I don?t think the Sussexes have been joined by the Royal Press pack on this tour. I read on that other forum that two photographers from the British Press are with them and one Express correspondent, not London based. A low-key response for a low key couple. Nobody really bothers about the Wessexes, perhaps unfairly, maybe because neither has charisma, a really vibrant personality or the spotlight of more senior royals.

The Royal Press likely spent most of their Caribbean budget with the Cambridges' tour and as you mentioned the couple do not tend to receive the coverage that the younger royals do.

As the Earl and Countess of Wessex continued their royal tour of the Caribbean, day two brought a mixture of two things that you wouldn?t think go together, parrots and cricket.

The Earl met Commonwealth Games athletes as he watched a race held in honour of the Platinum Jubilee and a T10 women?s cricket match at Arnos Vale Playing Field. While at the match he presented the trophy to the winners, the Montreal Gardens Bloomers. He also presented medals to the Balliceaux Warriors team who participated in the event.

While on their way to Gibraltar, their plane was forced to make an emergency landing.

A royal flight carrying Prince Edward and his wife was forced to make an emergency landing at Heathrow Airport en route to Gibraltar after technical issues. The couple were scheduled to arrive there today but has been delayed, according to local media in Gibraltar, "as a precaution".

The aircraft with Prince Edward and Sophie, Countess of Wessex, landed normally at Heathrow and a replacement aircraft is expected to take the flight.

The trip to Gibraltar has been controversial as Spain claims the area as their own territory, with the situation being heightened as a result of Brexit travel rules. The current situation is the subject of talks, but Spain's Foreign Ministry is said to be uneasy at the visit, arguing that it "is not appropriate".

Speaking to GBC News, a news organisation based in Gibraltar, British Airways said that the pilots "decided to return to Heathrow as a precaution due to a minor technical issue, and the aircraft landed normally". They added that they were arranging for a replacement aircraft to operate the flight.

The Earl of Wessex will honour a longstanding commitment to visit Estonia and Germany later today in his role as Royal Colonel of 2nd Battalion The Rifles and Royal Honorary Colonel of the Royal Wessex Yeomanry.
During the two-day visit he will thank them for her service to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth during her time as Commander-in-Chief, and their commitment to The King as Head of the Armed Forces.
