QuoteOn this day, December 12th, in 1992, a royal wedding took place in Crathie Kirk near the royal estate of Balmoral in Scotland. The happy couple tying the knot was Princess Anne, daughter of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, and Timoty Laurence, a British naval officer.

This was the second marriage of the Princess, and as the Church of England doesn't normally allow divorced people to remarry while their former spouses are still alive, the couple chose Scotland as a wedding destination, as the Church of Scotland under certain circumstances allows remarriage of divorcees.

Princess Anne met her husband, as he served as a equerry to the Queen, Anne's mother, after she had divorced her first husband following a three-year separation. From her first marriage to Mark Phillips, Princess Anne had two children: Zara and Peter Phillips. She and Timothy never had children together.
