QuoteThe Queen at 91 – A look back at her remarkable life

The life of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has been one full of spectacular events, some that have changed the course of history. Who, at the time, would have thought that the fair-haired baby princess born in Mayfair would grow up to become the United Kingdom's longest reigning monarch. Today the Queen celebrates 90 glorious years of life surrounded by her devoted husband, her loving children, her adoring grandchildren, and also her loyal subjects and admirers from all over the world. Let us rewind and reflect back over the magnificent life of Her Majesty The Queen.

Birth

In the early morning hours of 21 April in 1926, a little girl was born to Albert and Elizabeth, The Duke and Duchess of York at 17 Burton Street. Prince Albert was the second son of King Gorge V. The Princess was christened Elizabeth Alexandra Mary on 29 May in the Private Chapel of Buckingham Palace by the Archbishop of York. While carrying the first name of her mother, she honoured her grandmother, Queen Mary, and her great-grandmother, Queen Alexandria, with her middle names.

Quote91 facts about The Queen

As The Queen turns 91-years-old, Royal Central takes a look at some interesting, funny and sometimes bizarre facts about the monarch.

As a teenager, the then Princess Elizabeth, and her sister Princess Margaret, would act out and perform a number of pantomimes during the Second World War.
The wax museum Madame Tussauds have displayed 23 different life size models of Her Majesty to date.
The Queen speaks fluent French, and often uses the language when she hosts audiences and attends state visits. She does not require an interpreter, as was seen when she visited France in 2014 for the D-Day 70th anniversary.

Curryong

It's a pity the Queen's horse didn't win, but Elizabeth spent her birthday in surroundings she loves anyway. She probably enjoyed it better than any concert or other cultural event. She looks in excellent health and spirits anyway and went home afterwards to a drink and slice of chocolate cake with Philip and other family members!
