William and Kate havent decide for christening date will be but im sure will be October or less christening or next years before off to trips we have wait and see will have official date be from palace, clarence house no guess games till annoucement christening dates will be..
No way they would pick James Middleton over Harry for Godfather.
Two godparents easy-Pippa and Harry.
James M for their next child.
K has one sister. Easy choice there.
K and W each have a brother.
PH would be first for this child over JM.
Maybe they will have JM too, but they have to have other men as godfathers and JM would take up one of those spaces reserved for crowed heads, PW closet titled named friends, etc.
Seems a christening would be by Oct., the latest. That is three months. kind of long.
The Christening can't be before October because The Queen will be in Balmoral and she will have to be there. It will probably follow tradition, at least I hope it does, and thus be in BP with the Archbishop of Canterbury doing the honours with water from the River Jordan and a few photos released afterwards to the public and maybe even a video of the family gathering before or after with the actual event being totally private for the family and godparents.
im sure PW and Kate will chosen godparents who will be but both already chosen siblings PH and Pippa since wedding in 2011 and both havent decide who will add godparents will be?!? PW and PH both had 6-7 godparents as baby you will find out who will be Prince George's godparents will be!! But HM Queen will be there for christening plus member of Royal family too who will attend on lists..

I don't think they will include a Midd sibling at all. It's just not tradition to acknowledge any other family than the royal one, and Godparents are inevitably - a royal, a group of the royal parent's (in this case William) hangers-on, and one rich guy. So it'll be four of William's friends, prince or princess _______ of Europe (not Harry, he'll be Godfather to the spare), and the Duke of Westminster.
I can't see this changing.

HM Queen been in Balmoral every years on summer vacation till October i think so but HM Queen will be there for her great-Grandson's christening she wont miss that but HM Queen DID attend her grandchild's christening and she never miss!! Plus member of Royal family's christening also you will find out..But will have official pictures also due permission from palace and Clarence House also to publish pictures and plus magazine around world plus USA too
I'm putting my money on one of the van cutsem brothers.Besides arent the God parents usually a married couple? That's what I have come to see but I guess anything is possible.
I don't think so; none of William's were a married couple.
If Baby George has the usual number (six), I think it will be one member of the RF, one close friend, and one wealthy aristocrat.
(Not the Duke of Westminster; his wife was William's godmother so that would be odd, imo).
Nor do I think they'll have any of the Greeks; I was thinking they might choose one of the European Royals, Like Frederik or Mary.
They, W&K, have no relationship with any of the European Royal Houses, barely with the Spencers, even less with the Greeks and an apparently now occasional lukewarm one with the Windors. But they will have some...
-godparents of PW and PH
For Prince William: former King Constantine II of Greece (his paternal cousin); Princess Alexandra (his paternal cousin); the Duchess of Westminster; the Lady Susan Hussey; Lord Romsey (his paternal cousin); and Sir Laurens van der Post.
For Prince Harry: the Prince Andrew (his paternal uncle); the Lady Sarah Armstrong-Jones (his paternal cousin); the Lady Vestey; Mrs William Bartholomew; Bryan Organ; and Gerald Ward
wikki-source
I would be shocked if they do have Pippa and Harry be godparents.
Then maybe, room for one of PW 's closets friends. Seems he would be allowed this. K, no. His friends seem to be her freinds anyway.
The rest have to be of the nobility, superich somone.
Maybe for this kid, Begiums' new K and Q.
PW is godparent to Princess M.Cahntal Pavlos ' child.
Maybe she and her prince husband.
It will be itneresting how PW, K, QEII and TPTB chose this.

We have wait and see who will become official godparents be?!? I'm sure William been close their royals cousins mostly I'm sure William and Kate know circle friends since attend weddings they chosen godparents for their baby George let William and Kate decide on the lists limit 6-7 godparents if both chosen foreign royals you will surprise!! I don't know who will be on the lists?!?
IF William and Kate chosen siblings to become godparents due respectively since their wedding April 29,2011 I don't wanted judge on William and Kate let their decide have sibling as godparents mostly royals can allowed have godparents plus family they can trust in family member..
Actually Diana chose three of her own untitled friends to be Prince Henry's godparents.
I seriously doubt W & K will choose anyone as old as Will's god parents were when Chas chose them for him.
I agree that one of the van Cutsems is a good bet. I also think one of the Spencers shall be chosen as Will is always adamant about including them in anything connected to him...as in bd parties, weddings et al. He may choose Viscount Louis Spencer, for instance.
Could be Uncle Henry will be included and / or one of the Kents, such as Lady Helen Taylor.
As for one of Kate's siblings, Phillipa is the most likely.
Baby Georgie will always be surrounded by Middletons, Spencers and Windsors. Both W & K are very family oriented which is jolly ideal given the burden of being royal.
I can't imagine them having Harry, Pippa, or James as the godparents, since they are already uncles and aunts. Maybe a cousin, or a very close friend.
I will let you know when my invitation arrives :happy15:

It would be great if W & K were willing to choose Middletons and Spencers as Godparents. Pippa and James will be influences no matter what, so why not admit that publically by naming one of them? The fact that they are an uncle and an aunt is no barrier, after all, prince Andrew is one of Harry's Godfathers.
And, as someone mentioned on another board, baptisms and christenings are times of renewal and reconciliation, so choosing a Spencer would be a wonderful way to demonstrate that William, at least, is willing to move on from the past and end the royal habit of holding grudges. Making the Viscount Althorp a Godparent would be a great way to accomplish this without throwing grease on to the fire. But, really any close member of Diana's family will do.
Honestly though I just don't see it. IMO, the Godparents will be made up of hangers-on, a royal, and a really rich guy or gal. It is the royal way, and I can't see that changing.
You guys are right. That would look nice, cool, if PW had an aunt Spencer of his or uncle Spencer be a godparent.
Any chances, I would think not, but TPB, II or LPBLopes.
I bet TPTB would love and are probably pushing for that.
No.
If so ,before one of his aunts or his uncle Spencer?
Wow!
I am just speculating.
I could see a Parker-Bowles as an outsider option for a Godparent. I do see Charles pushing for it. But whether he'll succeed, who knows?
godparents chosen is Prince Harry and Pippa Middleton but Prince William chosen favour Tom Van Straubanzee for godfather from prep school and Kate chosen Alice St.John Webster for godmother from Marlborough College but i dont know will add more godparents Wills and Kate makes decide on godparents add three finger cross..
^^ Somehow I think Prince Harry won't be this child's Godfather. He strikes me as a traditionalist, and my guess is he'll want to focus his wisdom on the child that will share his role in life. I'm betting he'll be prefer to be a Godfather for child number two.

How about these Godparents:
Pippa - no because she too high profile
Harry - no because he'll want to be Godfather to the spare
So:
Thomas Van S
Kate's friend
Peter Philips
Princess Bea
James Middlton
Laura Lopes
I think the Spencers are out completely, they weren't included in the wedding, they won't be included in this. But for the rest, Charles is happy (Laura Lopes), Kate's happy (her friend and brother), William's happy (TVS), and the queen and royals are happy (Bea and Peter).
I think this is possible.
Harry most probably will be godfather I mean comeon hehe
I love their christning gowns ..should be kept safely for generations http://img2.timeinc.net/people/i/cbb/archive/2008/04/17/wessex.jpg
Andrew is a godfather to the spare, Harry, so it makes sense that Harry would wish to be a godfather to the spare as well. Not having him as godfather to George is not an insult after all. And, like I said, I can see Harry wanting to do that.
This christening better happen quickly, before George outgrows that gorgeous gown!

A major social event. I can't wait! :happy20:
How much we see will depend on whether William intends on sticking to BRF traditions of private christenings with a few photos and maybe 20 seconds of video released or make it a public event. I suspect the former as he guards his privacy. The rumours I have read so far are quiet, family baptism with godparents and family and very, very close friends and not the public shows done on the continent.
^I agree. But I do think that the BRF needs to learn to have a little give and take with the press. If they would allow the press a little more access when they are doing official duties, the press might leave them alone more.
The press are free to cover official duties as much or as little as they like.
It is private events that the BRF want to keep private and frankly they should be allowed some private time - the show outside the hospital in the lead up to George's birth was unseemly and frankly a very good reason why they should think about giving birth at home next time.
We saw the wedding, we see them out at social events and we see them on official duties - we do not need to see everything and a few private events, in their lives, is fine.
If you think about it - the only major events in William's life not in the public sphere are his actual birth, his baptism and his proposal to Kate. Everything else was covered by the press - his coming home from hospital, his starts at schools - each of them, his leaving school, his gap year, his start at uni, his graduation from uni, his start in the army, graduating from Sandhurst, graduating with his wings, his wedding, etc etc. Three private events in his life - and that is about all he can expect - three private major events in his lifetime and he will only remember one of them. Even parents' days at school had press coverage - who can remember the outcry when it was announced that he had asked his parents to stay away from one such day as the press intrusion spoilt the day for the other parents so he invited Tiggy instead?
Photos will definitely be released and even possibly a short video but to have the entire ceremony is unreasonable.
was this also a replica or..... :hmm: http://waltzingmorethanmatildadotcom1.files.wordpress.com/2011/05/2011-0425-britain-elizabeth.jpg
That's the replica. Everyone since James has had the replica.
I don't think it is necessary to share the Christening with the public but I don't think it is unreasonable. They don't have a few private events, actually, they have a few public events, work aside, for those that work. Their birthday/anniversary and such celebrations are all private. There are nine months in a pregnancy, how many different days of those nine months x 30 (average) were Kate or William photographed, not many. It is not like they don't have private time.
I was making the point about the lack of MAJOR events in William's life that have been private - his birth, baptism and proposal. Even his 21st meant press coverage of the party at Windsor Castle - at least of the guests arriving and the guy who gate-crashed it.
Major events in a person's life to me are:
birth, baptism, starting pre-school, starting day school, starting boarding school, starting high school, confirmation, graduating high school, gap year, starting uni, graduating uni, 21st/18th birthday, starting military training, graduating military training, starting work, proposing to girl, announcing engagement, wedding, birth of first child etc.
How many of these were days that William didn't have the press around? 3 of them - birth, baptism and proposing to Kate. Every other MAJOR event in his life has been covered by the press, along with a lot of less major events.
Some of those are not private events even for private citizens unless they occur in the moon. There is press for his major events, he is the future King, his subjects do wish to share in those events.
Quote from: LIMABEANY on August 06, 2013, 10:06:31 AM

I have done every one of the things I listed as Major events in the life of William and except for my family and those sharing the experience there was no one else there - no press, no outsiders etc.
William is entitled to have at least a few experiences like that as well - a private major event, such as the baptism of his first child.
Why the public insist on perving on every part of their lives I will never know - I think the BRF have got it right for instance with the wedding - show the wedding and the balcony and then have the reception in private without the prying eyes of the world as the Scandinavians have - but then the Scandinavians don't have the world looking on do they? Only royal fans, and ex-pats, would be interested as most people don't even know they exist.
I agree, but I don't find the interest in major events as unreasonable as you do
I think they are just ordinary people in extraordinary positions and to allow them one or two major events in their entire lives to be private ones isn't unreasonable - one or two in a lifetime of major milestone events out of what 80+ years of living in the public eye where the press are there almost all the time to report every move as soon as they set foot outside the door I don't think is too much to let them have:
baptisms and proposals - that is about it - everything else is in the public domain so I don't think it is unreasonable that the parents are able to have that one event with their children as a private one.
Mostly Royals house wanted show pictures include weddings, engagements, birth of child, baptism, etc they have rightsful in private lifes of monarchy,CP couples,Duke&Duchess,Prince&Princess,Earl&Countess or any types of titles of royals who relates of royals family they can publish pictures in magazines..
im sure Prince William have rightsful of his private lifes since his birth to adult he told interview when he was in gap years he can protect his lifes but he never throw his own lifes!
Press can taking pictures of new brand Prince of Cambridges since he was born and wait till baptism annoucement date will be but will taking pictures include Royals family and Middletons plus George also but palace chosen good pictures to publish magazines on cover in UK,USA and world magazines agency also..i cant wait Kate get back shed her weight after baby finger cross..

I am looking forward to the occasion already :) though it is disappointing that the ceremony will not be shown on television. Whenever a Royal baptism is televised in Sweden and in most of the other European Monarchies, it is usually very popular. But of course, these things are personal and if the British Royal family have a tradition of privacy at these occasions, then their wishes should be respected. I am glad that the Prince will be baptised in a Royal chapel, though, and not in the music room of Buckingham palace. This has always struck me as an odd choice of venue.....does any one know where this particular tradition comes from?

Before WWII BP had a chapel - which is where QEII, for instance was baptised - but it was destroyed during the War (and is now The Queen's Gallery). As a result in 1948 there was no chapel there when Charles was born but they still wanted to baptise the future king in BP and so they used the Music Room as they did for Anne, Andrew and William.

Thank you for your post, Mememe. I had read that the palace had been hit by bombs during WW2 and seen photographs of the King and Queen inspecting damage, but I had no idea that an original chapel of the palace had been destroyed. I have been in London permanently for just under three years and have yet to take the tour of the Palace, but when I do, I shall certainly remember that the Queen`s Gallery was once the palace chapel. :)
We have known what George would wear since the new gown was made for James so no surprises there.
We have known who would perform the ceremony as well - as the Archbishops of Canterbury have been the ones to baptise the acknowledged direct heirs - not necessarily indirect heirs like Harry or The Queen.
If they really wanted publicity it would be televised but the BRF don't need publicity and are able to have some events in their lives behind closed doors such as the baptism and the receptions for weddings for the heirs.
This is no different to what happened with William - date and place announced about a month before the christening and the godparents a day or so in advance.

QuotePrince George to be Christened in St James's Palace Chapel Where Diana's Body Lay Before Her Funeral
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge said they had made the 'very personal' decision to have their son, Prince George, christened in the chapel where Prince William's mother's body lay before she was buried.
In a break with Royal tradition, the couple have chosen to hold an 'intimate' ceremony at the Chapel Royal of St James's Palace - where the body of Diana, Princess of Wales, lay before the altar for a week before her burial in 1997 so her family could pay their last respects.
Only closest family and friends will be present at the christening, which will take place on October 23, conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Reverend Justin Welby.

There is a regular morning service at the St James chapel, on Sundays. A friend of my mother has been to this service (she is a devout Anglican) and she has said that the chapel has a beautiful atmosphere. The connection with the late Princess Diana will only add to the dignity and solemnity of this occasion, I believe.
I know Hugh Van Cutsem name has come up as a potential Godparent, but what about Thomas V (cant spell his last name but he married Melissa Percy) as a Godparent? Wasnt he pictured up at Balmoral with William a few weeks ago? Maybe he and Mellisa went up there and he was asked...just a thought.

That is the old christening gown and won't be used for George. The Queen had that gown replaced for the birth of James - and the new gown is the one George will wear.

QuoteThe 7 Most Controversial Royal Christenings
The christening of Prince George of Cambridge on October 23 in the Chapel of Royal of St. James's Palace will be private occasion attended by family, close friends and the royal baby's godparents. From Saxon times until well into the reign of Queen Victoria, however, royal christenings were often public occasions. When the christening of a royal baby went according to plan, the ceremony effectively symbolized the close relationship between the Crown and the Church and presented the next generation of royal heirs to the world. Unfortunately, royal christenings also had the potential to showcase unfortunate omens, religious discord and conflicts within the royal family regarding names, godparents and child rearing. Here are the 7 most controversial British royal christenings:

Prince George is not the only royal baby to be christened in the Chapel Royal at St James's Palace this year. Next month, Miss Maud Windsor – daughter of Lord and Lady Frederick Windsor and granddaughter of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent – will also be baptised there.

QuotePrince George's Big Day: Your Invitation to the Christening of the Year
It is the christening the whole world would love to attend. However, when Prince George is baptised on Wednesday at the Chapel Royal in St James's Palace, there could be fewer than 60 people gathered in the 16th century sanctuary.
The room where Elizabeth I said prayers before the Spanish Armada was defeated in 1588 and Charles I received Holy Communion before his execution in 1649, is steeped in history.
Mary I's heart is buried beneath the choir stalls and Queen Victoria married her beloved Prince Albert there in 1840. For Prince William and brother Harry the chapel has poignant memories. They paid their respects there to Diana, whose body lay in front of the altar for a week before her funeral in 1997.

Hey Everyone,
Sorry for the late reply I have been extremely busy for work, When I was in Scotland couple of weeks ago I learn that Van Melissa Husband will be one of Prince George God Father, I was not surprise because I Saw him hanging out with William and friends at a hunting party in Scotland and it make sense since Van is more of William friend and I am just reporting these base on what I saw since I was there only as a guest of friend. As for Cressida or anyone else I don't know but I was very inform that the media and the paparazzi will be all surrounding the church and the street leading to the church will be close form Tuesday midnight until the parade or I will call it the naming ceremony of Samba aka lion king is over so the chance of anyone sneaking uninvited is highly impossible :flower:

I absolutely agree with the Archbishop and here, I may be stepping on toes because I know that many people on RIF are not believers. From the point of view of someone who is, baptism is the most important moment of a child`s life, a commitment is made to God which hopefully will be carried on into adult life and in the case of Prince George, this commitment will have even greater importance given that he will one day be the head of the established church in England. I know that the Queen is said to be quite devout and takes her role as supreme governor of the C of E very seriously, but what of Prince Charles and Prince William? It is not an aspect of their Royal lives that we hear or read about very often, or even at all

Barely able to muster a word, how can a baby commit to God?
I apologise, I can see that I phrased that wrongly :blank: The blessing with holy water and the vows made by his parents and Godparents are of course a commitment to God which is made on the child`s behalf. Wether he or she makes their own personal commitment can only happen if they agree to be confirmed in the church. As I understand, both the Duke and Duchess are confirmed members of their church so hopefully they will see that their son follows suit, I do hope so but it will be his own personal choice of course.

The choice of Earl Grosvenor is the most surprising to me for I wasn't aware of any special acquaintance between the parents and the Grosvenor family. It seems Prince Harry went to his recent party. Any information on that ?
Because the only explanation Prince of Wales's site gives is : Earl Grosvenor is the son of The Duke of Westminster. whereas for the other godparents you have is the close friend of, attended the university and so on. For me the Grosvenor family wasn't very much part of William/Kate/Harry/Pippa (etc.)'s circle. What explanation do you have ?
I would have bet cold hard cash on Tom Van Straubenzee. Earl Grosvenor is a surprise move but I like it.

Earl Grosvenor is the resident rich-kid Godparent. He's 22, his dad is worth billions, and he had a blow-out 21st birthday party (Hugh, Earl Grosvenor comes of age in style at Eaton Hall 21st birthday bash - Chester Chronicle (http://www.chesterchronicle.co.uk/news/chester-cheshire-news/hugh-earl-grosvenor-comes-age-5181945)). For all the complaining on this board, these sound like the typical royal Godparents.
I think I'm the only one who is happy and excited that hugh is one of the godparents he is still young but I think in the future he will do good things

I suspected a Grosvenor would be a godparent ever since I read that William, Kate, and George flew to Balmoral on a private plane owned by the Duke of Westminster.
But I (wrongly) thought it would be Lady Tamara Van Cutsem (a chance to get a Grosvenor and a Van Cutsem in one). :teehee:
I figured Zara would be a pick since she's always been close to William. I am a bit surprised Harry wasn't chosen, but perhaps William felt if they'd asked him they'd have to have a Middleton sibling to balance.
The one that surprises me is Julia Samuel.
william van cutsem??? yeaaah my William hehehehe i thought it was Hugh!!! I like William as a grandfather.. they always talk about the rest of the brothers and not him hahhaha

No, there is no pretense of normal in these choices. Perhaps all the disappointed royalists on the board will feel encouraged. Kate may not be working enough for them to justify adoring her blindly (as they do the rest of that family), but she is honoring the royal tradition of choosing Godparents on the basis of avarice and exclusion.
Zara may not technically be called a princess, but she is a royal. Earl Grosvenor is a Lord. These are not a bunch of "Mr. and Mrs."
I thought that was her, but I wasn't sure....

Oli Baker, 31, met the Duke and Duchess at St Andrews University, where he became one of a small circle of friends known as “Sallies boys” after the St Salvator’s halls of residence where they lived. He was one of two friends who shared a house with the Duke and Duchess during their final two years at university. When Mr Baker married Mel Nicholson at St Andrews in 2010, the Duke and Duchess were among the guests.
Emilia Jardine-Paterson

In 2007, when the Duke and Duchess temporarily split up, Mrs Jardine-Paterson was one of a handful of friends who consoled the Duchess during a holiday at her uncle Gary Goldsmith’s villa in Ibiza. She also attended St Andrews University, where she became friends with the Duke. She runs her own interior design business called d’Erlanger and Sloan. Today at 15 pm London, Prince George was baptized in front of friends and immediate family of the Dukes of Cambridge.
With English punctuality, the christening of Prince George began promptly at 9 am from Mexico. The Dukes and special guests gathered at the Palace of St James for such an event. Those who could not miss were the great-grandparents, the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall and Prince Harry. Admas of Mr. and Mrs. Middleton, James Middleton and Pippa Middleton. It was the first time he saw the baby since the first official photos publicaronlas.
Once all entered the Chapel Royal the service was closed to all chambers. However, the official press release gave some inside information on the milestone.

I see a both William and Kate in George. I thought he looked adorable and decidedly unimpressed with his big day. William didn't resemble either of his parents at his christening either.
I see both of them in George as well. I can't wait for the official photos to be released.
I think the baby looks like both his parents as well ... favoring Kate ...

I think the baby looks like both his parents as well ... favoring Kate ...
For me, George has :
- Kate's face shape (oval) And cheeks the same.
- As the Daily Mails suggests it, same ears as his father's ones. Never thought about that !
- William's eye shape, Diana's eye shape I guess. Kate's eyes are round while William's ones are a little more stretched, oriental-shaped. I paid attention to this detail because I have almond/oriental-shaped eyes myself and this is clear on my baby photos. George's eye shape look a little bit like mine on my old photos.
- Eye color : a mystery.
- Hair color : still a mystery. I daresay he will be dark-haired because baby with his hair color rarely go back to blond. The amount of melanine in his hair is secret. :hehe:
- Nose shape : I have nose like Kate's one and I find it hard to believe his nose looks like his mother's one. I find the bridge too strong, even too curvy to like her nose. To be frank, I wonder if it tends to be aquiline.
- Eyebrows : his are ligther than his mother's ones, as a baby. Maybe they come from his father. Hard to say.
Any thoughts ?
He had and still has his father's nose when he came out of the hospital and yesterday, the exact same wide flared nostrils.

The tip of his nose is different, Will's nose seems to point down but George's is like Kate's in that sense, I agree with the flared nostrils though.
I still dont see how hes like any of them honetsly...obviouslly analising pieces..he has wills ears and nose...kates hands whathever it may make sense...but seeing him with kate and william i dont see any rese,blence..he doe slooks mor elike kate coz well hes dark haired and with brown eyes..theres no wya he looks more like william whos blonde and blue eyes..he sure pushed mroe to kates side...but still i dont see how he has something similar to her...
On baby pics yeah totally hes her face entirelly and even have some traits of wills but well to me most babys looks the same anyway...
But woth his parentes he dont look nothing like any in my view at least...
some kida looks excatlly like some of thehre parenst from dayt one...others dont anyway..
i jsut dont see how he looks with them..to me he looks wat more like pippa or mike...not at all with kate..my views anyway...
Julia Samuel, Prince George's godmother and Diana's close friend speaks of her joy | Mail Online (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2474853/Julia-Samuel-Prince-Georges-godmother-Dianas-close-friend-speaks-joy.html)
QuoteOne of Princess Diana's oldest friends has spoken of her joy at becoming Prince George's godmother.
Julia Samuel told MailOnline that she was delighted at the honour and saw her role as an 'important responsibility'.
The inclusion of Mrs Samuel, 54, in yesterday's list of seven godparents was a poignant acknowledgement of William's late mother.
She met and became friends with Diana in 1987 when the two were seated next to each other at a dinner and, according to Mrs Samuel, 'saw something in each other'.
Although the princess fell out with many of her friends, Mrs Samuel remained loyal.
William is now royal patron of the charity Child Bereavement UK, of which she is founder patron and trustee.
In her statement The Hon Mrs Michael Samuel - as she was referred to by Kensington Palace yesterday - said: 'I am delighted to have been invited to become godmother to His Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge.
'It is both a joyful and an important responsibility which I am incredibly proud to accept.'
they were only friends for 10 years before Diana died, so not one of her oldest friends as the DM sensationalizes, but apparently a very good one.

Well I would have to have had a day filled with meetings yesterday! Only catching up with Prince George now!
I personally can never tell which side of a family a baby takes after - especially since they change so much and so rapidly! But I will say that he looks like a cute content chubby little fellow, God bless him. His parents seems delighted with him and simply beam with joy when holding him.
Looking forward to the official photos!!

If it is the photography charging then I don't blame him - this is his profession and income. He has a product that he is selling.
If it is the RF charging then I hope it is going to charity.
This was a private family event and the public doesn't "deserve" to see the photos, nor is it our right
I see no reason to call William a disgrace. Personally I never understood having real aunts and uncles be godparents. I always thought of it as a way to increase the number of people involved in a child's life. And if you look at the royal family, that has tended to be the way they handle it as well. I strongly doubt that Harry (or Pippa) is offended.
I disagree. The christening of the future King and future head of the Church is not an event the public doesn't have a right to see.
But it was private. The RF are treating it as private and rightfully so. What purpose would it serve being public? Accountability? To what or who? Why would the christening of a 3 month old be of any importance to the tax payer - the only reason I could see something having to be public. This is a private family event. The want to know is not the same as right to know.
They may make it private but given who the child is and what the event is about, I think it should have been public. Or the pictures should be made public. I don't think they should do it all privately and not make his future subjects part of it somehow. Sharing the pics is fine, I would not have expected cameras and videos at Church but to say his future subjects don't have a right to see pictures of it, I don't agree with that or charging them for it. Why shouldn't the public charge them for the use of their protection officers then?
Are you saying that it should have been open to anyone to go see? Televised? Who is going to pay for that? There was enough criticism for the wedding cost. Again, public curiosity is not enough of an excuse to make a christening a public event.
The photos are being made available. But at a cost. And as I said in my previous post, I agree with that.
Prince George is adorable, I think he looks a lot like William as a baby (expect William had rounder eyes in my opinion). However in some photos, such as this one, (http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-bgapBn6Y6U8/UmfnNDMuCZI/AAAAAAABGbI/Pa3hNN6fUGA/s1600/prince-george-cambridge-vogue-12-23oct13-pa_b.jpg) he doesn't look like either of his parents. It will be interesting to see who he resembles more as he grows up.
The BRF are getting beaten by the other European royals ie Danish Swedish etc .........they come off as regal and all stick together plus they wear their Crown Jewels occasionally they aren't trying to be something they're not ...
Zara took me by surprise, I didn't think that a Grosvenor would be on the list either. I was also surprised at how William and Kate didn't choose neither Harry or Pippa as godparents. I guessed that van Cutsem would be included, but I guessed the wrong one (Hugh).
A christening is a religious ritual, an affirmation of faith through the proxy of the parents and godparents. Faith, to me, because it's so very personal, is something that's normally kept somewhat private. I can see why the Royals want their christenings to be kept exclusively to the immediate family and sponsors.

QuotePrince George Christening: Portrait That Shows the Future of the Monarchy
The Queen and the next three kings pictured together for the first time
For any other family, they would be treasured mementoes mounted in an album and taken off the shelf during special occasions. For the House of Windsor, they are images which project Britain's past, present and future and their message is clear: the monarchy is here to stay.
This is one of the official portraits of Prince George and his family taken in the Morning Room at Clarence House following his christening on Wednesday.
They were taken by Jason Bell, 44, whose pictures in the permanent collection of the National Portrait Gallery caught the eye of the Duchess of Cambridge, who is the gallery's Patron.

Jason Bell clearly showed his professional and artistic work in this photo.
All are happy ; especially Queen Elizabeth who is beaming. Probably due to the merry attention Georgie granted to her and to her cerulean blue outfit !

Plus the photographer remarkably highlights Queen Elizabeth's complexion.
The official photos are lovely, I'm glad we got one of the four monarchs (well, three future and one reigning). I love the one of George throwing his arms up in the air. :D
George with his hands up in the air is adorable. And, HM looks very happy in the group photo looking at the baby. Again, lighting is an issue, I wonder why the photographer didn't prepare beforehand.

Prince George Christening Photos Revealed
Prince George Christening Photos Revealed (http://news.sky.com/story/1159355/prince-george-christening-photos-revealed)
After looking at the pictures...I don't like them. George is a very cute baby, but the rest of them have been photoshopped to hell and back
Additionally, the smiles all look very forced, and stiff. They don't look natural. I fault the photographer.
I LOVE baby Georges take-off! He is very cute and the Queen looked wonderful. Next to the baby, she was the best thing in the pictures.
I hate the 3 women in the same color. It looks bad. And Carol just disappears, blending into the dark suits. I really don't even notice her in the picture.
William should not have been seated in the group picture, Philip should have. I think the picture looks out of balance to me.
Why will no one ever tell these Windsor men to pull their freaking pant legs down when they sit down for a photo? One of my pet peeves.
The picture of Will, Kate and baby: Kate doesn't look real. I mean that literally. She does not look like a living real person. She looks.... I'm not sure what is wrong, if they over photo shopped it? Made her neck too small? tilted her head too much? Or all of the above.
If you blow up the pictures you can see little George seems to have blue/grey eyes. The loony brigade are saying that having Julia Samuel from child bereavement as a godparent means because everyone KNOWS they are not the biological parents and that every one KNOW Kate didn't carry this intruder then they are going to stage a cot death. Having said that the pictures where wonderful the family look happy, and while believing that neither Harry or Pippa are interested in each other I would love to see a picture of them kissing it would send loony brigade into exploading!

Kate's smile and expression is rather bizarre, although she is used to smile with her teeth ! :D Maybe having to hold and maybe to calm George in her arms while smiling is disturbing her. George's pose is unnatural for a 3-month-old. Remember at 3 months, a baby cannot sit up alone and spread his arms like that. You saw George waving his arms in the video, do you think he was spreading his arms for the photo by himself ? With this photo you would give him at least 6 months. Therefore Kate is helping him. As the photos surely took several attempts, it must have been an ordeal to her. That must explains her strained smiles !

Why, Kate is not at all at ease. The photographer wanted to try a pose too much difficult for a 3-month-old. Frankly, even with a 6-month-old or an older baby, it is difficult to attempt this pose. We feel the consequences of the difficulty of the photo on the mother's face.

I like the lighting. It quite suppresses Pippa's and her mother's fake tan. Thus it gives all of them a natural complexion. As for the Queen, her ghastly complexion doesn't bother me at all because I myself have a porcelain skin like her. Porcelain skin is out of fashion because cosmetics brands can't advertise for lightening products unlike tanning ones ! She should just put on a little bit more blush on cheeks. Bravo to the photographer to make even Pippa's and her mother's faces natural and healthy.

I think that only the Queen made a good choice of outfit and she is a lady of 87 years :D The colour of the Duchess` outfit was too close to the colour of the christening gown. It is a beautiful object but you cannot really appreciate it`s beauty because it appears to almost merge into the Duchess` clothes. Red or a paler shade of blue would have been a more appropriate choice for Kate. That said, I have just seen the four generation photograph compared along side the 1894 photograph of Edward VIII `s baptism and we should not forget just how historic Wednesday`s event was. :)

QuoteThe Official Photographs of Prince George's Christening
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have released four official photographs from Prince George's Christening. The photographs were taken by Jason Bell in the Morning Room at Clarence House immediately following Prince George's baptism in the Chapel Royal, St. James's Palace.
.....
Notes to Editors
The Morning Room at Clarence House was originally the Breakfast Room in John Nash's original design for the Duke of Clarence in 1825-7.
The sofa on which the group is seated is part of a suite of gilt-wood seat furniture by Thomas Chippendale which dates from about 1773. It is thought to have been commissioned by George III's brother (the Duke of Gloucester) and was in the Royal Collection by the Reign of George IV.
On the cabinet visible to the left of the sofa is a bronze bust of Princess Elizabeth made by William Lamb in 1933. A matching bust of Princess Margaret is on the opposite side of the room. On the wall above this cabinet to the left of the sofa is a portrait painted in oil "Their Royal Highnesses The Princess Elizabeth and The Princess Margaret in Windsor Great Park", 1945, by Frederic Whiting.

OK - big AWWW - for that great shot of little Georgie giving the world a big "lift-off" wave! He looks adorable and lively and very loved.
I don't worry too much about the photoshopping that so many are carping about. 19th and 20th century photographers did the equivalent of that with their photos and before that so did Van Dyck, Reynolds, Gainsborough etc. etc. The image usually looked better than the reality. In some of the pictures from the 1970s onward however it seems they were less careful of the image.
Some of the pictures of William's Christening seemed a bit random. There was one of all the family and the godparents on the couch and darned if everyone wasn't looking in different directions! One thing that did strike me - some who are looking for conspiracies have said that the Queen is sitting some distance from Kate in these pictures. In the William photographs, she was sitting exactly the same distance from Diana! That is just what these folks are like!

IMO in the officials photos, baby George was photoshopped so much he is no longer recognizable.
They added more hair and tinted it red. Smoothed over his head and face and painted his complexion porcelain white.
He looks more like a doll than a real child.
They all look smoothed over, to me. Too much so.

^Very adorable :blowkiss:
That's what I hope to see more of. Pictures of them actually interacting with George, and not just posing. He's a new baby, and the joy of their lives, and that's what the pictures should convey. I felt like the photographer used him more as a prop in the other pictures.
Now this is more like it! Little George is such a natural for the cameras! :therethere: :P
Very sweet. :vday2:
Cindy
The latest pic to me is the best . More natural and they look like real people . The pic of the 3 of them before ( George looks cute still ) makes them look like they belong in a wax museum . Pics from previous royal chris were better . They looked like they were glad to be there . Love the video from Harry's . THink it was showed during the Queens speech in 1984 for Christmas . . Maybe we will get a video .
Was there an 'official guest list released'? I thought the only official list was the god parents.
I think there was, but only family members and godparents were listed. I saw spouses of the godparents there in the video, but they weren't listed, either.

The new photo is adorable, George's smile is very sweet (I would love to see a video of it being taken). :vday2: It also seems to be informal and natural (even though it's an official photo), which is nice to see. I agree with robynrose - it's one of the best (if not the best) photos. Originally there were reports saying we would get two photos, I wonder what happened to the other one? Perhaps they wanted to keep it for the family photo album.
I was a little disappointed that the Queen was not holding Prince George in the four generation photograph, or indeed in any of the christening photographs. But apparently she is not photographed holding any of her grandchildren or great grandchildren, at their baptisms, so clearly she has her own reasons for not doing so. There is a photograph of her holding her first grandchild, Peter Phillips, when he was a baby but this was an informal snap taken by Mark Phillips and not an official christening photograph.

Prince William has known Lord Grosvenor all his life. The families have been friends for years. Grosvenor's grandmother, Lady Kennard, is one of the Queen's closest friends.
Grosvenor has Russian royal blood and thus a cousin of the Duke of Cambridge albeit several times removed.

Why don't we hear more about him he's cute enough if it wasn't for William and kate baby I would have never k own who he even is :blank:
He must have girls drooling can you imagine the golddiggers waiting to get married to him that guarantee s everything no work for life plus designer clothes and luxurious mansions to live in
Not to mention a chunk of Paris and some bits of Spain! :teehee:
Yes, the Duke is extremely wealthy; Earl Grosvenor has three sisters but he is the only son, he'll scoop most of the pot.
(Though his sisters will not exactly be left impoverished).
Kate Middleton and Prince William's royal baby girl's godparent could be Harry | Daily Mail Online (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-3037081/Who-godparent-Kate-Middleton-Prince-William-s-royal-baby.html)
Quote
Harry, for instance, counts several relations among his godparents, among them Prince Andrew and Princess Diana's cousin, Lady Celia Vestey.
In the same way, George VI, King Haakon VII of Norway, Queen Mary, Prince George of Greece and Denmark and Princess Margaret all stood as godparents to Prince Charles.
By contrast, younger brother Prince Andrew got the Duke of Gloucester, the Earl of Euston and Princess Alexandra of Kent.
So what does that mean for the new arrival. Unusually, it's possible that William and Kate's second child could end up with a more blue-blooded set of godparents than their first.
One likely candidate is Prince Harry, who missed out on being at the altar for Prince George but could stand in for the new princess.
I hope Harry is chosen as godfather. It would be a nice gesture from Will and Kate, and I'm sure Harry would be delighted. I think he probably sees quite a bit of George.
I wasn't surprised Harry (or Pippa) weren't chosen last time. I know it's common to do so, but it always strikes me as a bit odd to choose an aunt or uncle as a godparent, especially when they're the parent's only sibling. They're obviously going to play a big role in the child's life either way, so to me it makes sense to choose godparents who wouldn't otherwise have any particular standing in the child's life, to expand the number of people looking out for them. Just my own preference.
I think Pippa and Harry will be chosen this time. It is a special honor. Either way, they are day-in, day-out close to the child, moreso than godparents by name soo...it des not matter in a way. It is an honor.

I'm not sure if they're going to choose either of their own siblings who will certainly play a role in their niece's life. While Laura and Tom are the Wales brothers' step-siblings they would sort of fit into that category of aunt and uncle by marriage. :)
I believe they might go with an adult cousin (Peter, Beatrice, Eugenie or any adult Spencer/Middleton cousins) like they did last time along with some college friends.
I was surprised that the Countess of Wessex wasn't chosen as one of Prince George's godparents, so I'm going to predict she'll be a godmother to his new sister instead. I've always gotten the impression that the Wessexes and the Cambridges are fairly close - Lady Louise was afterall a bridesmaid at their wedding back in 2011.
I'm also thinking that one of Pippa or James will be a godparent, as well as one of William's friends (I doubt it will be Guy Pelly though, I just don't think he's 100% responsible enough to be a godparent...) and a friend of Kate's.
With family members, if the Countess of Wessex isn't chosen I'd like to see Viscount or Viscountess Linley instead.
the will choose friends I think.. William seems very normal in that concern. Harry, Pippa and a Van Cutsem brother will be there I think.
We have wait till the couple will chosen godparents who would be?!?

A Van Cutsem could be in the mix of Godparents considering their long standing friendship.
I think godparent choices are about 1) forming/cementing alliances (Grosvenor as an example) and 2) honoring friends/family. They have little to do with a serious expectation that the godparent will form the child's religious beliefs. That is the theoretical purpose but not the reality certainly not for Kate and Will who are rarely seen attending Church. Even if he is not particularly a believer - as the future head of the Church Will should make at least the occasional effort. I have read that Harry attends.
I can see excluding Harry or Pippa because they already occupy an honored role in the child's life - Aunt and Uncle and so there is no need to reinforce that by making them godparents. Although it is a nice gesture.
I just hope they do not make a complete farce of the whole baptism by picking Pelly - somehow a guy who promotes sex shows with midgets and lesbians hardly seems an exemplar of the faith.
It would be nice to see one of the York girls chosen even if just as a sort of peace offering. The VanCustems are Roman Catholic - I do not know the CoE rules re: godparents. In the RC one godparent can be non catholic so perhaps the CoE is the same.

In september do you mean? I think it would be in june/july, september is to late I think.... Probably end of July.
Well HM is typically still in Balmoral for much of September so I'm hoping for a late July date.
Another possibility is Tiggy Legge Burke as a Godmother for Charlotte. Her son Tom was a page boy at the wedding in 2011 and the Wales brothers were very close to her.
Baby Charlotte born on May 2 and it's would be baptized August or fall chosen but William and Kate haven't decide date for christening will be we have wait till official date from palace and Clarence House announced..
The couple did chosen christening date for George when he born July 2013 till he three month old on October and both didn't chosen sibling for godparents..but Charlotte will become three month old get christening not not two month old like her dad when he christening on August 4,1982 on HM queen mother's birthday but William get cried lots and Diana put her finger on William and calm its so noisy..
I'm hope the couple chosen friend will godparents not family like pippa or Harry if the couple makes decisions till christening..
I don't know how much godparents will be for Charlotte till day of christening kept under wraps..

I feel the Percys won't want. They are not that close with the Cambridges. As far as I know, George no longer associates with Pippa or James. I guess he (or his family) decided the Middletons are not that respectable. They are the symbol of the aristocracy who turned its back to the Middletons. On the other hand, the Van Straubenzees could, despite the disagreement on Lady Melissa's side.
Beatrice and Eugenie could be named godmothers... but I feel it will be a chore for them, given their relationship with Kate.
I like the idea that she will be christened at this little church that was the scene for the ceremonies for her grandmother and great-great-grandfather along with cousin Eugenie.

Princess Charlotte will wore gown same George in 2013 hello magazine says like past to present royals family
Yes. This will be the replica gown made when James was christened. AFAIK all of HM's great-grandchildren have worn it for their christenings as well and I'd imagine that the extended family members ie: Kents, Gloucsters could also have use of it for their grandchildren too.
^^^ That's correct. I think Lady Louise was the last royal to wear the traditional christening gown in 2003, which had been worn by every royal child starting from Victoria, Princess Royal (the eldest daughter of Queen Victoria).
I'm looking forward to the christening. I like how the church is the same one Diana was christened in, though I think they probably chose it more for practical reasons. But William and Harry were close to their mother so maybe the church was chosen for sentimental reasons as well.
The photos of St. Mary Magdalene's interior are lovely so I believe this will be a very pretty setting for the event.
Nice that the public will be invited to come see members of the BRF as they gather at St. Magdalene's church. I wonder if they were invited for Eugenie's christening in the 1990's? AFAIK she was the most recent member of the royal family to be christened there.

^^I'm sure they were, as it was a public christening at the local church. Eugenie's christening was a little different though, as the royals were all gathered together for Christmas 1990. There are videos and photos of the royal family, including the Queen Mother, Margaret, Anne and her children and Diana and William and Harry etc all standing for a photo outside afterwards. It was the 23rd of December and seemingly quite cold. Sarah was holding Eugenie who was wrapped in a thick shawl.

Thank you
@Curryong. Glad that someone recalls that event. One thing that I do remember is that Eugenie was older when she was christened so the original gown had to be unlaced int the back.
From looking at the old photos from that day
@SophieChloe it does appear that some members of the public are lining the path and others are behind a fenced area in the churchyard.
My hunch is that if they were going to choose a aunt or uncle that they would have done so with George's Godparents. So I believe that a Windsor cousin, university/school friend, perhaps a Spencer family member and former staff member ie: Tiggy would be in the running.
I hope for this child they choose a Spencer relative, an aunt or cousin perhaps.

It is very kind of HM to host a tea party for everyone after the christening. Wonder if little Charlotte will stay awake long enough to enjoy her party? :D
All three of Charlotte's names have been crammed into the design on the obverse of this coin. I just think this looks ugly and is unnecessary. They didn't incorporate that into George's coin, why do it this time?
I agree it looks too crowded, unless they absolutely wanted to incorporate "Diana" thinking it would hold more sentimental value and since it was the last name to include it, all the names had to be included, I don't see the point.

All three of Charlotte's names have been crammed into the design on the obverse of this coin. I just think this looks ugly and is unnecessary. They didn't incorporate that into George's coin, why do it this time?
My logical side says that the font for her names is the same, however when I look at it quickly what jumps out is Elizabeth Diana. Charlotte seems to be lost, perhaps due to the placement. I agree it's crowded looking.
Yes, I think it was a commercial decision, unfortunately.

Still under wraps of Charlotte's godparents till Sunday I told you wait till Sunday no godparents games names till Sunday let William and Kate chosen!! Who would be?!? Zip it!!
In my opinion could be van straubeezee, jecca graig, Peter Philip, one of the Spencer ( really remote), one of the percy or one of the Norfolk, they choosen an aristocratic for George.
I will put my money on the first three names I wrote.
I'm never right with these things, but here goes! I hope Tiggy will be in there with a chance. She was close to both princes. Alicia Foxe-Pitt perhaps, as a friend of Kate's. I don't think Tom and Melissa van Straubenzee are that close to William any more but they are an outside chance, I suppose. One of the van Cutsem brothers whose daughter was bridesmaid at Will and Kate's wedding might make the cut. I would have said Rebecca Deacon was a possible if she wasn't an employee, as she is close to Kate.
Thanks
@Curryong the other time I can't remember the Van Custem name, for me too one of them.
I vote for Sophie Wessex, and None of the Yorks. I really dont want them to have any influence in the Cambridge kids lives, they are such messes.
Catholic cristenings are a bit different, you have 2 godparents and they're usually your aunt or uncle or in my case my grandparents. I had no idea there were multiple Godparents in different Christian faiths till George was baptised.
Sophie was my original guess but I'm starting to doubt her now. Since George didn't have any HRHs but did have a relative as a godparent (Zara), it would be nice if Viscount Linley (or Viscountess Linley) were chosen as it says that Charlotte will have one relative in her set of godparents. Their daughter, Margarita Armstrong-Jones, was one of their bridesmaids and Margarita has been seen with both William and Kate at Christmas at Sandringham and Trooping the Colour respectively. William and Kate also stayed at the Linley's chateau in Provence (where the infamous topless photos of Kate were taken) so I think the two families are quite close.
I think Tiggy Legge-Bourke is another possibility, as I've read that she was almost like a second mother to William.
So far I believe all of our posters have named real possible candidates. We'll just have to see who was asked tomorrow. :)

So Tom van got the gig, plus another one of William's old friends, a cousin of William's, a cousin of Kate's and a friend from her uni days. Hmm, a bit of a spread across two families, plus old friends, just what you'd expect, really, and five, not six, godparents

I'm glad it is Laura Spencer instead of Laura Parker Bowles Lopes.
Tom van and Sophie Carter were once an item, (until he dumped her) so I hope there isn't an awkward moment over the tea and cake! Hilarious that James Meade's nickname is 'Badger'.
And there is the list.
Who is disappointed Again...PC and CPB> No TBP and Lady LL as royal godparents??
LOL!!!
N Brady Bunch family there.
What does it matter though because WHEN CAMILLA is QUEEN of ENGLAND, her kids and grandkids will be front and center.
The godparents list is short. A Spencer-SURPRISE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NEVER , NEVER thought anyone from DIANA 's side would be .
ONCE again.........Lady Diana Frances Spencer became Princess Diana and MOTHER, MOTHER , not mistress, not, w()*& to the ROYAL HEIRS PW and PH.
The child has Diana's name . The child be be baptized where Diana was ....PW keeps , much to the anger of many, keeps throwing in references to his mother.
The baby will grown into her own self, life, likeness, style, education, etc. and will NOT be Diana #2. I do not think having her named after Diana will hinder her from being herself. Same as for being named Elizabeth.
First name of Diana or Elizabeth would have been hard on the child.
I told the other time, some spencer and Tom

I've read that Aunt Sarah is the one Spencer member that the brothers are close with. IMO this is a nice mix of Spencer/Middleton and long time friends. After George's Godparents were named, I had a feeling that aunt and uncles were never in the running to be chosen for the role.

I love those kind of prams! George was very good😄
I thought Kate looked very nice, (liked the hat) as did the Queen (love the rose pink) and Camilla, in spite of a bit of a fraught moment there! William seemed cheerful, George inquisitive and lively. Charlotte wasn't happy, was she? They should stop dressing George as William no. 2, however. It's rather strange.

Maybe a bit off subject....signs of PG totally bewildered, thrown off, scared, but press. HE HAS BEEN EXPOSED to the press TWO times in his life: Going to the hospital to see the baby and his mom.
This time.
He is totally scared. YES, for any toddler to be snapped at, hearing even silent or low snaps/shutters, and
seeing all those people all looking at him , and some calling his name, even in low whispers, IS ODD.
As baby, he was not bothered on the Australia tour. NOW as a TODDLER, he is more aware. He does not know this, does not like it, is scared, etc.
It is only going to get worst because he is NOT going to be really exposed to that lifestyle of his untilllllll....oh E dies and PC dies and then he will be maybe 15 yrs. old.

Kate could have walk carrying char in her arm instead of that baby carriage because of the hills slope and stairs, this will give the people chance to see her face since they have been waiting for hours. I doubt they will be any more photo after the services, they would have their car services to take them home from the church.
I wish they could take a advise from the Sweden, Denmark, Norway Royal about how to handle christening services. :orchid:
I think using the pram is better for a long walk rather than carry an infant with K in heels walking over pebbles, slopes, etc.

I agree. Hopefully it will last throughout the service too. Looks like all of the ladies are in light pastel or cream shades today. Camilla battled the breeze, but I did like that shade of light blue on her today. Kate's hair looked very good IMHO. I think placing Charlotte in the pram was a good idea because it is a bit of a walk from the big house to the church. Safer for baby than being carried by mum who is in heels. IMO.

Adorable photos of Charlotte and George. :vday2: I think Charlotte resembles George and I think George resembles the Middletons, so it could be possible that Charlotte could resemble Kate.
It's nice that Andrew and Edward's pram has been used today, but I wonder why Charlotte was in a pram and George wasn't? It would have been particularly nice for the crowds if Charlotte were held by Kate instead of pushed by Kate.
George's outfit is also too old fashioned for my tastes, but it fits in with the way the British royal children are traditionally dressed. Apparently it's by Rachel Riley, a designer which has been seen on Lady Louise Windsor and Princess Isabella of Denmark.
I like the godparents list, but it's a shame there were no royal godparents, however perhaps William and Kate felt that it wasn't necessary to have royal godparents since she already has Charles and William to advise herwith royal related stuff.
I find the clothes thing creepy rn. She went out of her way to recreate the outfit William wore, why are British royals like this?
Kate looked very old today :notamused: everything was nice and it aged her too much.
What was Pippa wearing? :(
I hope as Charlotte grows up Kate doesn't put her in Diana clothes from the 70's...eww.

(VIDEOS) A Princess is Christened. | The Royal Correspondent (http://royalcorrespondent.com/2015/07/05/videos-a-princess-is-christened/)
The Cambridges are such a beautiful family. George is a royal child, and he is dressed like it. His clothes come from a boutique in London, so there are plenty of other aristocratic families who dress their sons that way. There aren't but 2-3 boys in the European royal families, so we aren't used to seeing little boys in formal clothes.
ALL men's formal clothes are pretty old-fashioned, including morning coats, tuxedos, and velvet shoes. I have to say that hats on men and women look pretty old-fashioned to my American eyes, but it's OK with me. Everyone has different ideas of what someone should wear to church for a christening, but George was dressed appropriately. Even some of my friends have had their grandchildren wear smocked clothing to weddings, including smocked shirts for little boys.
Kate looked lovely and very, very elegant in Alexander McQueen. Why do you think she looks old? If she were wearing a short patterned outfit, some would say she wasn't properly dressed for a royal church christening. Let's face it, she will never please some people.
Ok. AND NOW, not to be a negative, but this couple want, demand and get their utmost, privacy and that is number one for them.
Makes me no difference since I am not a citizen of their country.
HOWEVER, the usual official picture of the baby, sitting upright, parents ...no.
Not for this couple.
PC, a newborn must have her privacy in order to develop and have a normal childhood.
All of the pictures, none of the baby . The pram. The pic of the baby lying in the pram...no. You cannot see her.
They did not, probably won't release a pic to the public /media of them with their two kids from today.
This couple do not believe in allowing their kids out in public too much and only some, VERY FEW still pictures too.
WoW!!!!
The uniform shows class. Class in the class system.
K -yes. Chic. Modern. Rich.
I can see that not because of the press or public but merely because of W and K Charlotte will always be associated with Diana. George idk why they put him in those pretentious clothes but whatever.
"It seems that different forms of ambition are hard wired into almost all of us. At a baptism our ambitions are rightly turned into hopes and prayers for the child, today for Princess Charlotte. Everyone wants something for their children. At our best we seek beauty, not necessarily of form, but of life.
In the reading from Matthew 18, Jesus is trying to turn one kind of ambition, an ambition for place and prestige, into an ambition for a beautiful life. To be great in the Kingdom of Heaven, he tells his very pushy disciples, is not about position but about beauty of life, a life that looks like his, and his example is someone unimportant in those days, a child.
Amongst Princess Charlotte's own ancestors, now buried in the Holy Land, is a saint, the Grand Duchess Elizabeth, whose life was one of transparent beauty and death one of beautiful courage and service. In her life she forgave the man who killed her husband. At her cruel murder she continued to care for those suffering with her. It is of such beauty that Jesus speaks when he talks of being great in the Kingdom of Heaven.
Such beauty of character begins with baptism, and is established in the habits of following and loving Jesus Christ, habits to be learned from parents and God parents, and the whole community of the church.
Beauty is the implied prayer of the baptism service, beauty of life which brings true and eternal greatness. In such times as ours, those who suffer, such as the wounded or bereaved in Tunisia and other places, need lives of beauty around them, lives that share healing and hope, offering to all around them, both in times of light and darkness, a vision of a Christ filled future."
— The homily given by His Grace The Lord Archbishop of Canterbury at the baptism of Her Royal Highness Princess Charlotte of Cambridge.
So beautiful :vday2: :Jen:
It is a great homily and it was lovely that the Archbishop mentioned the saintly Grand Duchess Elizabeth. I'm sure Prince Philip appreciated it.

I have to say- I have two daughters and we have never turned up to weddings, christenings etc in outfits that match in colour or style. I haven't nothing against magnolia, though it's not a shade I would choose (I've always been very fond of bright colours.) However, the Middleton family trio turning up in it is a bit puzzling, as is George's retro outfit, proclaiming him to be both royal and a copy of William. Next time there's a family occasion I hope to see George in something non-reminiscent of the 1940s/1980's and the Middleton females not looking like theyve decided on some sort of weird bonding experience.
I can't understand why dress all the same, is weird and a childhood behaviour, not surprise they are the Midds

As a royal godparent is there to help provide religious guidance, so the idea Prince Harry may be selected is infintestimal .Lady Sarah Mc, one of Diana's sisters may be chosen and possibly James Middleton...with Phillipa as one of the Baby Princess' names. Kate may chose one or more of her close friends like Trini Foyle or Alice Avenal or Hannah Carter. Then there's Jecca, Lady Nathash and James Meade. As well as Tom van Straubensee , Sam Whaley Cohen and the another of the van Cutsems. As well as other Spencer cousins, like Viscount Louis. Lady Helen Taylor has some lovely children as well.
IMHO it's a personal decision that parents must make. Traditionally providing religious guidance and supporting the Godchild has been part of the role. However I do know couples who are not religious or really even believers appointing Godparents for their children.
Whomever is requested to fill the role is likely not to be from a foreign royal family but a close friend IMO.
Golly, I named 4 out of the 5 ! !
Before anyone asks if I have direct insider information ( again ) I' ll just advise for no one to be so hasty with their empty & TOTALLY misinformed denials next time I comment.🎂🏰
Quite so, TLLK. Those who wish to redefine the basic purpose of godparents are far short of the mark.
When the third child is born it shall still be rather unlikely. Harry shall be chosen even though his Uncle Andy is one of his godparents.
The Middletons have always attended a Protestant Church, just not the C of E. Some of them are Catholic as well.⭐🌠
Can private bodyguards, like Richard Branson's bear arms?

I gotta laugh at George's and the nanny's outfits ... Willy only pretends to be oh so normal and modern ...
At times he wears raggedy jeans & wholy jumpers but a royal christening is defined by tradition, not William.😉
Well the Testino pics are on the way soon

I think they are very nice, but then I guess I would, wouldn't I? :hehe:
The pictures are ok. No close shots of the baby sitting up with PK holding her while sitting down to support the baby's head and body.
You cannot tell who , what she looks like.
see the daily mail today for the Testino pics.
UGH, Camilla ...the brightest smile... was the winner..."HA I , MEW, QUEEN CAMILLA to be, STAND HERE WITH DIANA'S CHILDREN AND GRADNCHILDREN. I WON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!""
I prefer Testino's photographs from Charlotte's christening over George's. Both lovely in their own way but I believe Mr. Testino seems to put everyone at ease and coaxes beautiful expressions from all.

These would be just a small sampling of the photos that Mr. Testino took on Sunday so we won't know what other groupings were taken ie: Queen with Charlotte, Charles/Camilla with baby etc.. Still I have a feeling that we'll see a framed private photo of Charlotte's christening in a group of pictures next to HM in her Christmas address or in an interview with Charles some time in the future. :)
I think they're lovely pictures. I like the one where George is smiling in his father's arms. Charlotte is a beautiful baby, looks as if she has dark eyes like her brother! The whole lot were smiling broadly in the group shot, and looked happy. Terrific! (I'm a sugar for babies and small children!)
Something horrible has happened ... they have discovered their children are good PR tools whenever they mess up they will be used ... as someone else said of course those pictures were going to be published after Wimbledon ...

Must agree with Curryong as the Nanny is quite proud of her formal education at Norland College and wanted to reflect it the first official chance she got...did the college offer her some sort of compensation for the brilliant publicity? Who knows but William and Kate would respect the wishes of their Nanny.
Kate and the staff at Getty are better photographers than Testino. I particularly admire the work of Chris Jackson and Mary Turner, who put Mario in the shade. Mario's interpretations look more like cardboard cut outs...and very much altered. The photographs Kate takes are natural and better lit. I recall when Testino did those infamous pics of Diana that many people didn't even recognize her. If only Snowden or Beaton were still available..both of who knew how to interpret the joy of such occasions. Of course the pics taken by Michael Middleton were quite good as well.

The lighting is not very good and the photoshop is excessive. Testino is not as good as he thinks...
The christening photos are nice but there's too much photoshop in the one of William, Kate, George and Charlotte in the garden. My favourite is the one of Kate and Charlotte.

^^I like the pictures but after looking at them some more I'm really disliking the fact that a professional photographer should find it necessary to use Photoshop on each in such a massive way. The group photo and the one of Kate with Charlotte in her arms are done to death and the baby seems huge in the latter. I wish they had just used a well-known and experienced family and portrait photographer and forgot about this Diana connection.
^^^IMO they chose Mario Testino because he'd photographed the brothers years before and developed some relationship with them as a photographer. He was selected to do the engagement photographs as well. IMO they like his work and he had an opening in his date book for the christening.
However it would be interesting if Lord Snowden were behind the camera again for another family event. Does anyone know if he still is working as a photographer?

^^ I don't think so. He is now in his mid-80's and wheelchair bound. He is still seen around London though, and there was an Exhibition of his photographs at the National Gallery, which ended in June.
Testino?s portrait of William and Kate is a sickly sweet lie | Jonathan Jones | Comment is free | The Guardian (http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2015/jul/09/mario-testino-portrait-william-kate-children?CMP=share_btn_tw)
Quote
Today, royal portraiture is openly deceitful. Testino famously photographed Diana, but his pictures of her tell nothing about the anguish and the sorrow of her story.
Children are not jewels. They are forces of nature. Where's the reality of childhood in these plastic fantastic visual lies executed by a master of fake truth? Why on earth do the royal family need to put out such sickening PR nonsense? It is no way to start a childhood, presented on a platter to the world by a three-star chef of sickly sweet pictorial cuisine.
The Cambridges have become too valuable to royal publicity to be allowed to be real. They are turning into living lies – the impossibly perfect people with their impossibly perfect children. Please, let them be human. From the widely reviled National Portrait Gallery painting of the Duchess of Cambridge to Testino's glitz, their image is becoming so banal in its perfections that soon the picture must crack. No one really looks like this, no life is so unblemished. Let's have some honest royal art instead of waiting to expose the pain that was airbrushed out. Again.
well well - good commentary - really does capture the problem with these pics and the way the golden couple is portrayed.
All too perfect. Had just looked at the Monaco royals - Albert's tenth anniversary. Now they are a handsome lot that family but also rather scandal prone. But the pics of the day are very nice - not photoshopped beyond belief -
Not attempting to make people look artificially perfect. Even given their dysfunctional family reputation - they hug they kiss they get tears in their eyes - they seem real.

TBH I believe that Charlene has truly come into her own as the Princess Consort of Monaco and her recent photos at the baptism/anniversary were proof of this happening.
It seems all went well without a hitch. Can´t wait to see Charlotte walking.

It all depends on William's engagements. IMO it may well be Sandringham again but with less publicity this time and probably July. The Middletons present plus godparents. If it runs into late July/August the Queen may not be present as it takes an earthquake to get her away from Balmoral in August and September.
I think that we'll see a similar pattern of Louis' Godparents being: Maternal/Paternal first cousins, Kate/William's school friends, perhaps a former mentor/courtier.
They seem determined not to have a sibling most likely because IMO should anything happen to Louis' parents, their aunt and uncles will be more involved in the care for the Cambridge children.
As for the timing, there is also the Queen's and Charles' schedules to consider before a date will be announced. :) I do believe it will be in the summer and either in London or at Sandringham.

If baby Louis is baptised north of the border it would have to be under the rites of the Church of Scotland. That's doubtful, IMO.

Kept underwraps till morning of christened on July 9 but George had seven godparents when he christening in October 2013 and Charlotte had five godparents in July 2015 anyway the couples would ruled five godparents for Louis but NOT seven godparents like George I don?t think great-aunts will be godparents would be ruled!
They generally pick people in their circle and a cousin or two. Might be four or five godparents this time. Perhaps Eugenie might get a gig? Or one of the Wessexes. I'd suggest Louise but she's not old enough.

Meghan Markle Probably Won't Be Louis' Godmother (https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/meghan-markle-probably-won-apos-142700579.html)
Quote"As with George and Charlotte, [William and Kate] chose close and trusted friends and aides, rather than immediate family members, and the odds suggest that will be the same with little Prince Louis," Jessica Bridge, of British bookmakers Ladbrokes, said in a statement, according to People.
Some of the top contenders include William and Harry?s former assistant and nanny Tiggy Pettifer, with 2/1 odds, and William?s outgoing private secretary and close friend Miguel Head, with 5/4 odds. Also on the shortlist are William?s stepsister Laura Lopes (the daughter of Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall), with 3/1 odds, and Kate's former private secretary, Rebecca Priestley, with 4/1 odds.
If the Cambridge's pattern of selecting close friends and former assistants as their children's Godparents, then i do believe that these are likely choices: Tiggy Pettifer, Miguel Head, Laura Lopes and Rebecca Priestly. Possibly one of the Windsor/Spencer/Middleton cousins could be in the running: ie: Peter Phillips
Prince Louis christening: New details revealed ? and it's a change from Prince George and Princess Charlotte's (https://us.hellomagazine.com/royalty/2018062549725/prince-louis-christening-details-different-to-george-charlotte/)
16:00 means (4pm) in London start christening not morning christening than George and Charlotte who christening in morning
QuotePrince Louis is set to get christened next month at the same chapel as his older brother Prince George, but new details released on Monday have revealed that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have broken tradition with their third child when it comes to timings. Unlike George and Princess Charlotte, who got baptised in the morning, Louis' christening will take place at 16:00 on 9 July. The statement released by Kensington Palace read: "The service will begin at 4pm and will last approximately 40 minutes." Louis will be baptised when he is 11 weeks old, and it will be the first time the public will catch a glimpse of him since his birth in April.
QuoteThe afternoon service will take place at Chapel Royal at St James's Palace will see many members of the royal family in attendance, including the Queen, Prince Charles, the Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Kate's family are also expected to be there, including parents Carole and Michael Middleton, her younger brother James and her younger sister Pippa, who is pregnant with her first baby with husband James Matthews.
QuoteLouis' christening will be the first time the Cambridge family will be seen out together as a family-of-five, and the date coincidentally falls a week after George and Charlotte break up from school and nursery for the summer holidays. Following the service, it is likely that William and Kate will enjoy the start of their summer, splitting their time between their London residence and Anmer Hall in Sandringham. They will no doubt also spend some time with the Middletons in Bucklebury.
QuoteBets are currently being placed on who Louis' godparents will be, with William's soon-to-be former private secretary, Miguel Head, predicted favourite as godfather, with Ladbrokes slashing his odds from 2/1 to 5/4 in recent weeks. Harry and William's former nanny, Tiggy Pettifier ? formerly Tiggy Legge-Bourke, is also in the running, with odds at 2/1.
QuotePrince Louis made a much-anticipated arrival into the world on 23 April, and was introduced to adoring crowds gathered outside the Lindo Wing of St Mary's Hospital in London at just a few hours old, in his mother's arms. A lip reader revealed to the Mirror afterwards that William had asked his wife, "Are you ok with him?" to which Kate replied with a smile, "Yes." Four days after his birth, William and Kate announced Louis' name, revealing his official royal moniker to be Prince Louis Arthur Charles.

Why Prince Louis' christening will have extra significance for the Queen (https://us.hellomagazine.com/royalty/2018062649731/prince-louis-christening-special-queen-prince-philip/)
When young Queen and Philip got engaged same day of christening July 9,1947 says 71 years ago
QuoteThere is no doubt that Prince Louis' christening will be a special day for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and the whole royal family, but even more so for the Queen and Prince Philip ? for one very special, and romantic reason. The Prince's big day, which falls on Monday 9 July, will be the exact same day that the monarch and her husband announced their engagement in 1947, exactly 71 years ago.
Despite having been privately engaged for nearly a year, the then-Princess Elizabeth and Philip Mountbatten officially announced their wedding on Wednesday 9 July 1947 and posed for the most adorable photos at Buckingham Palace.

George had godparents of Zara Philip-Tindall when he christening October 2013
Charlotte had godparents and no member of royal family in godparents but Kate chosen one of Middleton Family member godparents at Charlotte?s christening in July 2015
QuotePrince George was baptised by the Archbishop of Canterbury in the Chapel Royal at St James's Palace on 23 October 2013, with Oliver Baker, Emilia Jardine-Paterson, Earl Grosvenor, Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, the Hon. Julia Samuel, William van Cutsem and Zara Tindall serving as godparents.
QuoteOn 5 July 2015, Princess Charlotte was baptised by the Archbishop of Canterbury at St. Mary Magdalene Church, Sandringham. Her godparents are her parents' cousins the Hon. Laura Fellowes and Adam Middleton, and family friends Thomas van Straubenzee, James Meade, and Sophie Carter.
Most likely they'll keep to the same pattern of no siblings and HRH's but close friends or former advisors. :)

A few quibbles. Kate should have worn a pastel shade for a change. and gotten a hat that did not look like it was from the sixties. Something like a fancy bathing cap.
Pippa's gown was ill fitting.

It was interesting to learn that Prince Louis' christening cake is a tier of cake taken from his parents' wedding cake.
And very delicious it would be too, I'm sure, with some brandy soaked into it occasionally. However, I think you probably have to be British to appreciate it! :P
QEII and PP , not there. Yes, this is a most impt family event f for them,,,,,but QE and PP are in their 90s.
I think , again, it is telling, about their age.
QE is still very healthy, but......
Everyone looked great.
K, the mother, always wears white, off white, dark cream for her children?s christenings.
No Parker Bowels for godparents.
(I printed something here, but deleted it . I am being good )
Baby 3, way less media and everything. G is the heir. C was the girl. L, number .
PC, oh boy. Or we should say, Oh girl.
QEII, mixed with Carole and Diana.....you get a Princess Charlotte.
Someone pointed out on another forum that the Queen didn't attend Isla Phillips' christening either, six years ago. I just think it's nothing for anyone to get upset about.
The Queen was probably absolutely drained after those ceremonies in Scotland, wearing heavy robes in the heat, etc. She wanted to just put her feet up for a couple of days, IMO, before the RAF thing today and Trump's arrival later in the week. I suppose she's going to invite him to lunch.
And really, if Prince Philip doesn't want to move from Sandringham to go to a roasting London he shouldn't have to. That's what he retired for, at nearly 100 years old. so he could live the last few years of his life away from the hustle and bustle.Quite a few people in Britain, if they have somewhere else to go, escape the city at this time of year anyway.
^^^I agree
@Curryong. On top of the heat, upcoming POTUS visit and now QEII found out that Boris Johnson is retiring from his cabinet role during the Brexit negotiations. IMO her grandson and his family would understand why she needed a bit of a break. :)

Thank you for sharing the links. When I came to the group photos, it is clear to see that some color coordination was done to compliment and balance the photo much like with the recent Sussex wedding photos. The family in shades of blue, cream (Kate, Louis, Camilla, George's shirt) and olive (Meghan) make for a harmonious group photo. Little Louis in the replica gown becomes the focal point. Angela Kelly must have tea dyed the lace and fabric to keep in close in color to the original.
I don't like the airbrushed photo. I think Louis will have CHarlotte's same hair color.
Awww just realized that Charlotte is holding Louis' hand in the Windsor group photo. :vday2:

Beautiful photos. I think Louis is a very pretty baby, and George and Charlotte are very cute especially where Charlotte is holding Louis's hand. Kate is in love with her new little one. You can see the bond!

HM Queen and Prince Philip not attend Louis?s christening
Philip didn't attend because he was at Romsey Abbey with the Brabournes, acting as godfather to baby Hooper, the son of Alexandra Hooper, Penny Romsey's daughter at his christening ceremony. I think it's a strange decision to ask a 97 year old (and one in indifferent health) to act as a godparent to an infant. Godparents are expected to act as mentors to their godchildren throughout life, looking after their spiritual welfare and wellbeing. As it is, this little boy will probably scarcely remember Prince Philip, unless, against the odds, Philip lives to be 120 or something!
Of course it's a great honour, and shows how close the Windsors are to this branch of the (Mountbatten) family. Personally I think Philip's status as godfather is a huge nod to his long and very close relationship with Lady Brabourne, Penny Romsey, a once deserted and neglected wife! I think after Philip's death and the Queen's, quite a bit of information might leak about Philip's affairs, especially with Penny.
That doesn't explain the Queen's absence of course. Elizabeth has long since adapted to Philip and Penny's relationship, and was at the Hooper wedding last year with Philip, Charles and Camilla, assorted Greek royals and Sophia of Spain. Charles gave Alexandra away. So perhaps she just couldn't be bothered going to yet another great-grandchild's christening. Perhaps she travelled down to Romsey Abbey to stay, herself. Who knows!
For some reason Louis reminds me of Prince Andrew when he was a baby.
@sandy-I agree that he has a resemblance to Andrew. IMO it's his rounder face/head.
