That's very good of the Trumps and it will actually be doing some good, rather than sending some hand carved whatnot or silver salver.

I don't think anyone could accuse the Queen of possessing an excess of imagination where family titles are concerned. Sussex was there, on the lists for William and Harry upon marriage since before 2011, it hasn't been used for a while, unlike Clarence it  hasn't got sad connotations, so Voila!
I agree it is the best choice because she wasn't going to resurrect Windsor and as you pointed out @Curryong, Clarence has some sad/creepy connotations.

I won't have a chance to watch the wedding until later, but a few quick notes.
-Tiara-So unexpected but if this is the tiara that she's going to use regularly I believe that it is a wonderful choice! Substantial, elegant, not too tall  and would work well with a variety of hairstyles.

Veil- Love the lace details which I've read are trimmed with lace versions of Commonwealth floral emblems.

Dress-Waiting on more photos before I make a final decision: An unexpected designer, bateau neckline reminds me of Maxima's gown but with a lighter weight fabric, not surprised that it's fairly unadorned, good train length.

Jewelry-From what I've seen diamond studs and a beautiful bracelet. (I expect that Charles will provide his daugther-in-law with some lovely jewelry much like he did with Kate.)

Ladies outfits: Love the Queen in lime/purple, Kate in pale yellow, Camilla in pale pink, like Eugenie's dress, do not care for Beatrice's, Doria's pale green is very lovely today.

Bridal party-Smart idea to have the children's mothers as the "baby wranglers!" The mini versions of the men's uniforms for the pages is very smart, the bridesmaids are adorable in floral wreaths and white dresses.

Men's outfits-Very nice of QEII to permit the men to wear their uniforms' frock coat versions to the wedding.

They could have picked something "new" that had Royal connextions...but I agree, te queen's not very imaginative... I think she will nearly always go with the tried and trusted....

Curryong

Yes, a lovely and unexpected tiara that's been away in the vaults too long. I liked the gown, very simple and classic, understated, very Meghan in fact. I noticed the bracelet, very nice, I'm sure. Thank God the dress wasn't lace, I'm so over lace. I thought the veil was lovely.

I thought the attendants were very cute, not sure I'd have dressed the little boys in so much black though. The Mulroney twins were delighted to be there, did a good job with the veil, some odd comical expressions from them!

Harry was so full of love for Meghan, it was palpable. He looked as if he was going to tear up at one point. Charles smiled at Meghan. I must say the couple have been very kind to Meghan and her mum. Doria was teary, looked lovely in pale green.

Philip walked! Absolutely marvellous old man. The Queen looked lovely as usual. Camilla's hat was like a gigantic pink sunflower, but rather nice. Kate looked nice in pale yellow.

I think Bea was so overcome by the reaction to her chapeau in 2011 that she went minimalist this time!  Andrew seemed to be irritated. Sarah looked quite neat and respectable in navy.

I'm sorry to say that IMO Michael Curry's very long very energetic sermon had me wondering when he was going to finish. Half the congregation looked annoyed, half bored.

There were tens of thousands out at Windsor on the streets and on the Long Walk. A lot of cheering, the horse were quite frisky at one point.
And so we have a new Duke and Duchess. We see them again at a garden party in a few days.

Trudie

I loved the ceremony Meghan's gown was classy and elegant She looked amazing especially with her understated makeup. Harry looked so handsome in his uniform with his emotions of tears and laughter was a beautiful sight. The wedding was despite the camera's truly a family affair though I wonder why Meghan and Harry didn't bow or curtsy to HM.

sara8150

wannable

Congratulations to the couple, they looked very happy.

The left side looked truly celebrity filled, whilst the right a family affair.

Fleetstreet is jumping up and down, Meghan's side will bring lots of days to come articles.

Yes, I thought Harry's uniform looked rather plain with the commander(?) tassels, the ribbons instead of the medals, just seemed less sparkling and spangly than other uniforms (but maybe thats why he chose it, have the feeling it was deliberate) but thats the one time that ppl love seeing all the pomp and flummery.

I liked the kids were kind of clumped together, not as fussy and likely easier to keep them behaved, as they all very very good, given the length and formality feels much different to kids a that age.

Was nice to see PP walking, might not like the guy, but hes got to stick around for a bit more, and Harrys close to him.

Mr Curry....ugh wayyy too long, I dont like sermons at a regular church service, at a wedding, forget it. Also too informal for the queens church imo, theres some talk about the faces the royals had made, but in this case im on their side. Same with the gospel style singing, esp at the end. [admin]Comment Edited[/admin]

Was disappointed in Bea's minimal hat, if ever there was a wedding she could cut loose it was this one, seems she got the in reverse, poor girl. How about Eugenie!! talk about channeling her aunt Diana who was channeling Jackie O I thought she looked great, and im sure she was checking the place out for this fall. Andrew always looks annoyed nowadays, maybe hes got piles LOL Fergie looked happy to be back, I half expected the church officials at the entrance greeting ppl to say "are you sure youre at the right place m'lady?" Clooney's wife looked very stylish, much better than at the Met earlier.

Well off to read more articles

Why so quiet here?

The bad, ugly, and good.

The fire and brimstone Black preacher was rude, inappropriate, wrong, and worst. This was not his church. He did not need to bring it home, nah, ohoh. His audience were bemused, tired, lost, and THAT is not their history.

I liked when started talking about love, then he on babbling, too long, Fire, electronics....nothing much about the bride and groom. Slavery, Antebellum South...huh?
He made himself the star.  White Amer on sir commentators won?t say anything because they will be labeled racist. Blacks eat that stuff up...all that he preached.

The ugly, him.
The good, everything else as really perfect.

MM looked, well, regal. Classic dress.
H, happy.

M, happy. Her mother, an ordinary woman, watching her daughter be married is one thing for any mother mother. Watching her marry a man she loves, but also a county, an institution is another thing.

BTW, I am Black American Catholic.

It's been a lovely, lovely day, Fan, quite emotionally exhausting. That preacher has certainly been a talking point. I wonder whether the Archbishop regretted inviting him. By the time he got onto 'fire' after we'd had what seemed like an hour of what love means, I think most people were over it! In the Chapel the BRF were trying to stop themselves from smirking, Zara looked as if she needed to use the facilities, some of the congregation were staring at the roof and we at home finished off a pizza!

Doria did look emotional at times, and that was very natural. What mother wouldn't! Charles was very nice to her, guided her outside when they looked at the carriage departing. The couple looked very much in love, and the crowds were amazing! A wonderful day!

Oh, Arch in England invited him. Ugh.

Again, again, I wish, hope the best for this girl.  I like, admire her. She has substance, inner strength, poise,  inteillgrnce, smarts, capharisma, looks, maturity, everything plus a man who loves her.

I was wrong wrong wrong, about maybe they should have had something smaller, more private, etc.

It was beautiful minus the Preacher.

Lovely.
Lovely. Carriage. Greeting the subjects.

Wonderful.

Duch_Luver_4ever

Agreed @FanDianaFancy  re: the preacher, I forgot he mentioned political stuff, even Dr. King can be viewed that way as well. Considering the UK was the first western nation to abolish slavery, and nothing to do with the southern US, it wasnt really the place to harangue ppl about it. I think he forgot which side of the Atlantic he was on. Yes, it would have been TV suicide for any of them to be critical of him.

I think they wanted to have their cake and eat it to, have a royal wedding but make it non traditional as well, likely disappointing people who wanted more of one than the other on both sides.

I agree the smaller more private would have been better if they want to go "off script" so much from usual royal weddings.

Yes after he said "We need to get ya'll married." I thought that would be the end. :notamused:

A bit sad to think that Doria was the only member of Meghan's family present today. :( I had hoped that one of the Markle or Ragland members who had remained quiet would be in attendance.

Floral decor thoughts-IMO they resembled hedgerows and were a beautiful addition to the setting, though I did find the one at the West Door to be a bit out of control. Meghan's bouquet was sweet and minimalist. Nice touch that Harry selected some of the blooms.

@Trudie-I couldn't tell if the couple curtsyed/bowed either. The BBC camera angle was from the top and it was hard to see. I was expecting it to happen after they stepped down.

Was a bit surprised by Doria being behind Jessica Mulroney, but when I saw Jessica lean out to help with Meghan's long veil, then it made sense that she was seated closest to the bride. Her sons managed the veil beautifully.

Thank you @SophieChloe or @Jenee or @Windsor to whomever changed the forum heading to The Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
