The headline belongs to the Sunday Times and the BRF works on precedence. The fact Harry is still employed in the Army is irrelevant. Using that logic he would have precedence over everyone in the family. Harry will always come behind the Cambridges and that comes with being the younger brother.
Prince Andrew served in a war zone and that doesn't give him any special privileges over the Prince of Wales.
Agreed. The newspaper is just following BRF precedence. It is not a slight to Prince Harry that he is not listed first or equally with his brother. Good to see these members of the BRF present at the memorial event as HM and the PoW will be commemorating the date in the UK>

Excellent posts missbliss and Rebound. The memories of those who were killed in action during the conflict should be the priority.

Just a quick note about royal precedence as it doesn't just apply to the BRF. If a large group of the Belgian royals were to attend then they would be listed in their order of precedence as wellie: 1st. TM The King and Queen of the Belgians, 2nd Princess Astrid/Prince Lorenz, 3rd Prince Laurent/Princess Claire. :) (Astrid and Laurent are Phillipe's siblings)

I think it is excellent that the current and future monarchs and their spouses will be there in person to greet the few remaining veterans of this most important event.  It is highly unlikely that any of the veterans will be around for the 80th - and probably not HM, who after all is the last world leader to have served in WWII.

TLLK

^^^I agree. Apart from HM and the DoE the other heads of state were either children when the war occurred or were born at a later date.

Nobody knows who will be around or not around then. Life is not that predictable.

^^true enough, but most vets are 90 and above.  There won't be many who make it to 100 (and above.)

Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me

I have a surely to be dashed hope that all these activities when reported or discussed here will not focus on Kate but rather on the solemnity of the events being remembered.

Could we agree now we will try to avoid our discussions focusing on her hair her clothes her whatever?  She is the least important element of these commemorations.  Let's not give her an importance she has not merited.

Even if she makes an utter fool of herself - even if her skirts blow up and give us both frontal and rear exposure of her g string - nothing she does could outweigh the horror of those wars - the enormity of the sacrifice that had to be made by our ancestors.  She is like a gnat on the body of an elephant - an annoyance - but nothing more.

And one can hope she will finally conduct herself with grace and dignity in a manner which honors the memory of those who served.

Will and Harry I have no fears about - they will represent the UK proudly.  And yes - Will should wear his RAF uniform - if he wears a uniform - I bet it is the Irish Guards - he seems to love to wear that uniform and has a sense of closeness to that regiment.

You are quite right in this, cate1949 but this is the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge thread so whatever is relevant with respect to them will be mentioned here but a separate thread can be opened on Current Affairs or Royalty Today to foster a discussion on all matters related to the subject.
Kate did, for the first time, behave incredibly maturely at the Remembrance Ceremony in Oz, so there is reason to hope she will contain herself from showing visible signs of boredom this time...  :yesss:
"You don't have to be pretty. You don't owe prettiness to anyone. Not to your boyfriend/spouse/partner, not to your co-workers, especially not to random men on the street. You don't owe it to your mother, you don't owe it to your children, you don't owe it to civilization in general. Prettiness is not a rent you pay for occupying a space marked 'female'." :goodpost: I agree. Out of respect for those served in that decisive battle I hope we can keep the discussion on the veterans.
