Full Coverage of the Princess Royal's Visit to North Devon

The people of Clovelly gave a warm welcome to The Princess Royal as she started off her tour of North Devon in the historic fishing village yesterday, (May 6).  School children, dignitaries and prestigious local actor, Joss Ackland, greeted The Princess Royal as she entered Clovelly Visitors Centre.

To begin the royal visit, the first duty was to officially open the Jubilee Victoria Fountain which has been beautifully restored, and commemorates the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II.

The Victoria Fountain was designed by Lady Feodora Gleichen, a cousin of Queen Victoria and the first female member of The Royal Academy.

High Sherriff, John Rous introduced The Princess Royal to the crowd and she addressed the excited on-lookers.
