Virginia Guiffre?s lawyers have intimated that they want this thing to go to trial now. However I can still see a settlement as a distinct possibility. Certainly if the rumours are true that the Queen is unwilling to bankroll Andrew?s legal expenses for too much longer something?s going to have to give. Now the sale of the chalet is going ahead Andrew may have a few million to offer in settlement. However, I think the other side?s lawyers can smell blood and a couple of million isn?t going to be acceptable imo.

I agree that a settlement is likely to be offered but perhaps not accepted.

As for his former wife and his daughters, yes I understand that they believe he's been unfairly targeted. However have any one of the trio who support or are the patrons of organizations devoted to stopping human trafficking ever confronted him regarding his relationships with Epstein and Maxwell?

I hope that Jack and Edo are going to be there to support their wives but more importantly to also bring home some truths about Andrew's behavior over the decades.  :notamused:

I have to agree with the author, that Andrew needs not only bow out of royal/public life, pay the settlement and announce publicly that he's an idiot  but also he needs to go to a remote place dedicated where he can design and build his own golf course. BTW I believe that the Commonwealth should either boycott his residence in any one of their nations and he can go live in one of his favorite former Soviet republics. He has a relationship with many of their new "czars." Sarah can opt to go with him as well to do her Instagram  channel where she dresses up in costumes and reads children's stories  They  can return for visits with their daughters and their families and when the time comes be discreetly brought in from a WA side entrance to sit at his mother's funeral. That's it. Full stop.

Thank you @Macrobug67 and @sara8150 for the updates.  IMVHO  this was the reasonable and correct step to be taken. As with the previous decisions taken regarding the DoY, I believe that HM sought the input of the PoW, DoCam, as well as the EoW and PssR.

As for seeking testimony from members of the BRF who reside in the U.S., I doubt that it will be sought.

Thank you @sara8150 and @Macrobug67 for reporting on this serious move by HMQ today. Andrew is now a private citizen with all titles and patronages returned to the Queen. He lost his HRH! I am simply surprised it took this long. Harry lost his patronages and military ranks for wanting to move to the US. I never got Andrew who facing legal battles managed to keep his this long.

Andrew is not going to be kicked out of Royal Lodge. He has paid a lease on it. It's not a grace and favor controlled by the queen.

I agree that Andrew should not have been permitted to hold onto those appointments for as long as he did, but I'm glad to see that they've been removed. Curious to see if they'll be filled by another member of the BRF or will they be now replaced with a veteran/ private citizen? I definitely could see that with Andrew's Canadian regiments.

There is a petition  from a member of the York City Council to have the Duke of York's title associated with the City of York removed. The title "Duke of York" has traditionally been held by the second son of a reigning monarch.

As I understand it, only the British Parliament can remove this territorial designation. There was a similar petition request made in regards to the title  Duke of Sussex from the County of Sussex. However as far as I know, Parliament has not chosen to act upon the request. I believe that the last time the territorial titles were removed was during WWI with some of the German princes who also held British titles as well. TBH I don't see Parliament making any move to remove this title any time in the near future.

My apologies if this has already been posted but Rideau Hall and a spokesperson for the Canadian Armed Forces have confirmed Prince Andrew has "relinquished" his Canadian military positions. He was Colonel of three regiments.

As I recall Charles, Andrew and Edward were all sent to a Commonwealth nation for part of their secondary education. Charles-Australia, Andrew-Canada and Edward-New Zealand though in hindsight, I believe that it would have been brilliant to send Anne to one of the Commonwealth nations as well for part of her education.

Yes Andrew went to Lakefield college. King Felipe of Spain also attended the school.

The Queen's York rangers does have a Canadian 'honorary colonel of the regiment'. The governor general of Ontario has been appointed to fill the role, since 2011. I could see them leaving the 'colonel in chief' open at least until there is a new Duke of York.

The other two titles are linked to British counterparts. If a British royal is appointed to take for Andrew at the British side, I could see them being given the Canadian honor as well.

The regiments all have Canadians who serve as regiment colonels and honorary colonels.It might simply be seen as best to leave it at that.

I wonder if Andrew's defense is going to work? There is so much evidence suggesting the opposite of his claims. So many photos of Andrew and Ghislaine in which they appear to be close friends.

I'm more interested in Before and After. 

Before: Media (and individuals) were thursting (journalists were very aggressive about this) for a full trial.
After: Media (and individuals) are angry (some journalists are mad as in nuts, others had a twitter meltdown against a full trial, they were 100% before thinking he won't have a full trial because __________FillInTheBlank) that Andrew officially want's a full trial.

IMO, he knew already to want this, hence weeks ago stripped to be able to go as a ''private'' person.

I mean, the biggest evidence to my comment is the fact that Virginia's lawyer was (before) thursting, pushing, being very aggressive, even threatening for a Trial.  (After) Yesterday he had a total meltdown because Andrew wants a Trial.

Want is because the court is yet to decide, but had requested in re to trial the word from Andrew's lawyer team.

That is way to easy for her, she should do life and then some for what she did...hell is to darn good for her.  She ruined many young girls lives to please an idiot man who all he did was rape those girls.  Money and egos are what is the cause of so many problems in our society along with a strong sense of entitlement that those that think they are better than the rest of the human race all because they have money, take away the money and and they are empty shells of nothingness. Hope her life in prison is  filled with all the hell she deserves.

I think that Ghislaine and Andrew were super close and may well have dated each other privately. She was certainly at home enough in BP to have been quite comfortable lounging around on the throne in the Palace Throne Room. Like his brother, Andrew has never seemed to be able to distinguish between true friends and those who schmoozed him for their own benefit or, in Maxwell?s case, that of her mentor.

Anyway twenty years seems about right for what Ghislaine did, and may she rot in jail for good!

A photographer working for the BBC during Prince Andrew's car-crash Newsnight interview claims to have taken a shocking picture of the Royal that would shake the monarchy if it ever became public. But Charles remains firmly of the belief that there should be no return to royal duties for the duke.

The Queen and Pr Charles will continue with the present course of dealing with Andrew simply because, above all else, it would be PR suicide for the monarchy to bring him back into the fold. However, all this tabloid talk of urgent meetings and Balmoral summits on his behalf is completely OTT in my opinion.

Andrew knows the score, so do Beatrice and Eugenie. What would be the point of them arguing for his return? Andrew may hold a sliver of hope that in maybe four or five years he could slither back but it must be a tiny fading glimmer of a thing by now. It?s done, finished. He?d be better off filling his time with hobbies and pastimes and perhaps a business interest or two, if he actually has money to invest.

I dont think htat Andrew is trying to get back into royal duties.  he may want to, he may even try to go to individual things like Philips service, or the like but I think he knows that its very unlikely that he can ever work as a royal again... and he is at least doing some good keeping the queen company and cheering her up....

No, Eugenie has never come out and said anything in public, yet I have seen pictures of her showing her anger at William and there was an event, wish I could remember where she and her sister were at with the entire royal family and the coldness between her and the Cambridges was very evident.  Over time her friendship with Harry and Meghan has been known and nothing wrong with that yet her dislike of the Cambridges  is widely known. Oh I know the type of man Andrew is and that type is always wanting to be seen and heard and out front....I really think he wants back in the Firm as he has never been tried in a trial by a jury yet his friendship with JE has brought him down to where he is today. I dont know where you are getting this idea from.  I dont know of any hard evidence that Andrew does not accept that his working life as  a royal is over.  He  may be angry about it, he may wish it was different but I think he accepts that he cannot work, and has to retire as he has been retired for 2 years.  He has been to Philips memorial service and I think he went to the private Garter ceremony, but other than that I know of no sign that he's trying to get back to public life.

where is this evidence?  I think htat trying to guess what people are feeling from a brief photographic shot is very dubious, quite honestly.   she may be friendly iwth Harry, that does not mean that she dislikes William.....and I dont know of any real sign that she's on bad terms with the Cambridges, who are clealry trying to keep up a polite front with Harry....

I?ve read about coldness between Kate and the York Princesses for years, way way back in the years when Kate was first going out with William. There was one story that was very well known that Kate had invited Beatrice to a party but hadn?t told her that it was a themed roller derby party held at a skating rink. Beatrice arrived with boyfriend in tow in completely the wrong outfit (as was the boyfriend) and was humiliated. She was seen in the toilets at the locale in tears.

Whatever the truth of that I?ve never seen the Yorkies actively publicly seek Kate out for a chat at family get togethers since the early days of Kate being on the scene. Harry welcomed her but William and Kate never went to clubs with Eugenie in the way that Harry did in his twenties.

Andrew may well have expressed annoyance in front of them too that his girls were being squeezed out of the public eye by the advent of Kate, and that may have influenced things. And William not inviting Fergie to his wedding apparently bit hard. Fergie and her daughters are as close as peas in a pod.

I don't think Andrew accepts being left out of the Firm at all, he is from all that has been shown for decades a very selfish ego manic type of person. It has been reported  for years he treats his staff mean and nasty and just recently he had his daughters talk to Charles to help get him back in the Firm.  I got all this from some news alerts from around the world, gads the news alerts I get are huge, way to many at times.  Sure he went to Philips memorial with HM and caused a stir .....Andrew is not the type of man who will ride off into the sunset and leave this earth...he will leave this earth kicking and screaming he has more to do, riding horses and riding more horses can only last so long.  He I believe craves making deals, being out front, in the news, doing things with a schedule as that has been his whole life.....retiring behind closed doors....NO NO, that is not Andrew.

sorry but news alerts are not proof of what is said in private conversations within hte RF.  Yes I think that Andrew will never give up hoping a bit that he can return to work but I think in essence he knows he cant.  He will probalby be seen occasionally at events but he cannot work as a royal and that's been made clear to him.  I dont know of any evidence that the daughters have been lobbying for him to come back to royal duties.   and if waht Andrew wants is to do deals etc, he can probably do that provided he keeps it careful and private.  It is public work that he cant do...

I somewhat agree with your point.  Surely he knows that nobody in the UK want him as a senior working royal, especially all his ex charities and ex military appointments that don't want him and factually moved to make him quit. 

There is no minor working royal and never was. There was a lot of senior working royals, but the slim down British Monarchy is here to stay.

What he may feel is that when the Queen passes, his sister and brother are yet senior working royals and may still be with Charles. Whilst by his own actions is banned forever.

He should seek an occupation based on his golf probably. I'm being serious, within a sport, he can find something good to do.

In reference to Bea and Eugenie, they went with their respective partners to Kate's charity fundraiser (her charities including the NHS mental health department) Christmas Carol Concert at Westminster 2021 (ITV, Kate played the piano). What may have happened when she was W girlfriend, 20 years ago, people mature. OR they are divisive like their dad (and mom), which can also happen. Children from broken parents in it's majority have adult issues.

I think that Andrew is pretty stupid, but since i dont know of any evidence that he or his girlss are hassling the queen and Charles to get back to work, I will take it that he's not doing so. I cant see the girls doing it certianly.  Bea accepted that her fathers would not even appear in her wedding photos, and Im sure had Eugenie been the one getting married at that stage she would have done the same.  Im sure that in part of his mind, Andrew does feel "given time maybe I'll be needed" but after 2 years I think he must realise that that is a forlorn hope, however much it may annoy him.
