Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco are currently on a low-key holiday to Ireland. It is not Prince Albert's first visit to Ireland, as he visited the country in 1961 as a three-year-old with his parents Prince Rainier III and Princess Grace for a week long holiday. Back then, crowds gathered around the Gresham Hotel in Dublin to see the glamorous couple. Tragically, several people were crushed in the crowds, and it was reported that one person had even had a heart attack. The second visit to Ireland took place in 2011, and now he is visiting for a third time with his wife.
They enjoyed a morning of sightseeing before joining their friends at The Monasterboice Inn for lunch. The Inn manager, Roseanna Donegan, was quite surprised and delighted to receive the royal couple.
"We had no idea that they were coming. We got a phone call in advance to ask us to keep a seat for 12 celebrity guests, as well as a table for six for their entourage. We prepared the tables as we would for any other visitor, but we weren't too excited because we really had no idea who or what to expect."

I think the people at the International Handball Federation have mistaken Prince Albert for a Norwegian royal because they don't have a lot of knowledge about the different European royal families. They should probably read more about them so they can be better informed.

Btw, per the thread here about what language royals use to speak to each other, I read yesterday that Charlene converses with them in English (as I suspect she also does to Albert) and their father uses French. So they are already bilingual.

Is Charlene much in Monaco these days? I?ve not kept up with the Monegasque royals as I once did but have got the impression over the last few years that Charlene comes to Monaco for certain events throughout the year but the rest of the time is in South Africa or over the border in France at their family holiday home with the children.

A law suit over another love child of Albert?s rearing its ugly head again. It was said that similar circumstances prompted Charlene to try to bolt before their wedding. If Charlene is facing more medical procedures it is best that she stays in SA. However, if this stay continues for many months she can hardly be surprised if rumours start flying once more.
I never really was sure about the wedding, but it seems like she's ill and has to stay in SA till she has surgery. I presume that Albert and the children may go to join her now that it is holiday time.
I think that she has never been keen on the Princessly duties, and maybe she would rather be in SA. but I think that the family dont like the press at all and they do often keep things under wraps when it wold be better to make a simple statement...

Gareth seems to enjoy being Charlene?s substitute at various functions in Monaco in her absence. He enters everything with gusto.
A German tabloid magazine is stating that divorce is on the cards for Charlene and Albert. Blind Freddy could have predicted that development. As soon as a married couple in the public eye are separated for any length of time rumours begin, perpetuated by the vultures of the Press.

Gareth has attended such events for years, even when his sister is there. He is the general secretary for her foundation.
One might doubt Charlene's dedication to her role. But she has proven to be a loving mom. If it was trouble with her husband she wouldn't fake an illness that keeps her away from the twins for months at a time.

Quoterince Albert II of Monaco travelled to France last week to officially reopen a museum showcasing the history of Ferrette ? a small village in the Alsace region.
Ferrette has historic ties with the Principality of Monaco. Since 1777, the Sovereign Prince has also held the title of Count of Ferrette after Prince Honor? IV of Monaco married Louise d?Aumont, the niece of the Count of Ferrette, Mazarin.
His Serene Highness visited the village to officially reopen the Re-Naissance Museum, which had been closed since 1963.
The museum is housed in a 16th-century building, which needed extensive renovation; the Tr?sors de Ferrette Foundation was created to help raise the ?500,000 necessary for the project.
During the inauguration, the President of the Foundation, Jean-Jacques Kielwasser, thanked the Principality of Monaco?s generous donation to the cause, and it is believed that the Prince contributed personally to the fundraising campaign as well.
The newly-refurbished museum will host both permanent and temporary exhibitions about the village of Ferrette?s history and heritage.

I think it?s been clear that Charlene has been suffering from an emotional malaise as well as physical illness for some time. She might go to Switzerland where there are a number of discreet clinics, or France. Wishing Charlene and her family the best.
I agree. The sinus story was told for most of the year, but I knew it was more than that. Sinuses never kept a mother away from her very young children for so long. I am sorry she is suffering so much, and I hope she receives the help and treatment she needs.
Yes ear problems do keep mothers from flying to another continent. Destroying her ear drums helps no one. Certainly not her mental health.
But yes it does seem she is in need of some psychological help 'rest'. Thankfully her family can afford the best treatment for her.
Hopefully wherever she is recovering remains private and she can receive the peace and return healthy to her children.
It was sad seeing the twins signs. But at least they have their dad and plenty of family around to be there.

Well, it is the Fail reporting this but as she shared it on her personal IG account I presume it is Charlene?s creation. Of course no-one knows what sort of physical and/or emotional state Charlene is in at the moment, so others may be manipulating things, especially if she has suffered a nervous breakdown. There have been all sorts of rumours and unfounded gossip online about her ailments for months. I guess time will tell.
But it is obvious that she's had a breakdown. I think the ill health was genuine, but I think it coincided with her being mentally very stressed out as well and I wonder if perhaps she has not been able to face a return to life in Monaco..
Ear infection ran to throat, she can't swallow. This is the last I've read. Reading about swallow issues, the person can die if not treated.

This man, M Palmero, complains mostly about Charlene grossly overspending (a form of one finger salute perhaps to her husband) and Pr Albert sending his own money in the form of annual gifts and allowances to ex mistresses and illegitimate children. In the meantime this accountant was fired for alleged financial mismanagement after being targeted by an anti corruption watchdog! Must be running short of cash himself!

I'm not very fond of jumpsuits, glittery or otherwise, for all sorts of reasons, practicality among them, but Charlene almost always pulls the stops out at the Rose Ball and this is no exception.

Quite unusual, isn't it for quite a few members of a ruling family to turn up to the opening of a restaurant and bar in their territory? And they all look so cheerful and happy, lol!
I can't think of any other equivalent royal family who would do so. Luxembourg, Liechtenstein, no. I know Monaco is tiny and touristy and tax-haven driven and there aren't many events for their royals to turn up to, but really!
