The Princess Royal opens new Sea Cadets boat station ? Royal Central

QuoteThe Princess Royal has officially inaugurated the new Sea Cadets Port Edgar Boat Station in Edinburgh?s Port Edgar Marina.

The Princess, who serves as Admiral of the Sea Cadet Corps, had a chance to meet with cadets and watch them as they paraded and got out on the water. The cadets took part in various activities including sailing, boating, rowing, and other paddlesport activities. More than 80 cadets including royal marines and junior cadets from across Scotland, Northern England, and Northern Ireland participated in the event. There were also 12 cadets to represent the ?Cadet Voice? as they discussed with their Admiral the issues most important to them.

The Princess Royal, on behalf of The Queen in celebration of Her Majesty? s Platinum Jubilee, accompanied by Vice-Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, today carried out the following engagements in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.

Her Royal Highness this morning visited Caritas Technical Secondary School, Igua Street.

The Princess Royal later opened the National Cardiac Diagnostic Centre at Port Moresby General Hospital, Taurama Road.
Her Royal Highness, Commandant-in-Chief (Youth), St John Ambulance, subsequently visited the Ambulance Control Centre at 702 Taurama Road.

The Princess Royal afterwards opened the Women's Resource Centre at Vabukori Village.

Her Royal Highness this afternoon met Elders and Community Leaders at Hanuabada Village.

The Princess Royal later visited Port Moresby (Bomana) War Cemetery at Bomana Road and laid a wreath on behalf of The Queen.

Her Royal Highness afterwards visited Adventure Park Papua New Guinea, Tanubada.

The Princess Royal subsequently visited Papua New Guinea National Museum and Art Gallery, Independence Drive.

Her Royal Highness, on behalf of Her Majesty, this evening held an Investiture at Government House, Champion Parade.

The Princess Royal later attended a Dinner held by the Governor-General of Papua New Guinea (Sir Robert Dadae) at Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Haus, Paga Ring Road.

Nine engagements in one day in Port Moresby? A record, even for Anne! She must have really whisked around the place, half an hour here, an hour there! How much of the city did Anne really see? The visit?s received very little publicity here. One little piece on TV news about Anne at the Sydney Easter Show and that was it. Nothing about doings of royals in our neighbour to the north. The news is full of the Fed election.

There is growing speculation that Buckingham Palace will soon announce which members will be taking over the honorary military appointments that have become vacant in recent years due to the death of the DoE and the departure of the Dukes of York and Sussex.

Speculation is that the Princess Royal will take on her late father's and her nephew's former roles with the Royal Marines.

The Princess Royal, accompanied by Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, this morning attended a Service to commemorate the Centenary of the visit of King George V to the Commonwealth War Graves Commission Cemetery at Etaples, near Boulogne, France, and was received by Her Majesty's Ambassador to the French Republic (Her Excellency Dame Menna Rawlings).

During the Service Her Royal Highness laid a wreath at the Stone of Remembrance and afterwards planted a tree for The Queen?s Green Canopy.
