Hi everyone, I thought this could be a good place for people to put up links to the large amount of Diana related media (news specials, documentaries, books, etc.) that will be produced this year. Not all of us can view TV in all regions, so we might miss them until they get put on the net. :flower:

That's a very good idea. Thanks, Duch_ , speaking as a citizen of a Commonwealth realm where the BBC film King Charles III hasn't even been on TV yet! The BBC especially hugs its dramas and docos to its bosom and things from them often don't get on YouTube for years.

Allow me to help you out with that...

if the main link doesnt work, theres about 4 to 5 on the right side that at least one or two will work.

Seeing Lady Diana emerge from the Glass Coach with a 25 foot train and escorted by her father makes one think of how young she was in actuality. The youngest daughter of an Earl about to become a Princess!

Charles, Charles, Charles. How snotty and petulant? The arrogance and entitlement is absolutely shocking.  Dear God, it must be a war of attrition working for those royals

I thought the bit about them talking about why whom was cheering for whom was very insightful to the whole Wales tale, one can imagine a very low Diana after Charles description of the crowds early on, but then as she grew in awareness and confidence her accurate description of why theyre cheering for him. Also the bit of the royal pride was very telling, and also shows why she would always be at odds with them.

I also thought it interesting like Clive, she ignored the advice of older and wiser, but still plugged into the old system in exchange for doing things her way.

Also the pic of her is delightful, mid laugh, im normally not a fan of her nails painted but with the red dress and glass they look nice.

Betrayed everywhere she looked. George Michael secretly recorded a phone conversation he had with Diana towards the end of her divorce proceedings, and later gave it to his friend 'to finance his retirement'.

I do not blame Diana at all for wanted to talk to someone about her problems, frustrations and hopes for the future. She had become isolated quite a lot by that time of her life. The problem is that these are conversations you have with your mum, dad, siblings and a few very trusted friends...not a drugged up celebrity. I doubt a Bowker or Monckton would sell a recorded telephone conversation with Diana.

Songs of Praise special on Princess Diana to suggest she had more of a Christian faith than was widely believed

Sounds like an interesting special, but I vow to thee my country always gets the waterworks going for me, it will forever be linked to her.

Special programme: Remembering Princess Diana | Meridian - ITV News

a lovely 30 minute news magazine style show by itv on her and ppl remembering her. Its worth watching an interview by her history teacher back at West Heath, aside from the usual things we know about that time, she shared a moment when Diana failed her O level in history she left flowers for her teacher with a lovely note expressing her regret over it.

The teacher noted what teenager would think about doing a gesture like that for their teacher.....we all know the answer to that one  Yet another time I said to myself " of course thats something she would do" yet another reason why shes loved so. :flower:

This really should go in the other thread I suppose but I really didn't want it to get morphed into my post about William and those Playboy mags.

Anyway, this is quite a cute story about how Diana got smuggled out of Australia away from an extremely voracious press, before her engagement. It also shows, I think, that both Diana's parents were people persons, not at all snobbish, very good with thankyou letters and keeping in touch, however fleeting the original acquaintanceship was.

Just found this. I didn't know that there had been a multi artist tribute album issued in 1997 after Diana's death. And how many of these songs are so appropriate to Diana and to her passing.

Does the world need another film about Diana and her troubled marriage? Apparently it does as one will be filmed next year tentatively called 'Spencer' (might change) and starring of all people, Kristen Stewart! Let's hope she can do a British accent!

Kristen Stewart to play Princess Diana in new film Spencer | Film | The Guardian

oak_and_cedar

She's an ok actress. I think the director is talented and the idea interesting. The height difference is slightly amusing. Stewart is maybe 5'4 while Diana was 5'10 I believe. Though it might be difficult to find actresses in that height range?

Curryong

Aussie Naomi Watts played Diana in a much criticised film on her life several years ago. Naomi is quite a small woman but I think the height difference was the least of her problems! The film was absolutely panned and I seem to remember Naomi expressing regret that she ever took the role. It's a hellish part to play as Diana is still remembered vividly by so many people.

She was terrible.. but the script was also very bad...

I tried to watch the Naomi film when it came on tv a while back. It was boring.  If it hadn't been for the unique situation Diana was in she would have probably been very private. So I think that any movie that's made about Diana is seen as a little bit exploitative. Though she is a historical figure.

QueenAlex

If Diana had not married Charles nobody would know who she was, so its unlikely that she woudl have been in any way a public figure....

oak_and_cedar

I meant as a princess of Wales. If she had not been in the same predicament I doubt she would have gone public. As POW that is.
