William has had 2 meetings with officials since becoming Duke of Cornwall. Formal meetings are about monthly, but as Duke he's involved in way or another almost on a daily basis.

About the Duchy of Cornwall and the Duke of Cornwall's role.

Quotehe Duchy of Cornwall is a private estate established by Edward III in 1337 to provide independence to his son and heir, Prince Edward. A charter ruled that each future Duke of Cornwall would be the eldest surviving son of the Monarch and heir to the throne. The current Duke is HRH The Prince of Wales. He is the 25th Duke in the estate's history. The revenue from his estate is used to fund the public, private and charitable activities of The Duke and his immediate family.

QuoteThe Duchy?s estate extends beyond the geographical boundaries of Cornwall ? covering 52,449 hectares of land across 20 counties, mostly in the South West of England. It comprises arable and livestock farms, residential and commercial properties, as well as forests, rivers, quarries, and coastline. Under the guidance of the current Duke of Cornwall, it is the Duchy's responsibility to manage this estate in a way that is sustainable, financially viable and of meaningful value to the local community.
QuoteThe Duchy employs more than 150 people, who work across seven offices in London, Bath, Dartmoor, Hereford, Liskeard, Poundbury and The Isles of Scilly, as well as in the Duchy's own businesses ? the Duchy Nursery and the Duchy Holiday Cottages.

During the last few years the King was involving William in Duchy business on a regular basis so he wouldn't get dropped into it unprepared. But he did state that he wanted to take on the role whole-heartedly and not just continue on where his father would have left off. I got the feeling it was all being planned out, and no doubt we shall gradually see what he meant by that. Though he has a short fuse at times William seems to have fairly good judgement and a desire to learn.

The Duchy of Cornwall publishes its Integrated Annual Report for 2023
Thursday, June 29, 2023

The Duchy of Cornwall has today published its Integrated Annual Report which summarises activity on the Duchy of Cornwall estate for the year ended 31st March 2023.

It is a time of transition at the Duchy of Cornwall. After more than five decades under the passionate, focused guidance of the 24th Duke of Cornwall, the duty of care for this land, its communities and its natural environment is passing to the next generation. In 2022, the new Prince of Wales proudly assumed responsibility for the Duchy, its essential work for positive impact and the safeguarding of its unique legacy.

Over the past nine months, The Prince of Wales has stepped into his father?s shoes as the 25th Duke of Cornwall. Looking forward, the Duke is keen to continue to evolve and deliver the Duchy?s vision, as well as tackling climate change and responding to social challenges such as mental health and homelessness. The Duchy?s vision ? Sustainable Stewardship ? remains unchanged. More than ever, the estate views its role as protectors of a unique and precious heritage, which contains incredible biodiverse ecosystems and natural resources, as well as the communities who live and work across the estate.

Turning to financial results, this year?s distributable surplus for the Duchy of Cornwall estate was ?24m, increased from ?23m last year.

Alastair Martin, Secretary and Keeper of the Records, shares this year?s financial results in more detail: ?Following an exceptional but understandable fall in 2020/21 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the income generated for The Duke of Cornwall in 2021/22 returned to more normal levels, at ?23million. Last year I said that I expected little increase on this figure for the current year, the result of both downward pressure on agricultural rents and increasing costs ? both staff salaries and significant repair cost inflation. Had it not been for some additional one-off income this year, that would have been the case. In the event, we have generated a record surplus of ?24million. This will not continue and the surplus for 2023/24 will not be at this level. Income will return to ongoing levels, there will be significant cost increases and a full repairs programme to finance.?

This is the Duchy?s seventh Integrated Annual Report that seeks to comply with the Framework created by the International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC). This framework helps the Duchy explain how it creates value in the short, medium and long term, for a range of stakeholders. It includes details of how the decisions made in the course of meeting commercial responsibilities also create positive, long-term value for local communities, the economy and the natural environment.

Prince William receives ?6m salary but could get more than ?20m next year | The Independent

QuotePrince William received a private income from the Duchy of Cornwall of nearly ?6 million this year, but was criticised for not publishing an annual report in his first year as heir to the throne.

William inherited the Duchy landed estate after the death of his grandmother the late Queen and the accession of his father the King, and is now entitled to its surplus profits every year.

Republic, which campaigns for an elected head of state, called on William to report his income and expenditure in full, and for his Duchy income to be given to local communities across the country instead.

The Duchy generated record profits of ?24.048 million in 2022-23 ? up ?1.02 million from ?23.024 million the year before, a jump of about 4.5%, the estate?s own accounts showed.

Usually William would be entitled to the full ?24 million as his private income, but his finances have been complicated after he became heir to the throne half way through the financial year.

It seems The Independent has an axe to grind with Prince Wlliam.

The above article was published one day ago with the following introduction:

Prince William received a private income from the Duchy of Cornwall of nearly GBP6 million this year, but was criticised for not publishing an annual report in his first year as heir to the throne.

Minutes after it went digital, it takes hours to box in their digital media website, the Duchy of Cornwall had already published the annual, they do so every year. Also what is the axe to grind? Surely they know that the SG, DOL and DOC have always published their yearly, why think that Prince William 1st year as POW and DOC would not, curtail it? Baffled.

Duchy of Cornwall to double Dartmoor rainforest Wistman?s Wood

QuoteThe Prince of Wales aims to double the size of one of Britain?s few remaining rainforests by the year 2040.
The Duchy of Cornwall, which owns Wistman?s Wood on Dartmoor, has announced plans in partnership with Natural England to naturally regenerate the three-hectare ancient wood near Two Bridges.
The wood is thought to be the remnants of a forest that covered much of the national park before Mesolithic hunter-gatherers cleared the area in about 5000BC.
Famed for the twisted and gnarled branches of its stunted oak trees and its moss-covered trunks, it is home to rare Atlantic mosses and lichens including Bryoria fremontii, a horsehair lichen found at only two sites in Britain.

QuoteOver the next 20 years, the Duchy will be regenerating this ancient woodland by doubling its size, providing a home for some rare species and encouraging nature to thrive

Anything that increases woodland, trees, the Earth?s lungs, is a really good project. I just wish taking care of the Amazon was as high on the priorities of authorities there.

Very good to join Prince William today to walk at Wistman's Wood National Nature Reserve. We discussed expansion of this unique temperate rainforest fragment - a vital step for its long term resilience. Very impressed by his passion for Nature recovery.
