Kensington Palace confirms that the PoW does not plan to have an Investiture.
https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-wales-politics-63635177
QuoteKensington Palace said the meeting aimed to "deepen his understand of the issues and opportunities of greatest importance to the Welsh people".
BBC Wales was told that the prince understands he is at the start of a long period of association with Wales' political system, and was keen to express his desire to deepen the trust and respect of people of Wales over time.
He planned to tell them that there are no formal plans for an investiture ceremony, aware of the political controversy that surrounded the event in 1969.
Kensington Palace said an investiture is "not on the table".
Excellent plan. There is no need and politically it would be a massive blunder to go ahead with one. Keep it low key, show respect to the Welsh.

It's supposed to be a happy, interesting and positive event. Shame on anyone bringing up that negative stuff. I think we all know that if you compare the past with our current attitudes regarding race and gender (among others!), we are far more sensitive now - you'd be able to call most people somewhat racist by today's standards. Harry and Meghan are not well informed about it, anyway.

An interesting observation made elsewhere about CC entries, by a poster who totals up royal engagements each month, and is abreast of such things. She has observed that
Up until the 5th December this year the Prince and Princess of Wales were listed under Kensington Palace for CC listings. On the 6th December they were listed under St James's Palace. Those who do not live at KP like the King and Queen come under BP, Windsor, and other royal residences private and State.
Until the 6th December the Wales and Gloucesters came under the KP banner in the CC. However now the Wales, Wessexes, the Princess Royal and the Kents are all listed as under St James (Palace, of course.) Is the KP ?office? going to disappear in the near future and be relocated at St James? Which is of course known in diplomatic circles formally as ?The Court of St James.?

The Prince of Wales, Duke of Cornwall this morning chaired a Meeting of The Prince?s Council at 10 Buckingham Gate, London SW1.
Westminster, from the outside is all I saw, was very pretty.
Yes it most certainly is and one of my favorite places when I visited London was Windsor, at the time I could not go in and don't remember way yet the castle itself outside was amazing to me. Think about how all the men who took their lives to build this castle stone by stone, just seeing it I was thrilled and I still have pictures to this day just me touching the stone work to feel the castle. I love Windsor and so hope someday to go back there and just sit and take it all in again.

It is an absolutely worthwhile visit! The tour of the castle and the state rooms is magical as you see rooms and places that have been featured in documentaries and photographs. Go at a time when less visitors will be there. I went in March during the week, and the crowds were pretty light. Not to miss: the new lantern room, which was where the fire started and which was the private chapel. So moving to look at the new, exquisite overhead structure and the new stained glass window showing the fire etc. And while there you are as close to the private quarters as you could get. Of course St. George's Hall and the Waterloo Chamber also sport that unbelievable oak structure. There are formal rooms, but it is so obvious that Windsor is a home. I looked up from the courtyard to see a balcony with chairs where the royal couple could sit and take in the sun. There were daffodils covering the hill surrounding the round tower - so pretty.
Thank you so much for that Princess Cassandra, I so want to go back and visit Windsor, it was so thrilling for me to be there at that time. I have friends that live outside of London at the time and was visiting them......here is what I learned about the people, they live with all these old ancient buildings without seeing them like I do.....I remember my friend and I talking about some huge estate that we were visiting and that was loaded with history and how I was amazed at the palace, he was surprised at my reaction, so he started to understand my views as this was history to me, stuff I have read in books and to actually see it made me thrilled. I have always wanted to be a history teacher or archeologist yet life got in the way.

Very nice to see William and Catherine out and doing the job required of them. I love that coat Catherine is wearing.....a nice Scottish plaid looks so good on her. As ever, their sense of community and selflessness is humbling, but it is terrible that such devastation seems to be occurring more often.
On the call were: Daniel Cleave and Curtis Arthur, owners of a small business in Shepparton, Victoria; Grace Langlands, a member of the NSW State Emergency Service; Maureen Carter, CEO of the Nindilingarri Health Service in the Kimberly Region of Western Australia; and Brad Flowers, owner of the Overland Corner Hotel, Upper Murray, South Australia. Collectively, these individuals represent small business owners, frontline responders and local community and Indigenous peoples leaders.
Of course we are in summer here in Australia now so except for certain rivers that are still overflowing their banks things are on the mend. It?s reconstruction, refurbishment of people?s homes and businesses, repairs to infrastructure etc that is on the agenda now, so that those who?ve been flood affected in the past two years can get back to some sort of normality. As I said, flooding is still occurring in spots but most of it has gone (and left an awful mess behind.)

I believe that it is possible that the couple have already made a private monetary donation to Windsor Foodshare. As for food donations, it's possible that was made as well prior to their visit or that they were waiting to see what the organization was lacking in the way of non-perishables. The couple also stated that they'd return again so there's an opportunity to provide food donations when the WC or Sandringham estate produce is harvested.
The Prince of Wales visits St Mary's Church, Snettisham:
The Prince of Wales visited Snettisham Memorial Hall, Snettisham on Sunday morning to pay his respects and remember the devastating events of January 31, 1953, when the worst storm for centuries hit the Norfolk coast.
Prince William visited the Memorial Hall after the service at St Mary's Church, where he enjoyed coffee and cake and chatted to everyone.

I knew that 1953 was significant because the Netherlands also faced devastating flooding as well.but a day later. Shocking to see the photos and view the devastation.
Glad that he made the visit to commemorate this event.
Yes, I remember the Netherlands floods and also a bit of Germany being affected as well. That weather reminds me of what the east coast of Australia has gone through over the last couple of years.
It hit several counties in East Anglia and the East of England as well. I was in Lincolnshire as a small child, living in a seaside resort in that county and had only just started school. I can remember the floods and the evacuations quite well and perhaps Charles does too.

Would not catch me doing that even if I was younger, Catherine has guts to do that, and we all know that she had plenty of guidance and help in learning how to do that yet are other things I would do, riding a bike for one. She is definitely a sporty girl who is a bit fearless in life......marrying into a royal family and staying on the job...yes that is a bit fearless to me as she has had to put up with all the hell and drama of the media and other royals.

Kate Middleton and Prince William pay their respects at Aberfan memorial in Wales - live updates | HELLO! (https://www.hellomagazine.com/royalty/491354/kate-middleton-prince-william-visit-aberfan-memorial-garden-wales/)
Quotehe Prince and Princess of Wales visited the Aberfan Memorial Garden on Friday to pay their respects to those who tragically lost their lives during the Aberfan disaster.
The coal-tip landslide on 21 October 1966 led to the loss of 144 lives, including 116 children.
William and Kate were led through the Aberfan Memorial Garden to pay their respects to those who died when a colliery spoil tip collapsed and sent tonnes of ash slurry onto the village below.
I can actually remember the Aberfan disaster quite well. Prince Charles begged to go and help dig at the slide there but the way BP behaved in those days, of course he wasn?t allowed to. The Queen kept away from the scene of the tragedy for quite some time, and it was later said that it was one of the greatest regrets of her public life that she didn?t go there sooner. The survivors must be getting on a bit in years now.
@Curryong-Thank you for sharing your recollection. I can only imagine the horror and shock that the nation felt during that time. I had not known that Charles wished to go and help but was not permitted. Now I am aware though that the late Earl Snowdon (Anthony Armstrong-Jones) did go to Aberfan to offer assistance.
Cute clip of Catherine letting a toddler play with her handbag today.

QuoteA mum whose baby took a fancy to the Princess of Wales' handbag as she greeted crowds on a visit to Aberfan said it was a moment she "won't forget".
Cheeky Daniel Williams, who is one years old, was with his mum Lucy along with hundreds of others from the town who went to see the royal couple on Friday morning.
As the princess met with crowds while visiting the memorial garden to pay respects to those who lost their lives in the disaster, she began speaking to Lucy when Daniel snatched her small black handbag from her.

This is absolutely priceless. A sweet gesture - and the mum?s face when she realised the Princess was going to let the baby play with her handbag. Brilliant.

A great afternoon spent hearing about the incredible work that @QPR has done to support the Grenfell community over the past six years. The disaster has had a lasting impact on those affected but football has provided a much needed lifeline to many.
QPR?s support for the community extends far beyond the pitch, with their outreach work including mentoring and personal development for young people in the local area.
^Hard to believe that was six years ago. Boy time flies. But I?m glad to see that organizations haven?t forgotten and remain committed to help. It?s great to see the fruits of their labor. And as a fan of the sport, it?s heartening to see the football community?s outreach.

QuoteHis 'career path' has mostly been mapped out since his birth - but the Prince of Wales still has fond memories of the job he chose.
Chatting at an agricultural show today with a doctor he worked with at East Anglia Air Ambulance, he admitted he still hankered after his time there. Told by Dr Neil Berry that staff missed him, William replied: 'I miss you too.'
The prince, 41, was an air ambulance pilot for two years from 2015 to 2017, flying helicopter emergency medical service missions for the East Anglian Air Ambulance.
Dr Berry, 46, who has worked for the service for more than 10 years and flies every week, estimated he had been on between 10 and 50 flights with William.
Recognising Dr Berry at the Royal Norfolk Show, William joked 'oh Lord!', adding that there were 'some familiar faces'. 'I must say you're better in your flight suit,' said Dr Berry, to which the prince replied: 'Thanks a lot... a bit more useful I think probably Neil, that's why.

It?s all blah blah blah. The sort of sentiments HOS and others express at moments of crisis. You think people in Israel or on the West Bank are poring over anything said by British royals at this time? Because I sure as heck don?t. They are worried about much more basic things, like whether they and their loved ones will be alive tomorrow.
And, much as I deplore Hamas?s actions (these attacks are extremely wicked and deplorably wrong whichever religion is followed) I do wonder where all this sympathy was for the Palestinian people in their plight stuck on the West Bank and in Jordan for years and years. (Apart of course from a few innocuous remarks uttered by Charles and William when speaking on the ME in speeches which are (at least in William?s case) written by people within the FO.

Last night I met with theologians. Israel is the clock of for example the Bible. Isaac the father of Israel and his younger half brother Ishmael father to Palestine would end up if what Netanyahu said last night to be true this time they will disappear Gaza from the planet. In the Bible it is akin to the beginning of Armageddon.
^ Then Ishmael is the father to Muhammad....Quran. And so on. A topic that can be discussed in a Theology thread.
I'm back to the POW's cc.

I am very happy for her. Very well deserved. I knew once her name was mentioned officially in Parliament a few months ago, big things to come for all her children related organization. This is because her organization is the one with real tangible results (like W with Earthshot Prize), everyone in the ''field'' wants to be part of it.
She has dedicated 10 years to the cause. I would like to point out that Catherine stated 'team work' and the best ideas to shine a light will be coming from scientists and people who are professional in the area. Just here, there is no pretense of being an 'expert'. Humble she is.
Her speech was very smart and moving, no word salad here.

I saw some pictures of the William welcoming them and boy was he glad to see them, I thought for a minute he was going to jump up and down he was so delighted to see Victoria and Daniel. It would really be nice to see more of the British royals having interactions with other Eurlopean royals.
They got a standing ovation at the Royal Variety Show too. It's good to see how supportive the crowd was.
Yes it certainly was nice to see. I don't think that was expected by the Sussex's at all, just the opposite in fact. This book showed so much hate and meanness towards the royal family and particularly to Charles and Catherine as the main course. Even Anne got smacked down by Omid, she of all people who suffers no fools could and maybe will make mince meat of him. I loved the pictures of how William cared for his wife and was such a loving husband.
