I am thrilled that she has a new literacy patronage and that it also involves seniors. She's a great champion for both IMO.

'Night Mail' is a well written poem. I like the line: All Scotland waits for her.

QuoteIt was great to be in Bath today to see the work of St John?s Foundation, a local charity dating back to the 12th century.

The Duchess of Cornwall, Patron of @stjohns1174, visited Roundhill Primary School to see the work the charity does to help children in need of extra support.

📚 In the library, The Duchess joined pupils who were creating a book about their school.

🌳 Outside, HRH helped to plant a tree as part of the @queensgreencanopy project, a UK-wide tree planting initiative to mark Her Majesty?s Platinum Jubilee.

In 2020, St John?s Foundation launched a plan to help disadvantaged children across the local area. It aims to equip children with the skills and level of education needed to thrive in their transition into secondary school.

Thank you to staff and pupils of Roundhill Primary School in Bath for The Duchess?s wonderful welcome today!

Camilla had been patron of the foundation since 2009.

I like the fact that Kate's books are her own and 'used', one looks a bit battered rather than using for the picture of her recommendations new copies.

This makes it much more authentic. So kudos to Kate (and Camilla)

Duchess of Cornwall visits Millbrook Primary School in Newport | Daily Mail Online    :yesss:

QuoteThe Duchess of Cornwall was snapped high fiving pupils as she visited a primary school in Wales today.

Her appointment at Millbrook Primary School in Newport marked the second day of a three-day official visit to Wales, alongside her husband the Prince of Wales, 73 for Wales Week 2022.

Camilla, 74, went to the school to officially open its new school library, in her capacity as Patron of National Literacy Trust, as part of the Trust's nationwide Primary School Library Alliance campaign, which seeks to address the chronic lack of investment in UK primary school libraries.

During her visit, the royal was snapped beaming as she engaged with the pupils, even high-fiving some of the children as she left the school.

As much as I appreciate my reader tablet and the vast number of title that can be stored on it, there is something special about having an actual book to read especially for the youngest readers IMO. Sadly school libraries in the U.S. are underfunded much like in the UK and typically rely upon volunteers to handle the tasks associated with managing  a library.

Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall urges Brits to join crusade and get millions of kids reading - Mirror Online

QuoteAs part of her 75th birthday celebrations Camilla unveiled her ?Birthday Books? scheme, aimed at giving 75 primary schools in disadvantaged areas across the UK, a wellbeing-themed mini library.

The campaign became an immediate success, reaching 25,000 pupils in the first few weeks giving access to special ?kinderboxes?, with titles covering the full primary school age range from 4-11 years, selected with the input of children and young people.

Camilla added: ?The Duchess?s Birthday Books kinderboxes are full of titles that promise endless adventure, comfort, excitement and joy to young readers.?

Yes, that is wonderful news as books are one of the most important parts of growing up and they take you to places you dream about. Books can turn a childhood into a world of new beginnings and can take us to the moon and back while digging in the sands of an ancient world....my books are more priceless than all the money in the world...... :yesss:
