The Duke of Cambridge this morning received Air Chief Marshal Sir Stuart Peach (Chief of the Defence Staff).

It looks like royal duties will take more importance now.  He did say when he took the air ambulance job that it would only be short term before royal duties took over.

Also I believe that it is part of his ongoing training for his future role.  It's very similar to what his father and his father's current and former heir-to-the-throne peers have undertaken.
