders and getting to know who they are and what they are about.  He needs to do this to help support HM and his father.   It shows that he is being groomed for the future and that is a very good thing, so glad William in after Charles.
