Yes, I saw a video, the crowd control barrier, rather than fans with cellphones clicking for pictures, and flag waving, Prince William, Royal Navy members, Politicians were received by peace/anti war supporters.

On another note, William has a new pin in his lapel/jacket, 50 year RN anniversary.

Must have been quite the shock for William. But there's always the chance of royals being booed.

Prince William Was Booed at Ceremony to Honor Submarine Service | PEOPLE.com

@sara8150 - The protesters were there because of the RN's policy of having at least one submarine on patrol equipped with a nuclear weapon. The were anti-nuclear protestors. The  new Minister of Defense was one of the targets for their protests. As the Commodore of the Submarines, I'm not surprised that he'd receive a less than warm reception from them.

From the People article.

QuoteSince April 1969, at least one U.K. submarine carrying nuclear missiles has been on patrol.

Prince William gave a reading from the Bible, and Dean of Westminster John Hall told those gathered, ?We pray that the Royal Navy may never be required to deploy these terrible forces in war and that they may continue to deter their use by others,? according to the Washington Post.

Outside Westminster Abbey, however, hundreds of protestors had gathered to denounce the service.

Members of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND) chanted ?shame on you? as Prince William arrived alongside Penny Mordaunt, in her first official engagement as defense secretary, the BBC reports
.

Yes, I'm not surprised that those associated with the UK's defense and the RN's Submarine fleet would be the target of anti-nuclear protesters. It comes with the territory.

Quoteo mark 50 years of Continuous At Sea Deterrent, a Dreadnought-class submarine will be named after King George VI. George VI was Queen Elizabeth?s father. He was not expected to be King. But ascended the throne after his older brother abdicated after less then a year as King.

Great article! There are folks all over the world who protest for peace, and it's a very old issue. I think we are all for peace and we also are all aware that the argument is how to ensure it, and would expect anti-nuclear protests.  I'm sure the Prince was briefed and expected the protests, but he knew what the true purpose of the service was and wanted to be there.

Prince William and Kate Middleton cancel annual tradition for the first time since marrying | HELLO!

QuoteThe Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will not mark St Patrick's Day publicly with a military engagement, as they have done in previous years. Prince William and Kate traditionally attend a parade on the Sunday before 17 March and hand out shamrocks to army personnel, but HELLO! understands that the 1st Battalion Irish Guards are currently deployed in Iraq and South Sudan, so there was no plan to actually hold the event this year. William is Colonel of the Irish Guards, and the parade is an opportunity for all Irish Guards, serving, retired, or aspirational, to come together in celebration and honour their regimental and cultural traditions.

Princess Cassandra

May their deployment in Iraq and Africa be successful and safe.

QuoteIn the absence of the annual #StPatricksDay Parade with the @IrishGuards (as the majority of the Regiment are on deployment overseas 🌍), of which The Duke of Cambridge has been Colonel since 2011, we?re sharing more on where the Irish Guards will be working this St Patrick?s Day:

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge
@KensingtonRoyal

Following the atrocities experienced in the concentration camps in 1945, a group of 300 child Holocaust survivors came here, to the Lake District, to heal from the trauma of their childhood experiences.

This group of children were called the 'Windermere Children'. I wanted to be able to meet some of the survivors Ike & Arek in person to hear their stories; about how they went on to create their own companies, write a book & to this day, still sneak in the odd round of golf.

It was so powerful to hear how their time in the Lakes enjoying outdoor recreation, sport and art therapy, allowed them to be able to begin to rebuild their lives and eventually, their families here in the UK.
