[AbsolutelyWilliam] Prince Charles to visit Russia

LONDON (Reuters) - Prince Charles will visit Russia in July to join celebrations of St Petersburg's 300th anniversary, a royal spokeswoman says.

The prince, who last visited Russia in 1994, will carry out a series of official duties during the three-day trip but there were no details yet on whether he would meet Russian President Vladimir Putin or visit other centres.

"His Royal Highness will visit St Petersburg on the occasion of the city's tercentenary. The visit will also highlight the 450th anniversary of UK-Russian relations," the spokeswoman said on Thursday.

London and Moscow first established relations in 1553, when a trading expedition looking for a short-cut to the Far East landed on Russia's northern coast.

St Petersburg, Russia's second city, officially marked its 300th birthday on Tuesday but lavish celebrations are expected to continue for several months.

Charles' trip takes place from July 13th to 16th
