James IV (1473-1513) reigned as King of Scotland from 1488 to 1513. He was the son of King James III of Scotland and Margaret of Denmark.     
In the course of the reign of James IV the king's revenue rose threefold.   
James IV was also a renowned patron of the arts and architecture.

During the reign of King James IV, Aberdeen University was founded, the printing press came to Scotland, and education was made compulsory for barons and wealthy landowners.
