Title: Current and Former British Royal Staff members Part 2
Post by: Curryong on October 19, 2021, 04:00:13 AM
Welcome to Part 2 of the thread to discuss the former staff for the members of the British Royal Family

BP and KP both picked up several Sussex staffers after Harry and Meghan left. That doesn?t mean however that Amy loathed working for Meghan. In fact we know she didn?t, as she turned up to the Fashion Pod event hosted by Meghan after her own departure.

And it?s reasonably common for many people to change their minds at short notice about living and working abroad. In fact that happened to me when a girlfriend bailed barely two weeks before we were due to sail to Australia. Also, friends of mine several years ago were all ready to take up a job in LA when the husband, who had been head hunted and newly hired, got cold feet because of leaving his teenage children. In fact  I?ve heard of that sort of sudden change of mind a lot.

And it doesn?t say here that Amy was planning to work and live abroad at all, merely that she was going to do some travelling in 2019.

Where in my previous post did I say that I believed that Amy left the post of Maghan?s PS to go abroad for work? In fact I said the opposite, and the article I put as a link stated the same. Neither the article nor myself stated that Amy had left London to work in any other country. If you read the article linked it said she was looking forward to some travel in the future. You can travel and vacation abroad without taking employment there.

No names of persons employed by the Sussexes and supposedly part of the complaint of bullying by Meghan have ever been put out in the public arena, by Valentine Low, Jason Knauf or anyone else.

Would you care to link any such article that has been published naming any names? And it is extremely doubtful indeed that any such people will be named after the Inquiry is over, as the focus and emphasis appears to be to build structures in the Palaces for the future, not rake over alleged incidents that would be about three years old in 2022/23.

I couldn?t care less what Richard M said or didn?t say about Kate?s waist. And the Twitter mob are for ever on the rampage over something. They are almost as bad as Fail commenters, with many probably the same people. If Piers Morgan attacks people that is fine I suppose.

And if you didn?t believe that I said that she worked abroad in my post why then post the woman?s entire employment history in your reply? Not much point as I hadn?t mentioned any of it in my post.

For the record. Although there is a tiny gap from March 2019, when all the Sussex left over employees were severed (payment) from the job to her starting date with MH institution in August 2019.

I am glad though she was rehired by William, Jan 2020.  It's his project under the Royal Foundation umbrella. She has posted all the work done via her linkedin, so she seems quite proud of it.

Well the DF?s own RR had a very different take on Amy Pickerell?s leaving, so below is either the truth from Rebecca English, or as usual none of these RRs know what they are talking about.

Why Amy Pickerill, Meghan Markle's Top Royal Aide, Is Quitting (https://www.marieclaire.com/celebrity/a26771488/meghan-markle-top-royal-aide-amy-pickerill-leaving-reason/)

One might ask, if Amy (who was Assistant PS, not a PA) was so traumatised by working for Meghan it?s a wonder she turned up after her employment ended for the fashion pod event. Plus Knauf gave evidence on Meghan?s behalf in her court case against the newspaper group early this year, curious behaviour if he disliked her so much.

Once again, the bullying allegations are just that, unproven. And, once more, nobody has ever been named in the public sphere. .

Incidentally, if you look,at Amy?s employment history there is a consistent pattern of one to two years employment in each job. Hardly long years of sticking to one thing.

Eventually 'some' mysteries are solved.  I don't think this one will be, BP Bullying thread, financial end year, some changes or not to the HR Management rules and reg.

Her CV is consistent climbing up the ladder (enter glassdoor, place each position she's had from the beginning to the latest 'director', salary earnings...says the story). This means she is good at work and very likely 99% sure has leadership.

I think Amy is very lucky to work and have face to face access with William Hague/Prince William with this secured 10 year project.

Prince Charles' top aide quits: Pressure of ongoing inquiry leads to shock resignation | Daily Mail Online (https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10193019/Prince-Charles-aide-quits-Pressure-ongoing-inquiry-leads-shock-resignation.html#comments)

Fawcett the Fence, long time aide to Prince Charles, has resigned all his posts with Prince Charles/Clarence House in the wake of the cash for access scandal, the Inquiry for which has not yet ended. He is described as ?a shadow of his former self?. Like Charles?s other mate Nicholas ?Fatty? Soames,  Fawcett prided himself on dressing the same way as Charles and adopting the same gestures. It would be sad if it wasn?t so laughable. Anyway, Charles, who undoubtedly knew what was going on with the scandal, has one potential future troublemaker gone.

https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/princes-charless-top-aide-michael-fawcett-quits-charity-amid-honours-inquiry-ts0z0s2m9

QuoteThe Prince of Wales?s right-hand man and the head of his charity has resigned amid a ?cash for honours? inquiry, it emerged last night.

Michael Fawcett has resigned as chief executive of The Prince?s Foundation after questions were raised in the autumn about the awarding of a CBE to Mahfouz Marei Mubarak bin Mahfouz, a Saudi billionaire, in 2016.

It was alleged that Mahfouz had sent thousands of pounds to fixers with links to the Prince of Wales on assurances that he could receive the honour. Mahfouz denies wrongdoing. Fawcett, who had been accused of offering to help secure a knighthood and British citizenship, was said to be ?heartbroken and shattered?.

Fawcett's replacement is to be the woman who has been filling in during his absence Emily Anne Cherrington.

The working mother entrusted with Charles' charity amid donor scandal | Daily Mail Online (https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10195239/The-working-mother-entrusted-Charles-charity-amid-donor-scandal.html)

QuoteThe woman standing in for Michael Fawcett at the Prince's Foundation following his resignation is a working mother-of-two described as a 'safe pair of hands'.

Emily Anne Cherrington, 38, has been acting chief executive of the Dumfries House-based organisation since Mr Fawcett temporarily stepped down in early September.

It comes after reports that Charles's ex-valet Mr Fawcett offered to help a billionaire Saudi donor to the prince's charity secure a knighthood and British citizenship.

Mrs Cherrington is married to husband James with whom she has a son and a daughter, and they live in the Leicestershire town of Market Harborough.

She has been with the charity for more than four years, having joined in May 2017 as senior deputy executive director and then being appointed COO in January 2020.

She is said to be a 'safe pair of hands' and sources at the Prince's Foundation told MailOnline she would 'continue' in this role while an investigation is carried out.

The confirmation comes after 59-year-old Mr Fawcett, who was Charles's right-hand man, dramatically quit last night over the 'cash for honours' inquiry.

Part 2 of news and discussion about Current and Former BRF Staff members

Sadly in a hard year, the queen has suffered another loss.

Fortune Fitzroy, Dowager Duchess of Grafton died at 101 on Friday. Fortune was the queen's mistress of the robes since 1967, and lady of the bed chamber before that from 1953. She was appointed mistress of the robes while still a countess, a role usually held by a duchess.

Fortune FitzRoy, Duchess of Grafton | The Royal Watcher (https://royalwatcherblog.com/2021/12/04/fortune-fitzroy-duchess-of-grafton/)

She was related to the Queen Mother. The queen mum's paternal grandmother was the Frances Smith, 6th of 7 kids of Oswald and Mildred Smith. Oswald and Mildred's third child Edward was the great-great grandfather of Fortune.

In October 1946 she married Hugh Fitzroy, at the time the Earl of Euston, later 11th Duke of Grafton. Her husband died in 2011.

The couple had five children, but since their eldest son died in 2009, the 12th duke is the couple's grandson.

She is survived by her 4 children as well as 9 grandchildren and at least 3 great-grandchildren (the current Duke has 3).

Don?t know whether this post is OK here or not.

Harry issues a statement about The Times linking him to the Cash for Honours scandal in a recent article.

A spokesperson for the Duke of Sussex has released a statement following a new report linking him to Mahfouz Marei Mubarak bin Mahfouz, the Saudi billionaire whom an investigation concluded last week had donated money to Prince Charles' foundation in exchange for a CBE honour.

Prince Harry speaks out as Prince Charles' cash-for-honours scandal grows | Channel (https://www.news24.com/channel/gossip/royal-news/prince-harry-speaks-out-as-prince-charles-cash-for-honours-scandal-grows-20211206)

It is disappointing that The Sunday Times, knowing all the facts, has chosen to encourage speculation by being deliberately vague to try to create a falsified link between The Duke of Sussex and the CBE scandal, of which he had no knowledge or involvement," the statement reads.

"The Duke and his advisors, as well as his nonprofit Sentebale, severed ties with Mr Mahfouz and his associates in 2015, no longer accepting further donations to Sentebale and discontinuing any plans for a fundraising event amid growing concerns over the motives for his support.

"The Duke had one planned meeting with this donor nearly eight years ago, did not introduce him to any members of the Royal Family, and expressed his concerns about the donor."

The Duke of Sussex released a statement in response to The Times article regarding his former association with the wealthy Saudi donor  Mr. Mahfouz who was named in the PoW's former director Michael Fawcett's firing. Mahfouz had previously donated in 2013 amounts totaling to 50,000 pounds  to Prince Harry's charity Sentebale but he cut ties with him in 2015 over concerns about Mahfouz's suspected motivations for donating to the charity. There has been no link or suggestion that Prince Harry tried to provide access to Mr. Mahfouz to his father or any other member of the BRF.

Prince Harry Disappointed at Being Linked to Crisis Engulfing His Father (https://www.newsweek.com/prince-harry-disappointed-crisis-engulfing-prince-charles-foundation-cash-honors-mahfouz-1656213)

QuotePrince Harry was dragged into the mess after reports in The Sunday Times showed his Sentebale charity also received ?50,000 in 2013.

Harry met Mahfouz Marei Mubarak bin Mahfouz at a pub, posed for photographs and was in discussion about holding a charity auction or thank you dinner which ultimately never took place, the newspaper reported.

The Duke of Sussex came out fighting in a statement from his spokesperson suggesting he raised concerns about the donor. There is no suggestion Harry offered help securing a knighthood or citizenship for Mahfouz.

Both the son and father cut ties with a bad person who was giving cash to charities to cover his shady dealings. Ends.

Many bad people do this, hence it's always good to do background checks.  The Cambridges used to be involved in ARK charity, the last one they attended W said he wanted to make sure about background checks, he did, since then no more yearly ARK.

Background check practice should always be done for personal and work life.

I wholeheartedly agree @wannable that anyone choosing to donate to a charity or organization should take the time to do a preliminary background check. While the BRF and other royals do have staff who are vetting the groups that request a royal patronage, it might be different and difficult to do such a check with individuals who offer to donate to their numerous patronages.

The issue with the Saudi billionaire is still news. Not sure why Harry's PR team decided to make a statement that he had 'warned' his father.  Clarence House replied back saying they have no communication of the alleged warning from H.

I stand with my previous opinion, background checks. Mistakes are made, famous people charities just have to be more careful with whom they associate.

Lady Farnham, who had been the Queen's Lady of Bedchamber since 1987 and rode with the Queen on the way to her Diamond Jubilee service in 2012, died four days after Christmas aged 90. Sadness for The Queen as her close friend and aide, the Lady of the Bedchamber, dies aged 90 ? Royal Central (https://royalcentral.co.uk/uk/queen/sadness-for-the-queen-as-her-close-friend-and-aide-the-lady-of-the-bedchamber-dies-aged-90-170569/)

Quote

The Queen?s Lady of the Bedchamber, Diana, Lady Farnham, has died at the age of 90.

Lady Farnham has been Lady of the Bedchamber to the monarch for over three decades, having been appointed to the senior position in 1987.

She was a close friend of The Queen, and accompanied her on many of her Diamond Jubilee engagements in 2012 in place of Prince Philip when he was hospitalised.

Lady Farnham?s death comes less than a month after the monarch lost another of her ladies-in-waiting, the Duchess of Grafton.

As was the case with Lady Farnham, the Duchess of Grafton was one of The Queen?s most trusted confidants, and her death at the age of 101 last month left a huge void in the Royal Household.

Speaking to the Daily Telegraph, a royal source said: A royal source said: ?It is very sad for the Queen.

?Everyone loved Lady Farnham, she was always so good humoured. She was also a very glamorous and attractive woman.

?It has not been a good year for the Queen ? losing her husband and then the Duchess of Grafton and now Lady Farnham.

?They were dear friends who supported the Queen on official duties.?

Lady Farnham died on 29th December 2021.

I'm very sorry for QEII as she's lost family and long time friends in the past ten years in addition to her husband. I feel as though her world is shrinking especially with the required isolation from the pandemic.

The Duchess of Grafton and Lady Farnham were not only friends of the Queen but family. All three ladies descend from the Smiths of Midhurst. The Duchess and Lady Farnham were the Queen's third cousins.

Not too remote. I still see my third cousins.

This man is absolutely brilliant and it?s a coup to have him working for BP even part time. My theory on his joining the BP team is that one of his main passions are human rights abuses, something coming to the fore in many Commonwealth countries regarding their past and present. If Charles is to address some abuses associated with colonialism and past injustices wrought by the British within the Commonwealth during his reign this man?s advice will be invaluable.

What was all that guff that journalists were coming up with only a couple of days ago about the ladies in waiting remaining to teach the rest of the new staff, Camilla?s Companion?s, their job? Let?s hope the rest of these very elderly women don?t impart their racial and colonial attitudes to those women. Or there will be another blunder in the Palace of monumental proportions!

BTW, Is Charles going to be forced to resign as King because he did more or less exactly the same thing! He asked a woman of colour where she was from when she was waiting in line to see him. When she told him ?Manchester? he sniggered and said something like ?You don?t look like it!? Does William consider that unacceptable as well? If he does, is he going to have a word, lol?

I expect that it was a disappointment to hear about the incident but the responses from BP and KP were the only appropriate ones to offer IMHO. Ultimately Lady Susan made the decision to resign from her position. I've read that Ms Fulnai wishes that LSH hadn't resigned (I believe she used the word dismissed).

My remark about King Charles resigning was a joke, sara. I wasn?t making a serious statement with regard to short reigns.

However, my sentiments regarding what Charles said to that lady in the queue weren?t a joke. I?m not laughing now. And in my opinion people like Lady Susan and King Charles, who are of the same generation and undoubtedly grew up with people around them who held racist views, are going to have to mind their mouths in the future. The world no longer tolerates those sorts of unthinking and patronising remarks to anyone, not only people of colour.

And the WOC concerned in the latest incident apparently spoke on radio the next morning and said that she hadn?t heard from the Palace, neither BP or KP, since it happened, so the statement by a spokesperson about ?reaching out to her and wanting to address things with her are just empty words, typical Palace-speak.

I'm under the impression that Lady Susan Hussey was the one who chose to resign. Most likely because she realized she'd caused enough embarrassment to Ms. Fulani as well as to the Queen Consort as one of her companions. Her daughter,Lady Katherine Brooke, though will continue to remain as one of Camilla's new companions.

Her daughter,Lady Katherine Brooke, though will continue to remain as one of Camilla's new companions.

She may well have chosen to resign. That doesn?t excuse the fact that Lady Susan considered it appropriate to touch Miss Fulani?s hair in order to peer at her name badge, and then proceed to ask her not one but at least four inappropriate questions about her background. As well as burbling about her own completely irrelevant experience of once living in France. Unless you were deaf and blind to all signs of embarrassment from another person nobody would subject someone else to the barrage she did.

And then more or less accuse her of trying to hide her background. ?There, I knew I would get to it! You?re Caribbean!? said this aristocrat who has probably been at Court for far too long. I think the whole conversation from this ex Lady in Waiting was quite disgusting actually.
Title: Re: Current and Former British Royal Staff members Part 2
Post by: TLLK on November 30, 2022, 11:46:30 PM
Now I have read that part of the role for the ladies in waiting was to be the "advance" party for the monarch/consort especially at large gatherings where there could be hundreds of guests ie: Diplomatic Reception. They would circulate ahead of the monarch to gather some additional information on the guests, so that when the monarch/consort arrived at the groupings that they  would have some "conversation starters." This was especially important as very often guests would be overwhelmed and not sure what to say. Then the monarch/consort would come in and ask a relevant question about the guest(s) to help break the ice.

However it is unfortunate that Lady Susan who had years of experience in this role, blundered so badly. She should have never touched Ms. Fulani's hair and should have stopped with her inquiries after Ms. Fulani stated that she was from Hackney. Ms. Fulani's responses certainly [provided enough information for Lady Susan to pass on to the Queen Consort, Countess of Wessex, as well as the other royal ladies in attendance to so they could enter into the conversations with the groups.

IMHO her resignation and apology were the only appropriate actions that could be taken.

And the point of that was?.? (A) It was a young black male asking the question. Not an aristocratic elderly white lady. (B) He just asked people  ?Where are you from?? He didn?t ask any of them a series of increasingly impertinent questions. He didn?t lift their hair to examine any name badges. (C) He didn?t ask them at a formal but private event such as a reception for charity workers at Buckingham Palace, but in front of a camera for all to see. People are much more inclined to take things good humouredly if it?s a smiling young person with a mic asking them one or two questions than in the BP situation.

It is no good people trying to twist things around so that Lady Hussey?s behaviour or incessant questioning of that guest at the Palace was appropriate in any way. How many questions and comments from Lady SH, was it? At least six as first reported.  It wasn?t acceptable. And BP knew it wasn?t. From their point of view it was in fact a PR disaster ready to blow up in the media. Hence the swift response from all concerned.

And hence Lady Susan?s withdrawal from any duties to do with the RF. It was good that she apologised but I do not think IF she is allowed to return to the Palace in the future (doubtful) that she should ever be allowed near any guest who is person of colour at any event there ever again.

Well Prince William very quickly came calling out against racist behaviour, thereby criticising his godmother and he hasn?t apologised for it. So was what he said about Lady Susan abuse and ?using her to get whatever?? He presumably didn?t converse with her beforehand to find out anything before issuing his reproof.

And Lady Susan apologised for her needling questions about Ms Falozi?s background, moving the BP visitor?s hair, peering at her name badge etc. She would hardly be issuing apologies and going to see the woman afterwards for nothing.

QEQM and her sister-in-law Princess Mary were interested in Girl Guiding and signed up Elizabeth and Margaret and a troop was formed at BP.

With a worldwide lockdown, tucked away in Tyler Perry's mansion with T's security, any threat of harm or death non C19 was declared by statistics to drop to 5% taking place in strata 1 area, the most deprived. The C19 killer all stratas.

Normally, one loses all the benefits when quitting a organization.

The US Gov just announced today that by May 2023 the C19 vaccine rules will be eliminated to enter the country.

Thanks for a great article about how HM was a girl scout and so was her sister. I did not know that and yet not surprised at all as I did know that HM was a mechanic for the Army during WW2. I would like to believe that is in keeping with HM's love of wanting part of something of an ordinary life in her life.  She was not a perfect person as none of are yet she was someone I very much admired as time went on as she just got on with the life and the job to the best of her ability.

Angela Kelly, the late Queen?s dresser for decades and her friend, has been forced to vacate her grace and favour home on the Windsor estate. Her work phone was also cut off after her employer?s death, apparently. King Charles not a fan, then?

Queen's former right-hand woman Angela Kelly heads out of Windsor home | Daily Mail Online (https://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-12028283/Queens-former-right-hand-woman-Angela-Kelly-heads-Windsor-home.html)

I think Ms Kelly was an arrogant woman who threw her weight around and was, from all I?ve read, not greatly liked by other members of the Queen?s family and the staff. Nevertheless, what happened to her was a bit of a kick in the posterior after years of loyal service to the sovereign.

King Charles purchased a home in Yorkshire for her, close to her family. When she dies, the home will revert to the Crown estates.

Glad that the King has ensured that she will have a home near relatives for the rest of her life. As @Curryong pointed out, she might not have been popular with all of the staff but she was QEII's closest confidante.

I agree with Curryong, In my opinion AK47 HAS a mean streak, like to me she seems to be calculatedly looking for fight or with the intention to create a negative for a few hours or days mysterious havoc.  Comes out technically 'clean' because she's a strickler for rules, so harshly done....and you know what.

My opinion is based on her Instagram tied to the obvious (I can't blame the media nor the tabloids) news. Her latest tweets are not straightforward, they are half done, the half done mystery will make ANY media think she's angry mixed with sad, after her 15 minutes of fame, she ends up writing that she is happy to 'finally have her own beautiful home'.  I mean I can't blame BP either for telling Rebecca English that King Charles is fullfilling his mother's wish with a brand new home.  By chance near her family, by chance I hear rumors that a gorgeous cottage close to a top Yorkshire landmark!

Angela told some people she was going to a home in the Peak District, others to a house in a Leeds suburb. These two places are not near each other, and she seems to be emanating this aura of resentment about something at the moment. I don?t blame her. If it?s Leeds she?s going too, with apologies to the citizens of that city, it?s hardly surprising she would prefer Windsor.

No idea, but the dead give away is that after she dies the brand new cottage wherever it is will revert automatically to the ''crown estates''. So it is a crown estate investment, which is not rare.

Major Johnny Thompson

Major Jonathan Thompson: The handsome equerry who took centre stage at the King's coronation | Daily Mail Online (https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12056229/Major-Jonathan-Thompson-handsome-equerry-took-centre-stage-Kings-coronation.html)

QuoteThe King's handsome kilt-clad equerry who first won over admirers at the Queen's funeral has left hearts racing again after he proudly stood by Charles' side during the Coronation.

Major Jonathan Thompson, of the 5th Battalion Royal Regiment of Scotland, was front and centre yesterday as he stood between Charles and the Pages of Honour during the historic ceremony.

The Army officer, 39, known to friends as 'Johnny' but dubbed on TikTok as 'Major Eye Candy', was once the Queen?s most senior bodyguard but now serves His Majesty and has been seen constantly at his side.

But outside of his royal duties, Maj Thompson, from Northumberland, is a father-of-one and loving husband to his marketing manager wife Caroline.

He and Caroline, 44, have been happily married since 2010 and welcomed their son in 2018. The couple also has two black Labradors called Odin and Piper ? a nod to Maj Thompson's military time in Scotland.

I thought that he and Catherine had servants to take care of their homes and personal items like clothes, shoes, boots etc.  Seeing how busy Charles is all the time so that did not surprise he had valests over time, so this is new for William?  You mean maybe there will be some color besides *blue* in his life........I like a man in a soft pink shirt any day of the week................  :laugh10:

William and Harry used to have one of Charles' staff members come by to assist them with their more expensive clothing (white and black tie, morning suits, and their uniforms) but their allowances didn't provide them with the funding to have a valet on a regular basis. Now that William is the Prince of Wales/Duke of Cornwall, he has the funding to hire someone to care for his own clothing.

Catherine has Natasha Jackson, nee Archer - married to Chris Jackson, royal photographer for Getty Images.

I think William's decision to finally have a valet is due, POW duties are way more far superior than Duke duties. Seconded by his popularity in the UK, but also as the saying goes whatever happens in the USA good bad or ugly it affects worldwide.  As Bloomberg said in his introduction speech at the Earthshot Prize summit at NYC

''The prince has clearly won over Americans of all stripes. These days, as we know, that is no small feat," In fact, the poll (GALOP) also showed the prince is viewed positively by 60% of democrats and 60% of republicans. America has not seen that kind of bipartisan consensus since 1776. But this time we're all drinking to the King's health.''

His clothing and appearance - we can woke call it as stylist does help a lot. Just like Charles forever with his clothing and appearance.

I'd love to dream on  :hehe: that we will see William at Scotland next year wearing a kilt. Please!

William hasn?t worn a kilt since he was a child, and imo he?s not likely to start as a 40 year old. Maybe an occasional official occasion in Scotland when he is King in another quarter of a century or so. If the monarchy lasts that long of course and if Scotland remains as part of the UK.

Wouldn't the people of GB have to have a say in getting rid of the monarchy first, then Parliament would be the next step?  I don't think the monarchy will be  abolished as that is the very history of the beginning of England way back before even Alfred the Great.  It is the country's heritage, history in all things that make England so great/wonderful/ and a nice place to visit.  Just what would we all do here if there was no monarchy or royal family in GB?   That is the first  country that I want to visit again someday as then Scotland, then Paris, then Egypt.

Bar a revolution it would be the other way around. There would be days of debate in Parliament, then a bill would be drawn up to declare a referendum would be held in England and Wales (and Scotland and NI if they are still part of the UK. at a certain date. That would be the point at which the will of the people would be known. If a referendum were to pass, then an Act of Parliament would be put in place declaring a republic. At all stages of this process the monarch would be obliged to sign the bill into law.

The monarchy encompasses a whole lot more than the country?s history and tradition. As a Constitutional monarch the sovereign is obliged to follow Parliament?s wishes.

And none of these things exist just for foreign tourists to gawk at and say ?How quaint? and ?How old!?. Britain isnt a tourist park for the benefit of foreign visitors. If the British population doesn?t want the monarchy any more (and more are more young Britons are disinterested) then it will cease to exist. And if it comes to that, plenty of tourists visit republics like France, Italy and Germany to see their ancient buildings.
