They are distantly related as descendants of the mother-in law and father-in-law of Europe: the UK's 🇬🇧 Queen Victoria  and Denmark's Denmark 🇩🇰 King Christian IX.

The Wessexes also opened their home to the Romanian Royal Couple so they could discuss the DoE Award. I know that Charles and Margareta being of a similar age are longtime friends, but it's nice to see that there's a relationship with the Wesseses too.

Apologies for going off topic, but this is on my mind. After the news of Russia's invasion into Ukraine can't help but wonder how the non-reigning but now residing royal families in Romania, Serbia, and Bulgaria are feeling today. As former Soviet Eastern Bloc nations,  they're were heavily impacted by the presence of the Soviet (Russian) army after WWII.  Bulgaria's King Simeon was a child during the occupation.

Yes, these royal families, and others had a hellish time in WW2 due to Nazi invasions. Those in the East and Central Europe were then faced with ?liberating? Russian troops, adding the death knell to reigns of the monarchs of the time.

Incidentally, and I?ve thought this for weeks, Putin?s attitude towards Ukraine and other border states has distinct similarities Hitler?s during the Sudetenland crisis (and then invasion) shortly before WW2. (There are great differences though and imo, though this is a very nasty situation I don?t believe WWIII is approaching because of it.)

For me, nothing is more important than family.
Here I find peace, happiness, here I am charged with positive energy, and when we are together, no obstacle seems impossible to pass.
Looking into the eyes of my wife and our little girl, I realize how lucky I am! We can't wait for the second baby to be born, so that we can feel truly fulfilled!
The family is truly a holy thing!

It's terrifying to see the results of the bombardment in cities across Ukraine and heartening to see how ferociously its citizens are determined to preserve their independence. No wonder the nations on Ukraine's western border-Poland, Moldova, Romania are so very concerned now with the number of refugees that are entering.

More on the royal couple's visit with the UN High Commissioner on Refugees.
