In the ballot by JD Williams that asked the British public to vote for their favourite gowns over the last 100 years of royal weddings, the Duchess of Cambridge acquired the top spot with 36 percent of the votes for her stunning Alexander McQueen dress from her 2011 wedding to Prince William.

The dress was Victorian-inspired and had an awe-inspiring nine-foot train, which clearly captured the hearts of voters.

Princess Diana?s 1981 gown got 18 percent of votes, proving the David and Elizabeth Emmanuel dress was still iconic and came second in the poll.  Meanwhile, the Queen?s elegant dress she wore doing her 1947 wedding to Prince Philip got 10 percent of the votes.

The dress was famed not only for its high neckline, tailored bodice and short train, but also due to materials for the dress having been bought using ration coupons.

LOL if the writer of the article considers a nine foot train to be "awe-inspiring" then they must have found nothing in their thesaurus to describe the late Princess of Wales' 25 foot train! :hehe:

I loved Lady Sarah's dress Margaret's like her DIL's was not inspiring for any bride to emulate Lady Sarah's was IMO
