I'm glad to see the results of this poll, actually. It speaks well of CPss Amelia's demeanour coming across well to the general public, even if I do still love Queen Maxi's enthusiasm and quirkiness. It's good to see a rise, even a small one, as a sign that the royal family is being forgiven for the holiday misstep.

Netherlands Palace has confirmed no Royal will attend Pope Francis's funeral due to the Koningsdag celebrations that same day.

The Netherlands will be represented by the country's Prime Minister & Foreign Minister at the Pope's Funeral.

One European Monarchy possibly not sending a royal to the Pope's funeral is the Netherlands.

The funeral falls on Koningsdag (King's Day), which is the Netherland's National Day and the Monarch's official birthday celebration.

Koningsdag usually takes place on Willem-Alexanders's actual birthday, April 27th, but since that is a Sunday this year, was moved to the day before.

Interestingly enough, Princess Ariane of the Netherlands will actually be in Italy on Saturday, missing the Koningsdag (King's Day) events. The Palace said she has to study for her final exams at United World College of the Adriatic in Italy.

The Netherlands did not send a royal to the last Vatican State Funeral for Pope John Paul in 2005.
